'Most tear-jerking TV show ever' is leaving Amazon Prime in days

Metro04-06-2025
If you're looking for a big old cry, Amazon Prime Video has the perfect show – but only for the next few weeks.
This Is Us was at turns syrupy sweet and laugh-out-loud funny, making it a perfect feel-good watch that went down a storm from the moment it first aired in 2016.
The show at first seems to star Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia as married couple Rebecca and Jack raising triplets in the 80s, but this is intercut with flash forwards to the adult triplets navigating their present day lives.
There is Kate (Chrissy Metz) who is dealing with weight struggles, Kevin (Justin Hartley) a buff actor starring in a terrible sitcom and Randall (Sterling K Brown) who is searching for his biological father.
It soon emerges that their father, Jack, is dead in the present day, raising the seasons-long mystery of how he died.
The US hit has been added to the streaming platform's list of content leaving in the next 30 days, so you'll have to be quick to this one. Particularly given that the drama was a cable show, so had bumper seasons with 20-plus episodes a piece.
As the show built up to the big reveal of what exactly happened to Jack, the show reached new levels of heartbreak prompting @reallyreaux to pronounce on X: 'I swear This Is Us is the most tear jerking tv show ever.'
When the show finally came to a conclusion in 2022, @AbbyLePage9 chimed: 'Time to say goodbye to the most tear-jerking show ever. #ThisIsUs'
The show has even been included in online conversations around the saddest TV shows of all time. @h_eather31 posted on Reddit that they initially avoided the show because of fears it would simply be a 'cry fest' every week.

'My neighbour keeps changing my front garden while I'm out - I hate what he says'

'My neighbour keeps changing my front garden while I'm out - I hate what he says' A homeowner has been left fuming after their neighbour 'replanted' their front garden without asking - and even added decorative rocks and a gnome The neighbour described the garden as 'chaotic' (stock image) (Image: Getty) A homeowner has expressed their annoyance after a neighbour took it upon themselves to redecorate their front garden without permission while they were away. The individual, known as WhisperingPineJ on Reddit, shared the incident on the r/neighborsfromhell subreddit. ‌ They detailed that they reside in a duplex and share a front garden that is "clearly divided down the middle". On their side of the garden, they planted a few herbs and flowers, specifically "just lavender, basil, and some marigolds for colour", they said. ‌ However, they allege their "50-something" neighbour behaves as if he 'owns a botanical museum', reports the Mirror. They continued: "Without asking, this man just casually trims my plants. Like, walks out with gloves and scissors, snips a few stems, and sometimes even replants things he thinks would 'look better'. ‌ "When I asked him to please stop, he said - dead serious - 'I'm just helping you maintain it. It looked a little... chaotic'." They vented: "Sir. It's lavender, not a jungle." The Reddit user then revealed that last week, they returned home to discover "little decorative rocks and a random gnome" on their side of the garden. They insist they didn't place them there and believe the neighbour did. "He says it 'ties the whole look together'," they revealed. "I'm polite, but I'm honestly one more unsolicited landscaping away from planting poison ivy." The neighbour trimmed the plants without asking (stock image) (Image: Getty) ‌ At the conclusion of their post, the Redditor asked fellow users: "Has anyone had to deal with a neighbour who acts like your stuff is theirs to 'fix'? Is there a nice way to say 'back off my damn plants' without starting a passive-aggressive war?" The comments quickly flooded in as people offered their insights and suggestions. One person advised: "Be direct. 'Neighbour, I need you to respect that this is my property and stop altering my landscaping.' You are probably being too polite in the face of a guy who has shown he has no problem walking all over you." Another recommended: "Get motion detection sprinklers." Someone else suggested: "My honest advice is to tell him that you know he's trying to help, but that you prefer to garden your own yard (while returning the gnome and rocks.)" A different user proposed: "Start making alterations to his side. Just a little snip here and there." ‌ The neighbour added some rocks and a gnome (stock image) Yet, not everyone viewed the neighbour's meddling negatively. "Me personally I would like it - and would welcome this expert plant fixer like a lost maniac brother. Life is too short to worry about someone doing no harm," another said. One more said: "Does he also have things growing on his side? If not, could you offer to help him choose some plants and give him his own garden to tend? (It would be a bit condescending I guess, but he doesn't mind treating you as less experienced/knowledgeable/tidy?)" Article continues below Legally, a neighbour cannot alter your front garden without consent, according to legal guidelines. Your front garden constitutes part of your private property and falls under your dominion and control. Unsanctioned modifications could include actions such as damaging fences, removing plants, or erecting structures on your land.

