Egypt committed to strengthening partnerships with African nations: El-Shimy
During his meeting with Esperança da Costa, Vice President of Angola, both sides reaffirmed the strength of historic ties between Egypt and Angola and discussed avenues for expanding cooperation in key priority sectors. The meeting also highlighted the significance of the summit as a forum for dialogue between governments and the private sector, particularly as Angola holds the presidency of the African Union this year and celebrates 50 years of independence.
El-Shimy also met with several African ministers and senior officials attending the summit, including Rui de Oliveira, Angola's Minister of Industry and Trade; Isaac Francisco, Minister of Agriculture; Sílvia Paula, Minister of Health; and Armando Manuel, Chairperson of Angola's Sovereign Wealth Fund. Other key meetings included discussions with Julien Paluku, Minister of Trade of the Democratic Republic of the Congo; Karim Zaidan, Morocco's Minister of Investment; and Mohamed Arkab, Algeria's Minister of Energy.
The talks focused on boosting cooperation between Egypt and these countries in various fields including investment, joint industrial ventures, and trade exchange—contributing to deeper regional economic integration and advancing sustainable development objectives.
El-Shimy stressed that Egypt, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, attaches great importance to enhancing partnerships with African nations on the basis of mutual interests and regional unity. He noted that the Ministry of Public Enterprises Sector is working actively to expand collaboration with African counterparts, especially in strategic productive sectors.
He added that these engagements align with Egypt's broader strategy to open new markets for Egyptian companies across the continent, facilitate the transfer of industrial and technological expertise, and foster joint ventures with both public and private sector partners in African states.
El-Shimy concluded by highlighting the wide-ranging opportunities available for cooperation across multiple sectors and reiterated the importance of the summit as a key platform for direct interaction between government leaders and private sector stakeholders across Africa.

Most of Gaza ceasefire proposal agreed by Hamas previously agreed by Israel: Qatar - War on Gaza
Mediator Qatar said on Tuesday that a Gaza truce proposal given the green light by Palestinian resistance group Hamas was "almost identical" to an earlier version that Israel had agreed to. Hamas gave a "very positive response, and it truly was almost identical to what the Israeli side had previously agreed to", Qatar foreign ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari told reporters, without elaborating on what changes had been made to the accepted proposal. Qatar, with Egypt and the United States, has been engaged in mediation for a ceasefire throughout the 22-month Israeli genocidal war in Gaza, but apart from two short-lived truces, the talks have failed to stop the fighting, as Tel Aviv kept adding new demands that sabotaged the deal. Hopes for a deal were rekindled on Monday after Hamas said it had accepted a new proposal following a push by Egyptian and Qatari mediators in Cairo. The previous round of mediation for a deal in Doha broke down in July, with Israel rejecting Hamas amendments, which sought to guarantee an end to the war on the Palestinian Strip. "We cannot make any claims that a breakthrough has been made. But we do believe it is a positive point," Ansari added. "We are at a decisive humanitarian moment. If we don't reach a deal now, we will face a humanitarian catastrophe that will make all those that preceded it pale in comparison," the spokesman added. Negotiations in recent months have focused on a framework for an initial 60-day truce and the staggered release of Israelis held in Gaza, which was first proposed by US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff. Ansari confirmed the current proposal included the two-month truce as well as provisions to allow for the entry of aid. Under the terms, 10 Israelis held alive and the remains of 18 out of 36 confirmed dead would be released in exchange for an unspecified number of Palestinians detained in Israeli prisons. Israeli forces would also reposition closer to Gaza's border to allow humanitarian aid to enter, while negotiations would begin immediately on a broader agreement. * This story was edited by Ahram Online. Egypt, Japan See 12 Pct Increase in Trade Value First Five Months of 2025
H-Tayea Economic relations between Egypt and Japan witnessed notable growth in the first five months of 2025, as the value of trade between the two countries rose by 12.6 percent. Figures from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed that trade reached 386 million US dollars, compared to 342.7 million dollars during the same period in 2024. This increase highlights the strengthening partnership between the two nations despite shifts in the balance of trade. The report showed that while Egyptian exports to Japan declined, falling from 31.7 million dollars to 27.5 million dollars, marking a decrease of 13.3 percent, imports from Japan surged significantly. Egyptian imports climbed to 358.5 million dollars, up from 311 million dollars in the first five months of 2024, reflecting an increase of 15.2 percent. The data illustrates Egypt's growing reliance on Japanese industrial and automotive products, alongside steady but smaller volumes of agricultural and food exports from Egypt to the Japanese market. Beyond trade, bilateral economic ties also strengthened in other areas. Japanese investments in Egypt rose by 7 percent, reaching 73.2 million dollars in the fiscal year 2023/2024, compared to 68.4 million dollars the year before. Financial flows also recorded positive momentum, with remittances from Egyptians working in Japan rising to 5.6 million dollars, an 11 percent increase, while remittances from Japanese workers in Egypt reached 1.3 million dollars, growing by 18.2 percent year on year. read more CBE: Deposits in Local Currency Hit EGP 5.25 Trillion Morocco Plans to Spend $1 Billion to Mitigate Drought Effect Gov't Approves Final Version of State Ownership Policy Document Egypt's Economy Expected to Grow 5% by the end of 2022/23- Minister Qatar Agrees to Supply Germany with LNG for 15 Years Business Oil Prices Descend amid Anticipation of Additional US Strategic Petroleum Reserves Business Suez Canal Records $704 Million, Historically Highest Monthly Revenue Business Egypt's Stock Exchange Earns EGP 4.9 Billion on Tuesday Business Wheat delivery season commences on April 15 Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated
