3 detained in Rajasthan for 'selling' NEET paper for ₹40 lakh
Three men were detained by the Special Operations Group of Rajasthan Police for allegedly trying to dupe a NEET candidate of ₹40 lakh by promising him the question paper, an officer on Sunday said.
The accused were identified as Balwan, 27, Mukesh Meena, 40, and Hardas, 38, according to police.
On Friday, the three took the student and his family members to Gurugram and asked for the money, at which point the student's family asked them to show the paper.
When they refused, they contacted the SOG, which apprehended the three on Saturday.
The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test, or NEET-UG, is underway today to qualify candidates for admissions in medical colleges across India.

Cops warn against fake QR code fraud
Jaipur: Rajasthan Police Wednesday cautioned public against a new method of cyber fraud involving fake QR codes, urging shopkeepers and customers to stay alert. Fraudsters are sticking counterfeit QR codes over genuine ones at shops, diverting payments to their own bank accounts instead of the shopkeeper's, they said. According to Shantanu Kumar, SP Cyber Crime , the cyber wing released an advisory explaining this emerging scam. People using payment apps like Paytm, PhonePe, or Google Pay are being tricked when they scan these fake codes, unknowingly transferring money to criminals. In most cases, shopkeepers realised something was wrong only when no payment notification was received, but by then the customer left and the transaction was complete. This delay made recovery of money nearly impossible. Rajasthan Police advised shopkeepers to place QR codes in secure, tamper-proof spots, preferably within their line of sight. They should remove the codes at night and inspect them regularly for signs of tampering. Hostel manager, aide held for blackmailing NEET aspirant
Kanpur: A 21-year-old student who was preparing for NEET while staying in a hostel in Kanpur was blackmailed by her manager and her co-worker through an obscene video. The two also extorted money amounting to Rs 60,000 from her. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Based on the complaint filed by the student belonging to Kanpur Dehat, police arrested both accused. According to the police, on April 5, the accused had secretly recorded an obscene video of the student while she was bathing. The student alleged that she was taking a bath in the hostel bathroom when the hostel manager, Mahfooz Khan, and his accomplice, Kafeel Ansari, made the video. They threatened to make the video viral and extorted 60,000 rupees from her in two instalments. Later, they pressured her to engage iHostel manager in physical relations, and when she resisted, they sent the obscene video to her fiancé. Subsequently, the student met ACP Kalyanpur and informed him of the entire situation. The victim said that she had paid the blackmail amount from her tuition fees and pocket money, giving Rs 50,000 initially and then Rs 10,000. The hostel manager is an influential person and threatened her on the way. ACP Abhishek Pandey stated that both accused were arrested based on the student's complaint, and investigations are ongoing. The ACP said that the police seized mobile phones and other electronic devices from the accused. "We are conducting a thorough forensic analysis of the devices to determine if there are other victims," he stated. The police have also sealed the hostel premises pending further investigation. Both accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. Police sources indicate that more charges might be added as the investigation progresses.
