Dolphins agree to terms with Mike Hilton

NBC Sports26-07-2025
The Dolphins doubled up on experienced additions to their cornerback corps on Saturday.
Agent Drew Rosenhaus said that his client Mike Hilton has agreed to terms with the team. That news came after the Dolphins confirmed that they have signed former Patriots and Raiders corner Jack Jones.
Hilton spent the last four seasons with the Bengals and his first four seasons with the Steelers. He had 73 tackles and an interception last season and has 520 tackles, 13 interceptions, 11.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries for his career.
The Dolphins came into camp with questions at corner after trading Jalen Ramsey. They lost Artie Burns to a torn ACL in their first training camp practice and Kader Kohou left Saturday's session after suffering an apparent leg injury, but they have not given any update on his condition.

6 Steelers standouts from preseason win over Jaguars

The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 31-25 in their preseason opener — with several standout performances on both sides of the ball. From outstanding quarterback play to once-injured players making their triumphant returns, to undrafted rookies forging their own path, here are the six best Steelers performers from the preseason opener vs. the Jaguars. QB Mason Rudolph With Aaron Rodgers a healthy scratch in the preseason opener, Rudolph was tasked with leading the offensive charge on the first two drives of the contest — and he did not disappoint. Completing 9-of-10 passes for 84 yards and an opening-drive touchdown pass, Rudolph looked like his 2023 self against the Jaguars. TE Darnell Washington As Jonnu Smith and Pat Freiermuth were dominating the headlines this offseason, one massive Steelers tight end continued to be overlooked: Darnell Washington. The huge 6'7", 265 lb pass catcher has been a red-zone favorite throughout training camp — and it translated to an impressive 19-yard touchdown on the Steelers' opening drive. WR Scotty Miller Similar to Washington, Miller was also turning heads in training camp — but his preseason performance was outstanding in its own right: four catches for 47 yards. If Miller can continue his success throughout the remaining two preseason games, he may be in line for plenty of work with the first-team offense. WR Ke'Shawn Williams The undrafted rookie exploded onto the scene in his NFL preseason debut, catching two passes for 55 yards — the most of any wideout in the contest. Not to mention his viral touchdown taking social media by storm, one in which he all but mossed a Jaguars defender on his way to six points. If Williams' production continues this sky-high trajectory, he could push to make the 53-man roster this upcoming season. LB Cole Holcomb Almost a year and a half removed from a season-ending knee injury, Holcomb reminded everyone watching the preseason opener why he is still one of the most underrated linebackers in the league. His best play of the night was, without a doubt, breaking up a third-down pass intended for RB Tank Bigsby — where he silenced concerns over his explosiveness and speed following his injury. QB Skylar Thompson There was zero chance we could leave Thompson off the list — as the former Dolphins-turned-Steelers QB gave an absolute preseason master class: completing 20-of-28 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns. If there were any Player of the Week awards given out in the preseason, Thompson would receive it hands down — as he all but carried Pittsburgh to their 31-25 victory. Roosters roll on in NRLW as Broncos receive a big scare

The Sydney Roosters have continued their relentless march to the NRLW finals with Brisbane not far behind, although the Broncos had to battle to overcome plucky Canberra to retain their top-two position on the ladder. The Roosters made it six straight wins with a 24-8 victory over Gold Coast at Cbus Stadium on Sunday to stay in top spot, while the Broncos handed the Raiders their fourth loss at home, winning 44-28. But the luckless Raiders did give the three-time premiers a run for their money. Darren Borthwick's team came from 20-0 down midway through the first half to trail by 26-22 with 15 minutes left on the clock. Teitzel, the Broncos' goal-kicking back rower, claimed a personal tally of 16 points from a try and six goals, putting her on 50 for the season, eclipsing Jocelyn Kelleher (Roosters) and Jesse Southwell (Knights) – both on 48 - as the season's top points-scorer so far. The never-say-die Raiders did have the last say with prop Chloe Saunders scoring as the fulltime hooter sounded. "I'm extremely proud at the way we've come together and connected better," said Raiders captain Simaima Taufa as her team continue to search for a maiden win in 2025. Sunday's five tries were in stark contrast to the past two weeks, when the Raiders lost 26-0 to the Cowboys and 18-0 to the Knights. "We knew we had points in us and we never gave up," Taufa said. "I just want them to keep having confidence in themselves, in their ability and their talent. We just have to keep backing ourselves and the chocolates will come." The Roosters scored five tries to two to never feel threatened by Gold Coast, despite the fact the Titans held a 3-2 record over them heading into the match. It just wasn't the Titans' day on the scoreboard or in the casualty ward. They lost five-eighth Pauline Piliae-Rasabale (hamstring) for the second half after she'd scored in the first, then fullback Jaime Chapman was helped from the field (left ankle) in the 49th minute. But debutant and First Nations player Phoenix-Raine Hippi slotted into the No.1 spot after Chapman's injury and scored a try - in her first NRLW Indigenous Round.

Packers WR Jayden Reed in walking boot with foot injury, Week 1 availability in question

Green Bay Packers receiver Jayden Reed is in a walking boot due to a new foot injury that could threaten his availability for Week 1 against the Detroit Lions. Coach Matt LaFleur said Reed's injury is to his left foot only and is unrelated to the toe injury that had him on the non-football injury list to start training camp. "It's unfortunate but hopefully we'll get him back before the regular season," LaFleur said following Saturday night's preseason loss to the New York Jets. LaFleur admitted there is potential that Reed, the Packers' top option in the slot, could miss Week 1. "Any time you see a guy in a boot, that's a concern," LaFleur said. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Reed has a "sprained foot" and is considered "day to day." Reed, the team's leading receiver each of the last two seasons, didn't practice on Thursday and was sidelined for Saturday's preseason opener. He said he suffered the injury while making a cut at practice. The Packers are also missing Christian Watson, who is recovering from ACL surgery, and Dontayvion Wicks, who is nursing a calf injury suffered during training camp. Rookie receiver Savion Williams suffered a concussion early in camp and didn't play in Saturday's preseason opener. The Packers' regular season opener against the Lions is Sunday, Sept. 7, so Reed has roughly four weeks to get his foot healthy enough to play. Veteran Romeo Doubs and rookie first-round pick Matthew Golden started at receiver for the Packers against the Jets.
