Homeowners should be aware that desirable plants like wisteria and magnolia aren't always a quick fix and can take years to mature.
Oliver Custance Baker, head of Strutt & Parker's National Country House Department, said: and cannot be bought in the shops or built in a matter of weeks. 'The most sought-after plants – and those that can therefore provide the biggest uplift in value – are typically wisteria and magnolia because of their appearance and the time it takes to grow one to maturity.'
He added that it can take years to mature, but a well-established garden can boost a home's value by up to 20 per cent.
According to the RHS, caring for your wisteria requires 'regular pruning and training' to keep it flowering well.

8 must-have plants to brighten up your garden
Nick Hamilton owner of Barnsdale Gardens has shared his favourite plants and flowers you should consider adding to your garden, borders and pots.
Tricyrtis
A spectacular plant that gives a real exotic feel to any garden with its orchid-like, spotted flowers giving the impression that this plant should be tender but it is 'as tough as old boots!'.
Penstemon
I love this plants genus of because most will flower all summer and autumn. They'll grow in sun or semi-shade in a well drained soil and produce a non-stop display of tubular flowers in an array of colours and colour combination to suit all tastes.
Luzula sylvatica 'Marginata'
With the evergreen leaves edged with yellow it's great asset is that it
will grow in sun or shade in any type of soil and is great as groundcover in the hardest spot to fill - dry shade.
Eryngium x zabelii 'Big Blue'
A stunning, nectar-rich plant that will feed the beneficial insects in your
garden. Leave the flowerheads once they have turned brown because they look stunning with winter frost and snow, extending the plant's interest period.
Sarcococca hookeriana 'Winter Gem'
If you need winter scent then look no further than this compact, evergreen shrub. The scent is stunning and the evergreen leaves create an excellent backdrop for the summer flowers.
Cornus sanguinea 'Anny's Winter Orange'
A dwarf version of 'Midwinter Fire' the very colourful stems create a stunning winter display, particularly on sunny days.
Rosa 'Noisette Carnee'
A very well-behaved climbing rose that is perfect for training over an arch, pergola or gazebo. The small, 'noisette' flowers are blush-pink and produce the most amazing clove scent constantly from June to November.
Sanguisorba hakusanensis 'Lilac Squirrel'
I've never seen a squirrel with a drooping, shaggy lilac tail, but this variety will give your garden an unusual and different look throughout summer. It does need a moisture retentive soil but will grow in sun or semi-shade.
However they added that it is 'well worth the effort' as it 'looks amazing in full bloom clothing the front of a house, draping over a pergola or scrambling along a sunny wall.
They added: 'Plants will dry out quickly on light or sandy soil so keep them well watered, particularly when newly planted and in dry periods.
'Prune twice a year in July/August and January/February.'

RHS experts explained that wisteria is best planted in autumn or spring, it ideally loves south or west-facing walls and it can begin flowering within three to four years of planting.
If you manage to nail it in your home, you'll certainly be the talk of the ton.

Netflix adds 'outstanding' crime series with 96% Rotten Tomatoes score as fans beg for fourth season
Netflix has recently added a new three-season long crime drama which is so good it has viewers skipping sleep to "binge it all night". Netflix has quietly added a brilliant crime thriller series which fans "can't turn off" as they've been left begging for a fourth season of the show. Sneaky Pete, starring Giovanni Ribisi in the leading role, follows the story of con man Marius, who steals the identity of his former cellmate Pete, after being released from prison to escape a dangerous gangster. Marius tricks Pete's family into believing he is their long-lost loved one but he quickly realises that their own secrets and lies could end up making his life as dangerous as the world he was desperately trying to escape. Other stars in the show include Margo Martindale, Bryan Cranston, Libe Barer and Marin Ireland. The American crime drama, co-created by Breaking Bad star Cranston first aired in 2015 but viewers are hooked after it was recently uploaded to Netflix. Sneaky Pete concluded in 2019 after its third season but fans are now begging for a fourth season after complaining the show came to an end too soon. The show, which originally aired on Amazon Prime Video, has been showered with praise as viewers rushed to X to express their surprise at just how good it was. One fan was left questioning how they missed the initial release of the show as they wrote: "Sneaky Pete on Netflix. Watch it. Holy s***. So so good. Don't know how I missed it the first time around." A second exclaimed: "Binge worthy series if you enjoy comedic heists and cons - 'Sneaky Pete' (Amazon Prime and Netflix)." A third chimed in: "Just got thru season 1 of Sneaky Pete and I'm mad no one told me ever hyped this show up????" Somebody else added: "I should be sleep. Up watching Sneaky Pete. Never heard of this show until the other day." Yet another agreed: "All I wanna do is watch Sneaky Pete." Someone else gushed: "Sneaky Pete has all my attention!!!" Another wrote: "Sneaky Pete on Netflix is a great show if you like unexpected turns and being on the edge of your seat." Fans are now begging for a fourth season to be released after many felt the show came to an abrupt end. One wrote: "Just binged watched #sneakypete. I need another series @netflix. Loved every episode." A second echoed: "Sneaky Pete is now on Netflix. Underrated show that ended too soon." The show was renewed for a second season in 2018, three years after its first season debuted so there may be hope for fans yet if enough of a fuss is kicked up about it. Sneaky Pete's release on Netflix came just weeks before actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner's death, who plays the recurring character of Marius' parole officer, James Bagwell, in the show. The 54-year-old star tragically passed away on July 20 after an accidental drowning while learning how to surf in Costa Rica. Fans were quick to point out his presence in the show as they took to X to say: "I'm literally finishing season 3 of 'Sneaky Pete', I was so happy to see Malcolm Jamal Warner in it, still looking youthful and vibrant." Another wrote: "I literally threw on Sneaky Pete, never even heard of it, and in comes Malcolm-Jamal Warner", alongside a sad face emoji.

