Lainey Wilson spills details of intimate proposal, eyes 'very simple' wedding
Lainey Wilson spilled the details of how Devlin "Duck" Hodges asked her to marry him.
Hodges proposed in February and Wilson shared the moment on Instagram, writing, "4x4xU forever." Now, the country music star has revealed she truly was surprised by the former NFL quarterback's proposal.
"So, I had talked myself into thinking he was going to do it that day," Wilson said, captured on video by News Channel 5 Nashville. "And then I called my sister, I said, 'He's going to propose to me today.' And she was like, 'I gotta go.'"
"And then I talked myself out of it because I thought, 'Man, I sure would be upset if I talked myself into this and that don't happen,'" she added.
Hodges and Wilson had been planning to visit the George Jones estate, which had been listed by one of Hodges' friends, who is a real estate agent. The two made a plan to stop by during the week after this year's Super Bowl.
"And then as we [pulled] up, I realized that there were different plans," Wilson explained. "So, he had it all set up. He had the candles and the picture frames, and it could not have been more perfect."
Wilson admitted she hasn't done much wedding planning since the proposal. "We really need to sit down and make that a priority," she explained. "But I'm sure that it'll be something that's just very, very simple, you know?"
Months before their proposal, Wilson joked she might have to get down on one knee after Bunnie Xo said she hoped Wilson and Hodges get engaged in 2025.
"No pressure, brother! No pressure," Wilson told Bunnie, who was interviewing the "Watermelon Moonshine" singer for CMT. "I might have to propose to him. We waiting!"
"No, Duck's gonna do it. I could feel it," Bunnie noted.
"I like that," Wilson added.
Wilson seemingly always knew Hodges was the one for her and revealed she actually sent her now-fiancé engagement ring choices four years ago.
"Honestly, as a joke, right when we first started dating, because we knew pretty much immediately, we were like, 'Okay, we're gonna be in each other's lives.' It just felt that natural. And as a joke, I had texted him some big rings, being like this is what I like. He was like, 'Oh, Lord. I better start saving now,'" she recalled in the video captured by News Channel 5 Nashville.
"We've been together for four years. What he did is he went in and designed it and kind of put some of those rings together that I sent him. So I'd have said yes, if it was a tiny little thing. But he messed up," she joked.
Wilson and Hodges debuted their relationship in 2023. She later revealed they had been dating for two and a half years before they walked the red carpet together.
"It's really cool to be able to start sharing that side of my life," Wilson said during an appearance on the "Taste of Country Nights, On Demand" radio show. "'Cause for a long time, I kept him on the [down low]. I wanted to see if he was actually gonna be around to stay. You know what I'm saying?"
It looks like Hodges passed the test, and now has a front-row seat to Wilson's career.
"I play all my songs for him before I play 'em for anybody," the singer-songwriter told Bobby Bones on his radio show. "So he's heard a little bit of everything. And he's heard a lot of love songs that I've written him that nobody else will hear."
Hodges and Wilson began dating in 2021 after being introduced through mutual friends. "We went to this old place called Silverados, and it had free beer and wine from 5 to 10 p.m.," the musician told People magazine. "I was like, 'This boy likes to ball on a budget too. This is gonna work out.'"
Before making their red carpet debut, Wilson sparked speculation of their romance by wearing Hodges' Pittsburgh Steelers jersey while performing in Pittsburgh.
"He's one of my biggest cheerleaders," Wilson told Fox News Digital at the 2024 CMT Awards. "I always say that he's the kind of dude that will high-five you on the way in the door and high-five you on the way out."
"Especially with the kind of job that I have. It's important to have those kind[s] of people in your life. So I'm very thankful that he's here with me."

Hodges, who now works in real estate, previously played for the Steelers and the Los Angeles Rams.
"He knows what it's like chasing a dream because he's done that for himself," Wilson said during her appearance on "The Bobby Bones Show." "He was in the NFL. He tried out literally for the Steelers and made it and had a really great run with them. Went out to L.A. Rams and did that."
The former NFL star currently works for Myers Cobb Realtors, based in Tennessee.