Neighbour replanted my front garden while I was out - I can't believe what he said

The homeowner came home to a different-looking front garden due to one neighbour's antics A homeowner has voiced their frustrations after a neighbour redecorated their front garden while they were out - and without asking. Taking to Reddit, the social media user, who goes by the username WhisperingPineJ, posted about the incident on the r/ neighborsfromhell subreddit. ‌ They explained that they live in a duplex and share a front garden that is " clearly divided down the middle". In their part of the garden, the Reddit user says they planted a few herbs and flowers, "just lavender, basil, and some marigolds for colour", they said. However, they claim their "50-something" neighbour "acts like he's running a botanical museum". ‌ They added: "Without asking, this man just casually trims my plants. Like, walks out with gloves and scissors, snips a few stems, and sometimes even replants things he thinks would 'look better'. When I asked him to please stop, he said — dead serious — 'I'm just helping you maintain it. It looked a little… chaotic'." They fumed: "Sir. It's lavender, not a jungle." ‌ The Reddit user then says that last week, they came home to find "little decorative rocks and a random gnome" on their side of the garden. However, they didn't put them there and claim the neighbour did. "He says it 'ties the whole look together'," they said. "I'm polite, but I'm honestly one more unsolicited landscaping away from planting poison ivy." ‌ At the end of their post, the Redditor asked: "Has anyone had to deal with a neighbour who acts like your stuff is theirs to 'fix'? Is there a nice way to say 'back off my damn plants' without starting a passive-aggressive war?" It didn't take long for the comments to start pouring in as people shared their thoughts and advice. One suggested: "Be direct. 'Neighbour, I need you to respect that this is my property and stop altering my landscaping.' You are probably being too polite in the face of a guy who has shown he has no problem walking all over you." A second put forward: "Get motion detection sprinklers." Another wrote: "My honest advice is to tell him that you know he's trying to help, but that you prefer to garden your own yard (while returning the gnome and rocks.)" A fourth said: "Start making alterations to his side. Just a little snip here and there." However, not everyone was against the neighbour's interference. "Me personally I would like it - and would welcome this expert plant fixer like a lost maniac brother. Life is too short to worry about someone doing no harm," one person commented. A neighbour can't legally change your front garden without your permission, as per legal guidelines. Your front garden is part of your private property and is subject to your ownership and control. Unauthorised changes might involve things like damaging fences, taking out plants, or putting up structures on your land.

Paramount Plus adds 'gripping' thriller with 92% Rotten Tomatoes rating

The film received an Oscar nomination and was considered one of the best of 202 September 5 trailer Paramount Plus has just added a 'gripping' historical drama fans say will stop you from playing on your phone while watching. ‌ 2024 release September 5 has now been added to the streamer's library. It is accessible either via its own dedicated app, or as an add-on subscription through Amazon Prime Video. ‌ The film is also available to those who have Sky Cinema or a movie pass on NOW. Based on a shocking true story, according to the movie's synopsis, the title unveils the decisive moment that forever changed media coverage and continues to impact live news today. ‌ Set during the 1972 Munich Summer Olympics, the film follows an American Sports broadcasting team that quickly adapted from sports reporting to live coverage of the Israeli athletes taken hostage. Through this lens, September 5 provides a fresh perspective on the live broadcast seen globally by an estimated one billion people at the time. At the heart of the story is Geoff (John Magaro), a young and ambitious producer striving to prove himself to his boss, the legendary TV executive Roone Arledge (Peter Sarsgaard). Together with German interpreter Marianne (Leonie Benesch) and his mentor Marvin Bader (Ben Chaplin), Geoff unexpectedly takes the helm of the live coverage. ‌ As narratives shift, time ticks away, and conflicting rumours spread, with the hostages' lives hanging in the balance, Geoff grapples with tough decisions while confronting his own moral compass. September 5 registered an impressive 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It also received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. One critic said of the film: "A solid thriller from start to finish whose Oscar-nominated script invites us to reflect on how and why the news media does what it does." ‌ Another added: "September 5 is absolutely riveting, a peek at the earnest and ambitious people who unwittingly changed broadcast television by trying their best under exceptional circumstances. Despite knowing the outcome, you can't look away." Film fans are full of just as much praise, with one going so far as to claim it is "one of the best movies of the year." Another posted: "Truly amazing. Gripping. Whether you already know the real events or not, it will keep your attention every second. This is not a movie to watch while you play on your phone." While someone else said: "Exceptional filmmaking that tells a heart-pounding and heartbreaking story from a new point of view. It explores universal questions while staying grounded in specific details. Outstanding."