Peter Andre returns to social media with telling family snap after being slammed by ex Katie Price
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) PETER Andre has returned to social media with a VERY telling family snap, after being slammed by Katie Price. It came not long after his ex-wife Katie, 47, publicly hit out at the dad of two of her children and branded him a "fake saint". 6 Peter Andre has shared a telling family snap after his bombshell statement Credit: Getty 6 It came after his ex-wife Katie took a swipe at his statement where he said 'this ends today' Credit: Getty 6 Pete and Katie were married from 2005 to 2009 Credit: Getty 6 Peter shared this sweet family holiday snap Credit: Instagram The battle of the exes hit it's peak this week when Peter, 52, posted a statement on behalf of his family saying, "this ends today". In retaliation, Katie then shared her own social media post last night, where she was clearly taking a swipe at the Mysterious Girl singer. Now, in his first post since he released his bombshell statement about the on-going feud with Katie, Peter shared a sweet family photo on his latest Instagram Story. In the picture, the singer along with wife Emily and the three kids they share together, could be see standing united. They had their backs to the camera, and they were seen walking along the beach holding hands, as a show of solidarity. Pete simply wrote "Cyprus" over the photo. PETER RELEASES STATEMENT Peter's return to social media came after he addressed the on-going feud between his family and Katie. Tension has been high between the pair, as Katie blames her ex for a rift between her and Princess, 52. Pricey claims she was "banned" by Peter from appearing in her daughter's reality show, The Princess Diaries. On Thursday, the dad-of-five released a statement about his ex-wife saying he'd "stayed silent" for 16 years since their split in 2009. Princess Andre breaks silence on Peter and Katie's bitter feud after his blistering statement Pete said he chose to speak out now after Katie claimed she was being frozen out of Princess' burgeoning TV career. "The latest comments about my children's welfare and living arrangements compel me to set the record straight," Pete wrote in the letter published on social media. "For well-documented reasons, and for their safety, Junior and Princess came into my care in 2018 and remained with me until they reached adulthood." Pete concluded: "Unfortunately, there are many more lies and baseless accusations that I have yet to address. Those will be dealt with in the coming months." 6 The former couple share Junior, 20, and Princess, 18 Credit: Shutterstock Editorial KATIE BITE'S BACK Katie then responded yesterday with her own statement. Although she didn't mention Peter by name in her post, it was clearly taking a swipe at her ex following their public fallout. She wrote: "Saints and Sinners. As we know, in this life we are thought of as Saints and Sinners. "I know I will always be seen as a Sinner. That's fair, I allowed myself to fall into a reliance on drugs and alcohol. At times I was not the mother I should have been while I struggled with mental illness. Peter Andre's statement in full Peter hit back after Katie's claims on her recent podcast that she was being frozen out of Princess's career - despite Princess living with her. Peter wrote on Instagram: "For sixteen years I have stayed silent in the face of repeated lies from my ex-wife and her family, out of respect for my children and loved ones, but staying silence has been incredibly frustrating. "That ends today. "The latest comments about my children's welfare and living arrangements compel me to set the record straight. "For well-documented reasons, and for their safety, Junior and Princess came into my care in 2018 and remained with me until they reached adulthood. "In 2019, the family courts issued a legally binding order to enforce this arrangement. I have never made this public before out of respect for my children." "In 2011 and 2015, publicly documented court cases found my ex wife had made false claims. She was ordered to pay substantial damages and legal costs, and to apologise, to me and my management. "The same falsehoods are being repeated today." "Unfortunately, there are many more lies and baseless accusations that I have yet to address. Those will be dealt with in the coming months." His statement came just hours after Katie claimed that Princess was living with her on her latest podcast. She said: "I've missed out so much with Princess. I haven't watched the show, but, people have told me how proud I should be of the kids and how they Princess does talk highly of me all the way through it so although I'm not in the show she speaks about me all the time which is really sweet. "But why wouldn't she, because she lives with me. And this is another thing I need to clear up, the kids have never lived just with Pete, we've shared the kids." "I have been at times a poor friend, an awful sibling, and an untrustworthy partner. I've self-medicated, been unfaithful, damaged myself and those that I love." The lengthy post continued and then, in a clear swipe at Pete, she wrote: "Some Saints are fake. They play the victim and to succeed in life they need a at least a Sinner. Without the Sinner they don't get to be the Saint... Katie added: "As a Sinner - I sometimes get bored of these Saints." After meeting on I'm A Celebrity in 2004, Peter and Katie had a whirlwind romance which saw them wed the following year, but were divorced by 2009. The couple share kids Junior, 20, and Princess, 18, PRINCESS SPEAKS OUT It was not just the famous exes who were sharing their thoughts in public. Daughter Princess also spoke out about the rift between her parents. The teenager took to Snapchat for a candid Q&A with her followers yesterday, When one fan asked: 'Does it affect you even now when your mum and dad don't get on?', Princess responded with a short video message. 'To be honest it doesn't affect me. At the end of the day, they broke up when I was two years old so I don't even have any memory of them being together,' she said. Over the top of the clip, Princess wrote: 'I love my mum and dad and that's all that matters.'

