I'm a TV writer and you need to catch up on these 3 thrilling Netflix series
A number of Netflix shows have already returned with new seasons during 2025 with even more on the way.
This includes some of the streamer's major flagpole titles such as Wednesday and The Sandman. This year will also see the latest and final instalment of Stranger Things after what feels like for fans as a mammoth wait.
We've also seen follow ups for Squid Game and You. However there are smaller titles that are yet to make their comebacks to the platform.
These are smaller titles that may have passed viewers by during their debut season. There is still plenty of time for Netflix fans to catch up on all episodes before they return.
As a TV writer, these are the most underrated Netflix series that are coming back in 2025 or beyond that you should make sure you are caught up on.
Alice in Borderland
Alice in Borderland is said to be perfect for those who love dystopian sci-fi or Squid Game. The series follows obsessed gamer Arisu who suddenly finds himself in a strange, emptied-out version of Tokyo in which he and his friends must compete in dangerous games in order to survive.
There are two seasons to get through before the third lands on Netflix in September. With an 86% rating on website Rotten Tomatoes, some viewers have even declared that it is better than Squid Game.
One fan exclaimed: "Alice in Borderland is ten times better than Squid Game. The story, the plot twist, and the cast is 10/10."
Another declared: "Alice in Borderland is nothing short of a masterpiece. A perfect blend of heart-pounding suspense, deep emotional storytelling, and jaw-dropping visuals. From the very first episode, it hooks you into a dystopian Tokyo where survival isn't just a game, it's an art."
Alice in Borderland season three is streaming on Netflix from September 25.
Breathless became the most-watched series on Netflix worldwide when it was released last year. For those who were disappointed over the cancellation of Pulse, it could be the medical drama to support when the second season debuts in October.
The Spanish produced series is also said to be ideal for fans of Grey's Anatomy. According to its synopsis the arrival of a prestigious patient at Joaquín Sorolla Hospital highlights the complicated public health situation and lights the fuse of what will be a drastic, unprecedented strike.
Upon its initial release, one fan commented: "If you're looking for Grey's type show... recommend Breathless on Netflix. Better and more intense than I'd anticipated. That ending! I need a second season NOW."
Another added: "I just finished all 8 episodes of Breathless on Netflix. When's the next season? I am mad it ended where it did."
Breathless season two is streaming on Netflix from October 31.
The Lincoln Lawyer
Of the three, there is still no confirmed date for the return of Lincoln Lawyer. That's a benefit as it has the most episodes of the list to catch up.
There are currently three seasons to binge, as the fourth is reported to already be well into production with an expected 2026 release. The riveting series is an adaptation of the novels by Michael Connelly.
It follows lawyer Mickey Haller's life as a defense attorney who rules his LA courtroom from the back of a chauffeur-driven Lincoln Navigator. Each season packs it owns punch with facing complex legal battles with their own twists and turns.
Each season has one major case that follows through the main plotline and will easily keep you hooked. It boasts a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and the latest season has critics raving with a stellar perfect score. One reviewer exclaimed: "The Lincoln Lawyer is as addictive as a courtroom drama can get."
Another added : "One of best if you want a quality thing to watch . This series is a masterpiece in its own way."

Thursday Murder Club's Jonathan Pryce shares real reason he accepted role on Netflix film
Welsh actor Jonathan Pryce plays Stephen Best in The Thursday Murder Club film. The Thursday Murder Club arrives on Netflix on August 28 and the film, which has a full trailer, is based on Richard Osman's novel of the same name. The movie stars Helen Mirren as Elizbeth Best, a former spy who teams up with other amateur sleuths to investigate cold cases. Elizabeth is married to Stephen, a retired academic who is very well travelled and has written several scholarly books. Post-retirement, he prefers to say at home in his own company and loves a good game of chess. Heartbreakingly, Stephen shows the early signs of dementia and sometimes becomes confused. Actor Pryce shared the main reason why he was so keen to join the Netflix adaptation of Osman's book. He said it was the opportunity to work with Helen Mirren, adding: "That was major. The inspiration for doing this film was to work with her. "We were in the same scene, but I never got to talk to her on Woman in Gold and Helen is an actress I've long admired. "She's extraordinary and it's a privilege to work with her." The 78-year-old actor from Carmel also admitted he has actually never played chess in his life, despite his character being a huge fan. "Haven't a clue! But we had experts on set all the time telling us where to put our pieces," he explained. "It's kind of fun, looking like you're an expert on something and not having a clue." Director Chris Columbus praised the star, saying he is "an actor who can carry several films on his own". He shared: "The fact that he agreed to do a supporting role in this picture speaks volumes about Richard Osman's wonderful source material and his ability to infuse all of the roles, no matter how big or small, with a three dimensional, complex reality." Pryce is otherwise known for his roles in Brazil, Pirates of the Caribbean, Barbarians at the Gate and The Crown. He was honoured with a knighthood for services to drama in 2021. Netflix's scariest horror films including 'masterpiece' that'll leave you covering you eyes
