Kate Middleton has always been about setting new royal precedents. Whether it be by blazing new trails (like supposedly picking a different school for her kids) or by nixing certain royal traditions, she is never one to put tradition before her maternal instincts.

Now, the Princess of Wales is apparently saying no to a royal family tradition her kids Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6 are likely expected to take part in.
'[King] Charles' daughter-in-law, Catherine, Princess of Wales, has put her foot down and insisted there will be no blooding for her children,' royal author Tom Quinn wrote in an excerpt from his upcoming book, Yes Ma'am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants.
And this is where queasy readers might want to take their leave.
Because 'blooding,' for those of you with strong enough stomachs (or an insatiable curiosity), is the royal family's tradition of going hunting with the kids and smearing them with the blood of their first kill.
And while we know this practice and similar ones hold special meanings in many cultures … I also know that I'm getting woozy just thinking about it. Older generations of royals — including Middleton's husband Prince William and her brother-in-law Prince Harry — had to go through with blooding. In fact, the Duke of Sussex went so far as to detail the intense experience in his tell-all memoir, Spare.
It turns out Middleton isn't the only one who wants to keep animal blood off her children's faces. It sounds like the Prince of Wales is pretty against it too. In his book Gilded Youth: A History of Growing Up in the Royal Family, Quinn said Prince William has been 'struggling with the traditional pastimes of the royal family as they become ever more unpopular with the public,' per InStyle. Before blooding even gets to be a possibility with his kids, Prince William is apparently wondering if plain ol' hunting is even 'suitable' for the young royals.
And so despite what King Charles III might want (his position on blooding is unclear), we have to believe that a mom on a mission who has a future king in her corner will make sure her kids' faces aren't smeared with animal blood.More Top Deals from SheKnows

Watch: Jamie Lee Curtis recounts how she made 'Freakier Friday' happen

File Photo by Jim Ruymen/UPI | License Photo July 30 (UPI) -- Jamie Lee Curtis says she put in a call to Disney CEO Bob Iger upon realizing that Lindsay Lohan was old enough to play a mom in a sequel to their 2003 film Freaky Friday. The actress, 66, discussed Freakier Friday on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday. Curtis played Tess in the original feature, while a 15-year-old Lohan played her daughter Anna. The pair switched bodies in the movie, which strengthened the characters' relationship. "I went around the world to promote Halloween and wherever I went in the world... people would say to me, you know, 'When are you going to make another Freaky Friday?' That's all they wanted to talk about," Curtis recounted. "And I would be like oh well you know, soon, maybe at some point but you know Lindsay has to be old enough to be a mom of a 15-year-old because that's the only way you would make a sequel," she continued. When she learned that Lohan was old enough to play the mother of a teenager, she called Iger and production began. Lohan, 39, recently took to The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon to discuss the movie. "So Anna is older now. She has a teenage daughter, and she's fallen in love with a guy who also has a teenage daughter. The two girls are in school together, they don't really get along. Tess is still micromanaging Anna a bit, and there's a swap that happens, and everyone has to learn a lesson," Lohan said. The sequel also stars Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishan, Rosalind Chao, Chad Michael Murray, Vanessa Bayer and Mark Harmon. Freakier Friday hits theaters Aug. 8. The trailer for " Zootopia 2" is here. The trailer for the Disney sequel arrived on Wednesday and features the return of Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman). The film follows Judy and Nick, who discover that, "their partnership isn't as solid as they thought when Chief Bogo (voice of Idris Elba) orders them to join the Partners in Crime counseling program," according to a press release. "But it doesn't take long for their partnership to be put to the ultimate test when they find themselves on the twisting trail of a mystery tied to the arrival of a venomous snake in the animal metropolis," the press release adds. The herd of cast members returning for the sequel are Bonnie Hunt, who voices Bonnie Hopps; Don Lake, who voices Stu Hopps; Nate Torrence, who voices Clawhauser and Jenny Slate who voices Bellwether. Alan Tudyk (voice of Duke Weaselton), Maurice LaMarche (voice of Mr. Big), Leah Latham (voice of Fru Fru), Josh Dallas (voice of Frantic Pig), Tommy Chong (voice of Yax), Mark Rhino Smith (voice of Officer McHorn) and Raymond Persi (voice of Flash) are also returning in the sequel. In addition to returning cast members, new characters introduced are Gary De'Snake (Ke Huy Quan), Nibbles (Fortune Feimster) and Dr. Fuzzby (Quinta Brunson). The first "Zootopia" film was released in March 2016. It introduced Goodwin's Judy Hopps and Bateman's Nick Wilde, an optimistic rookie bunny cop and sly fox con artist, respectively, who uncover a conspiracy in the city of Zootopia. The film, which was directed by Byron Howard, Rich Moore and Jared Bush, won the Oscar for best animated feature film of the year in 2017. Howard and Bush are returning as directors for the sequel. "Zootopia 2" opens in theaters on Nov. 26.

Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde land themselves in buddy cop therapy in 'Zootopia 2' trailer

The eager bunny and sly fox must track down a slippery snake or else their partnership is over. Trouble in paw-ridice? Nick and Judy are back on the case in the Zootopia 2 trailer — this time to solve the mystery between their clashing communication styles. The follow-up to Disney's Oscar-winning 2017 animated film catches up with sly fox and eager bunny (voiced by Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin, respectively) just one week after they're made official partners and, well… things aren't going quite as expected. The pair have somehow landed themselves in group therapy for cop duos that can't stand each other. In the clip, Judy can be seen eagerly trying to explain to the adorable quokka Dr. Fuzzby (Quinta Brunson) that she and Nick get along fine and don't actually belong at the meeting. It's then, of course, that Fuzzby calls out Judy's anxious foot tapping and Nick's 'insecure attachment' style in front of the entire group, leaving the pair gobsmacked. The only hope the pair have to continue working together is if they're able to successfully track down a mysterious snake named Gary (Ke Huy Quan). However, the serpent proves to be much more slippery than they'd initially thought. Along their journey, the trailer sees the pair visit new locations, like the marshlands, and reunite with some familiar faces, including the fearsome mobster Mr. Big (Maurice LaMarche) and his newly married daughter, Fru Fru (Leah Latham) 'Kiss the ring!' the mob heiress declares, waving a flashy ring pop encrusted hand toward Nick and Judy. 'Kiss the ring!' Disney announced that Zootopia 2 was on the way during an earnings call in 2023. The original film — which saw Nick and Judy join forces to find a group of missing predators — was a smash hit, raking in more than $1 billion at the global box office and spawning a Disney+ spinoff series, titled Zootopia+, that was released in 2022. The sequel rounds out its cast with returning stars Idris Elba as Chief Bogo and Shakira as pop star Gazelle, as well as franchise newcomers Quan, Brunson, and Fortune Feimster as Nibbles the beaver. Zootopia 2 hops into theaters on Nov. 26. Watch the trailer above. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly Solve the daily Crossword