I'm a TV writer and you need to catch up on these 3 thrilling Netflix series
These Netflix shows all have new seasons coming soon but there's time to catch up A number of Netflix shows have already returned with new seasons during 2025 with even more on the way. This includes some of the streamer's major flagpole titles such as Wednesday and The Sandman. This year will also see the latest and final instalment of Stranger Things after what feels like for fans as a mammoth wait. We've also seen follow ups for Squid Game and You. However there are smaller titles that are yet to make their comebacks to the platform. These are smaller titles that may have passed viewers by during their debut season. There is still plenty of time for Netflix fans to catch up on all episodes before they return. As a TV writer, these are the most underrated Netflix series that are coming back in 2025 or beyond that you should make sure you are caught up on. Alice in Borderland Alice in Borderland is said to be perfect for those who love dystopian sci-fi or Squid Game. The series follows obsessed gamer Arisu who suddenly finds himself in a strange, emptied-out version of Tokyo in which he and his friends must compete in dangerous games in order to survive. There are two seasons to get through before the third lands on Netflix in September. With an 86% rating on website Rotten Tomatoes, some viewers have even declared that it is better than Squid Game. One fan exclaimed: "Alice in Borderland is ten times better than Squid Game. The story, the plot twist, and the cast is 10/10." Another declared: "Alice in Borderland is nothing short of a masterpiece. A perfect blend of heart-pounding suspense, deep emotional storytelling, and jaw-dropping visuals. From the very first episode, it hooks you into a dystopian Tokyo where survival isn't just a game, it's an art." Alice in Borderland season three is streaming on Netflix from September 25. Breathless became the most-watched series on Netflix worldwide when it was released last year. For those who were disappointed over the cancellation of Pulse, it could be the medical drama to support when the second season debuts in October. The Spanish produced series is also said to be ideal for fans of Grey's Anatomy. According to its synopsis the arrival of a prestigious patient at Joaquín Sorolla Hospital highlights the complicated public health situation and lights the fuse of what will be a drastic, unprecedented strike. Upon its initial release, one fan commented: "If you're looking for Grey's type show... recommend Breathless on Netflix. Better and more intense than I'd anticipated. That ending! I need a second season NOW." Another added: "I just finished all 8 episodes of Breathless on Netflix. When's the next season? I am mad it ended where it did." Breathless season two is streaming on Netflix from October 31. The Lincoln Lawyer Of the three, there is still no confirmed date for the return of Lincoln Lawyer. That's a benefit as it has the most episodes of the list to catch up. There are currently three seasons to binge, as the fourth is reported to already be well into production with an expected 2026 release. The riveting series is an adaptation of the novels by Michael Connelly. It follows lawyer Mickey Haller's life as a defense attorney who rules his LA courtroom from the back of a chauffeur-driven Lincoln Navigator. Each season packs it owns punch with facing complex legal battles with their own twists and turns. Each season has one major case that follows through the main plotline and will easily keep you hooked. It boasts a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and the latest season has critics raving with a stellar perfect score. One reviewer exclaimed: "The Lincoln Lawyer is as addictive as a courtroom drama can get." Another added : "One of best if you want a quality thing to watch . This series is a masterpiece in its own way."