Want to have your mind messed with? These options are sure to have you turning to a night light Netflix offers a plethora of choices for movie night, spanning every genre imaginable. The horror category is no exception, with an array of spine-chilling films and eerie comedies. However, these options may not necessarily deliver the level of terror some viewers crave, offering a more subdued experience instead. Finding a film that delivers pure, unadulterated horror can be a challenge. This was the dilemma faced by one Netflix user recently, who took to Reddit in search of recommendations. Their post read: "I'm in the mood for a horror movie that will actually terrify me, like builds dread, makes my heart pound or messes with my head. Ideally supernatural (ghosts, demons, witches, gore, monsters, curses, that kind of vibe), and I'm totally down for non-English films too (plus jump scares! ) Let me know what truly got under your skin or made you sleep with the lights on. Looking to be deeply unsettled tonight." The responses were filled with excellent suggestions. Here are some of the top recommendations for those seeking a truly terrifying viewing experience, reports the Express. Talk To Me Boasting an impressive 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, this film follows a group of friends who discover how to summon spirits using an embalmed hand. They become addicted to the thrill and high-stakes party game, until one of them takes it too far and unleashes horrifying supernatural forces. One fan who suggested the film commented on the subreddit thread: "Rarely have any recent horror flicks got me under the skin, but yo, this one did." It comes from the Philippou brothers who have more recently released Back to Her in cinemas. One fan said of the film: "Talk to Me isn't just a movie; it's an otherworldly journey that immerses you in a realm of unrelenting terror and profound introspection. A chilling masterpiece directed by the visionary Philippou brothers, this film reignites the horror genre with a searing intensity reminiscent of its illustrious predecessors." Talk To Me is streaming on Netflix. His House Released in 2020, His House has quickly become a firm favourite amongst devoted horror enthusiasts. It even secured a flawless 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie centres on a refugee couple who make a terrifying escape from war-ravaged South Sudan, only to find themselves battling to adapt to their new existence in an English town harbouring sinister forces beneath its façade. The Reddit user who championed the title wrote: "His House on Netflix was terrifying (I had to cover my eyes and plug my ears multiple times) and also a very thought provoking movie. Very well done." While a fan review shared online claims: "His House is an absolute masterpiece that delves deep into the harrowing journey of migrants seeking refuge in a new country. From the moment the film begins, viewers are immersed in the struggles and challenges faced by the protagonists as they flee their war-torn homeland in search of a better life." His House is streaming on Netflix. Veronica The third most popular suggestion via Reddit was Veronica. Whilst it may boast the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score of the three choices, it still maintains an impressive 86%. A Spanish film, set in 1991, during a solar eclipse, a teenage girl and her mates attempt to contact the spirit of the girl's father using an Ouija board. Yet during the séance she loses consciousness and soon it becomes apparent that sinister demons have materialised. It draws inspiration from true events which involve the mysterious death of a young girl who performed a similar ritual at school in Madrid in the 1990s. Nevertheless the director Pedro Plaza did not seek to recreate the real events with the film. This is a choice that abandons jump scares and instead seeks to leave you feeling unsettled. As one fan explains: "Really, one of the best horror movies I ever saw. Veronica may not have those jump scares but still will keep you anxious through out the movie."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's awkward 'A-lister' move after surprise mix up
When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were invited to a movie premiere in Jamaica, a seating mix-up led to a very awkward situation, which has now been decoded by a body language expert While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are used to receiving celebrity treatment, a seating mix up at a movie premiere prompted an awkward reaction from the Sussexes, with Harry's "lack of experience" at Hollywood events making for a cringeworthy moment - according to an expert. Back in January 2024, Harry and Meghan were invited to the premiere screening of the Bob Marley: One Love biopic, making a surprise appearance at the glitzy event at the Carib Theatre in Jamaica. After posing for photos on the red carpet, Harry and Meghan mingled with fans and dignitaries alike, including anti-monarchist Jamaican prime minister Andrew Holness, before making their way inside for the screening. It comes as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's new Netflix deal could cause 'concern' for Royal Family. While the Sussexes made their way to the front row to sit with the other VIPs at the event, it appears they couldn't conceal their shock when they were asked to move a few rows back, leaving them seated in the third row. According to body language expert Judi James, it was Harry more than Meghan who was surprised at the request to sit further from the state. She told the Daily Mail: 'While [Meghan's] smile suggests her expression of utter graciousness was unflinching, Harry clearly hangs back, performing several gestures of reluctance, discomfort and even indecision.' Judi analysed the rest of Harry and Meghan's appearance at the event, noting that Meghan appeared to see it as a "full-blown Hollywood" event as they both pulled moves "A-list celebrity couples perform". She explained: "Meghan seemed to treat this red carpet appearance as a full-blown Hollywood one. She looked regal and gracious in her elegant ballgown and pulled the kind of moves A-list celebrity couples perform, like the romantic gesture of ownership as she places a hand on Harry's chest." Judi added: "Meghan was fully in charge of the steering on the night, gently nudging Harry around and at one point pulling his hand out of his trouser pocket so that she could hold hands with him to walk into the venue.' 'Harry was showing body language signs of anxiety as they posed for their red carpet photos, but these increased and peaked once the couple were inside the venue and being ushered to their seats.' Judi further explained Harry's discomfort at the event as she said: 'For Harry, public functions in the Royal Family have always meant top billing, the best seats in the house and preferential treatment." 'But here there is a more unilateral look, where they were expected to take their own seats and maybe even buy their own popcorn. Harry's lack of experience in this kind of scenario seems to show through here.' According to Ms James, this is not the first time that the couple have appeared to view themselves as "A-listers", as she said at the Invictus Games in Düsseldorf in September 2023, the pair presented themselves as a "celebrity power couple" during a rock star welcome.