My Birthday Dress Cost Under $40
Source: @shamika_sanders / Instagram The pressure of finding a birthday dress is always stressful for me. And this year, it was even more intense because I was on a tight budget and timeframe. I turned 37 this weekend and needed the perfect dress for my dinner party. The theme was 'In Bloom' and I needed something dramatic, but summer-friendly. I searched every site I've ever ordered from to try to find the perfect look, and I had waited until the week before my event, which means I had to also consider shipping times. And that narrowed my selection down to a few online sites. Cue my old faithful with the most reliable and efficient shipping times, FashionNova. I was on the hunt for a sexy, flowy, but when I couldn't find that style in the size or colors I was committed to, hot pink and orange (my event colors), I decided I would have to pivot. That's when I found the Madelyn Draped Mini Dress ($32.99)— a strapless mini dress with floral print and train. Yasss! Give me the drama. After reading the reviews, I decided to pull the trigger and with three days 'til my party, I had to choose overnight shipping for an additional cost of $20. But it was so worth it because FashionNova hasn't failed me yet with their overnight option. And besides, as a top-heavy girl I wanted just those extra few days incase the dress didn't fit and I needed to go to a backup plan. Fashion Nova Birthday Dress I always struggle with choosing the right size because of my slim and busty frame, but thanks to reviews from customers who've purchased it before, I read it had a good amount of stretch, a zipper and the colors were more vibrant in-person. I made a bold decision and chose a Medium because it's strapless and I need the top to be tight to hold up the girls. It came like clockwork and I was beyond relieved when I tried it on and it fit! Mini it was indeed, but the train added an elegance to it and like mentioned in the reviews, the photos did it no justice. The colors really popped and it had a generous stretch with boning in the bodice for extra support. If you're looking for the perfect budget-friendly Fashion Nova birthday dress that screams main character energy, look no further. The Madelyn Draped Mini Dress is currently on sale for $22.99. Coi Leray Is Officially A ‘Girl Mom!': Rapper Gives Birth To First Child
Source: Christopher Polk / Getty Congratulations are in order for Coi Leray. The 28-year-old singer and rapper has welcomed her first child with fellow hip-hop artist Trippie Redd, 25. According to a photo shared to her Instagram Story on June 16, Leray welcomed a precious baby girl, who she offered fans a glimpse of in her heartwarming photo. Leray's sweet baby girl could be seen wearing a light pink onesie, holding onto her mom's finger with a tight grip, and swaddled in a comfy pink blanket. Judging by the picture, it looks like the star's daughter already has a full head of hair, too. The announcement did not stop there. Leray gave fans an update about her motherhood journey the day after, on June 17, telling fans on X that breastfeeding was a downright challenge. 'Breastfeeding ain't no joke #pinksweatsuits,' the femcee penned, tagging a GIF of Leonardo DiCaprio screaming 'It Hurts!!!' along with her confession. The gender of the 'Self Love' rapper's baby likely didn't come as a surprise to fans. Back in April, Leray shared a series of maternity photos on Instagram that seemed to hint at the news. In the since-deleted pictures, she wore a pink, bunny-inspired two-piece outfit while sitting cross-legged, proudly showing off her baby bump. In other images, she paired black jeans with an L.A. snapback, pink Telfar boots, and a brown-and-pink striped hoodie—sticking to a soft pink theme throughout. She closed the post with a childhood throwback of herself in a pink dress, captioning it: 'GIRL MOM 🥹💖🥰💗.' In May, the 'Players' hitmaker followed up with a pink-themed baby shower where friends and family gifted her tons of presents in honor of her daughter. Leray hasn't mentioned the name of her sweet daughter just yet, but the rockstar mommy previously said that she had the name 'Miyoco' in mind for her little one during a May 8 interview with The Shade Room . The artist shared that the name 'Miyoco' was inspired by a friend's sister. Captivated by the sound of it, Coi later learned that it translates to 'beautiful child,' which, for her, made it all the more special. The rap star also revealed that the name subtly weaves in letters from both her own and Trippie Redd's names, adding a personal touch to its meaning. ''Mi' is the first part of Trippie Redd's first name, 'Michael', and 'Co' is the first half of Coi's name,' the outlet noted. Congrats to Coi Leray! Reginae Carter Defends Father Lil Wayne Following ‘Tha Carter VI' Backlash
Reginae Carter continues to stand firmly in defense of her father, Lil Wayne, amid recent criticism of his latest album. The budding actress recently addressed backlash over Tha Carter VI during a livestream on Tuesday (June 15), directly responding to a fan who labeled the album 'trash.' Reginae dismissed the criticism, pointing to today's culture of viral TikTok trends and emphasizing her father's lyrical skills. She noted that Weezy's music can be heard beyond social media. 'Tha Carter VI is trash? That's fine, that's what you want to say,' she began to the critic in a social media video. 'This is what I [hate] about you kids The fact that y'all can't get on TikTok and do a little dance for it? That don't mean that it's trash, babe. Okay?' Doubling down on how lyrically influential and deep her father got on this album, she continued, 'My dad was talking real s**t. It's stuff on that album that you can hear in 2K, in games, at f**king malls, at all type of stuff. It's universal, my love. Y'all need to take y'all minds out of the TikTok world and get to the real bag. My dad is a lyricist, babe. My dad really talks s**t. So if you can't understand it, please move in silence like the 'G' in lasagna and get the f**k out of here. Thanks. Now that's my last time.' Reginae has long been a vocal protector of Lil Wayne's legacy, frequently pushing back on social media critics, fellow rappers, and those who've simply underestimated his impact. Back in February, she defended her father's Saturday Night Live 50 performance, reminding critics that while they were 'hating for free,' Wayne was cashing checks. 'Y'all are some d riders! My dad been having fun performing for years!' she stated, following ongoing conversations about why Kendrick Lamar was chosen over Lil Wayne for the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show — despite being a New Orleans native. In 2019, she also responded to Kodak Black's disrespectful comments about Lil Wayne, who he called a 'maggot' and said he 'should have died when [he] was a baby.' Upon hearing these comments, Reginae took to Instagram to defend her father's honor by posting a picture of Wayne holding her as a baby, captioning it: 'You new lil rappers need to start giving props and respect to the Goat. My father don't bother nobody. He won't even react to what was said. This man be in his own world so leave him the f**k alone.' Even further back, Reginae publicly criticized Young Thug for naming his album Carter 6, viewing it as an attempt to capitalize on Wayne's legacy. Reginae even clapped back at T.I., who once questioned Lil Wayne's stance on the Black Lives Matter movement. Take a look at her latest defense of Lil Wayne above.
