Permanent solution assured to drinking water crisis
As part of the 'Suparipalana Tholi Adugu' (Good Governance – The First Step) initiative, the 'Intintiki Telugu Desam' (TDP to Every Household) programme was held in Ballakrishnapuram on Thursday.
Interacting with locals to understand their well-being, problems and needs, he inspected ongoing development works and reviewed welfare schemes being implemented in the village.
Speaking to the media, the MLA remarked that Ballakrishnapuram, once considered a stronghold of opposition parties, has now become a bastion of the Telugu Desam Party. He thanked the villagers for their deep affection and support towards him and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, assuring them that he would make every effort to repay their trust. Highlighting past hardships, the MLA recalled how villagers once struggled for access to drinking water.
He stated that today, clean drinking water is being supplied to every household. He further promised that water would soon be supplied twice a day and that steps would be taken in the future to ensure 24-hour uninterrupted water supply to the village.

Free bus travel in Andhra for girls, women, transgender persons from Aug 15
Amaravati, Aug 11 (PTI) All girls, women, and transgender persons holding Andhra Pradesh domicile are eligible for free bus travel under the 'Stree Shakti' (woman power) scheme, to be launched statewide on August 15, Principal Secretary (Transport, Roads & Buildings) Kantilal Dande said on Monday. 'Beneficiaries include all girls, women, and transgender persons with domicile status in Andhra Pradesh, subject to presenting valid identity proof," Dande said in a government order. The scheme will be implemented using the existing fleet of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), with additional buses to be procured based on demand, he added. Free travel will apply only to Pallevelugu, Ultra Pallevelugu, City Ordinary, Metro Express, and Express services. It will not cover non-stop services, interstate operations, contract carriages, chartered services, or package tours. Saptagiri Express, Ultra Deluxe, Super Luxury, Star Liner, and all air-conditioned services are also excluded, he said. For passenger safety, the government is considering equipping staff with body-worn cameras and installing CCTV cameras in all buses. Bus stations will see upgraded amenities such as fans, chairs, drinking water, and toilets. Dande said the procurement of electric buses and extending the scheme to them could also be considered, subject to Cabinet approval. Free bus travel for women was a poll promise of the TDP-led NDA government ahead of the 2024 elections. The scheme is estimated to cost Rs 1,942 crore annually—about Rs 162 crore a month—and aims to empower women by improving access to education, jobs, and mobility, Minister K Parthasarathy had earlier said. Suneetha Narreddy writes open letter seeking reopening of probe into her father's murder
Suneetha Narreddy, daughter of slain former MP Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, wrote an open letter to all Members of Parliament and MLCs and MLAs in Andhra Pradesh seeking their support for reopening the murder case and its speedy completion, while noting that her father's soul is still crying for justice more than six years after he was killed. She said in the letter, written on August 10 on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, that Vivekananda Reddy was brutally murdered at his residence in Pulivendula in Kadapa district in March 2019 and the perpetrators of the crime were caught but the conspirators remained untouched. On March 15, 2019, Sakshi TV, which is managed by Y.S. Bharati Reddy, wife of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, broadcast a news that Mr. Vivekananda Reddy died of a heart attack and several YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders repeated that claim on the same channel. Ms. Suneetha Narreddy said she found her father's body with wounds that were covered with bandages. The Sakshi newspaper carried a full-page story the next day alleging that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders were responsible for the murder. Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy even filed a writ petition in the High Court seeking a CBI probe. During the 2019 State Assembly elections, Vivekananda Reddy's murder became a political weapon against the TDP. The YSRCP won and Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy became the Chief Minister. He personally assured Ms. Suneetha Narreddy that the killers would be caught, saying that failure (to apprehend the culprits) would be an insult to him. The SIT formed by the YSRCP government was reconstituted just as it neared a breakthrough, after which Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy told Ms. Suneetha Narreddy that a CBI probe was 'not an option' as it might cause MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy to defect to another party. She approached the A.P. High Court and it transferred the case to the CBI on March 11, 2020 but Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy withdrew his own petition for a CBI probe. Noting the influence of the accused and State interference, the Supreme Court transferred the trial to Telangana on November 29, 2022, while observing that there was a larger conspiracy that required further CBI investigation. Yet, this has not happened. Ms. Suneetha Narreddy expressed agony that, in her pursuit of justice, she knocked on every door and was harassed, falsely prosecuted and targeted by the government which her father once helped build. 'Justice is still elusive as the killers are rich and powerful. This is not only my family's tragedy but it is a national failure, where criminals hijacked democracy itself. If we, as citizens and leaders, do not act, we will one day find our freedom, our Constitution, and our values in their hands', she added, hoping that the elected representatives would do the needful treating her as their sister.

YSRCP leaders behind kidnap, torture of Dalit youth: TDP
Tirupati: The alleged abduction and assault of a Dalit youth in Tirupati has triggered a sharp political confrontation, with Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and Swachh Andhra Corporation chairman Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram demanding stringent action against former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman and YSRCP state spokesperson Bhumana Karunakar Reddy and his son, Abhinay Reddy. Addressing the media on Sunday, Pattabhi accused the Bhumana family of masterminding the incident. He claimed that Abhinay Reddy's close aides, Anil and Jagadish Reddy, abducted Pavan Kumar of Pulicherla in Chittoor district, tortured him, and later coerced him into saying that his own brother was responsible after videos of the assault emerged. The TDP leader also levelled charges of large-scale corruption and land grabbing against Karunakar Reddy, alleging illegal occupation of nine acres in the Swarnamukhi riverbed and registration of 21 properties in the names of family members during his tenure as TTD and TUDA chairman. He remarked that Karunakar Reddy had risen from running a photocopy shop to amassing assets worth thousands of crores, questioning the source of his wealth. Referring to the abduction of Pavan Kumar, Pattabhi said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh had intervened to rescue him, leading to the arrest of the main accused. He demanded that those 'at the top' face legal consequences without political protection. TDP leaders G Narasimha Yadav, Parasa Rathnam, RC Munikrishna, P Sridhar Varma and others were present. Meanwhile, police said Pavan had gone missing after being allegedly held captive for nearly 12 hours and beaten with a police baton by Anil Kumar Reddy – YSRCP Tirupati social media in-charge – over a dispute involving a rented two-wheeler. The assault was reportedly recorded and the video sent to the youth's father, along with a demand for payment. Pavan's mother, Sunitha, had released a video on social media pleading for her son's safe return, while Dalit organisations sought urgent police action. Four special police teams were deployed to trace him, and he was eventually found in Chittoor and shifted to SVR Ruia Government General Hospital. Doctors confirmed a fracture below his left knee, and he remains under treatment. Police have said the investigation is continuing, with more arrests likely as they probe the alleged role of those accused of planning the attack.
