Sharad Pawar asks EC to review Rahul's 'vote chori' claim, concedes MVA lacked caution before polls
Addressing a press conference in Nagpur, Pawar admitted that the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi should have been more careful before the elections in Maharashtra.
"We should have looked into it earlier and been careful," he said.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has described the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls as an "institutionalised chori" and claimed that the Election Commission was "openly colluding" with the BJP to carry out this "theft" with the objective of taking away the voting rights of the poor.
Pawar said Gandhi had made his presentation with detailed proof.
"The ECI should look into it," he said.
The veteran leader lamented that Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray's seating at a dinner meeting hosted by Rahul Gandhi has become an unnecessary controversy.
"There was a PowerPoint presentation. When we watch a movie on screen, we don't sit in front but at the back. Farooq Abdullah and I sat at the back. Similarly, Uddhav Thackeray and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah were also seated at the back to watch the presentation properly," he said.
He further stated that the Opposition is yet to decide its stand on the Vice-Presidential election slated for September 9.
Pawar also rejected speculations about his faction joining hands with the ruling NCP led by his nephew Ajit Pawar.
"We will never align with a BJP-led alliance," he asserted.

Bhatti: Devadula project top priority of Cong govt
Hyderabad: The Deputy Chief Minister, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, said that the Chokka Rao Devadula Project holds the highest priority for the state government. During his visit to the project along with his cabinet colleagues N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Vaakiti Srihari, and Seethakka, as well as local MPs and MLAs, Bhatti said that from the very beginning of the Devadula Project until now, the Congress government has taken it up with the utmost prestige. 'It is said that a total of Rs 100 crore is pending, including land acquisition costs and other outstanding bills. We will release these funds in phases. Officials should immediately send the related details. Through this project, irrigation water is being supplied to 17 constituencies in the state,' he said. The Irrigation Minister, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, who accompanied him, said that the project is designed to irrigate 5.57 lakh acres across Hanamkonda, Warangal, Karimnagar, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Jangaon, Yadadri, Suryapet, and Siddipet a total lift of 469 metres—from +71 m to +540 m—and the utilisation of 38.16 TMC over 170 pumping days annually, the project is being executed in three phases. It includes major pump houses, rising and delivery mains, balancing reservoirs, and an extensive canal network to deliver water to high-elevation command areas. Uttam said the revised project cost was Rs 18,500 crore, of which Rs 14,168.49 crore had been spent. An additional Rs 4,331.51 crore was urgently required to clear contractor dues, complete delivery main encasement works, and finalise pending land acquisition. Once completed, the JCRDLIS would stabilise the existing ayacut, provide drinking water to rural habitations, improve crop yields, and reduce migration from water-scarce areas. Earlier in the day, Uttam Kumar Reddy participated in the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Rs 630.30 crore Jawahar Lift Irrigation Scheme (LIS) at Vangaveedu in Madhira mandal, Khammam district, alongside Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, D Seethakka, Vakkati Srihari, and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. Calling it a 'game changer' for Madhira, he said tenders had been finalised and the project would be completed within one year to provide irrigation to 33,000 acres.

Bihar Polls: After Tejashwi, Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Sinha Gets Notice Over Two Voter Cards
New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) has issued a notice to Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha for allegedly being registered as a voter in two different constituencies and holding two separate voter ID cards. This action followed claims made by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday. He accused Sinha of possessing two Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs), a claim that the BJP leader has denied. According to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of Bankipur assembly constituency, Sinha has been asked to explain how he came to be registered in both Bankipur and Lakhisarai constituencies. He has been given until 14 August to respond. Tejashwi Yadav alleged that Sinha's EPIC number in the Lakhisarai constituency is IAF3939337, while in the Bankipur constituency, it is AFS0853341. 'Sinha has two different Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs). Surprisingly, it has happened after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) by the Election Commission in Bihar. Who should be held responsible, either Sinha himself or the Election Commission? What action is being taken against Sinha? When will he (Sinha) resign from the post after the revelations?' Tejashwi questioned. He also pointed out discrepancies in Sinha's age in the two lists. 'While Sinha's age is 57 years on one list and 60 years on another. Is this not fraud and a scam? He must have filled two different forms in two assembly constituencies. He deliberately got two names registered at two different places. If he did not personally sign both forms, did the Election Commission create two IDs for him, based on forged signatures? Deputy CM Vijay Sinha clarified that he is currently registered as a voter in Lakhisarai and had applied to be removed from the Bankipur list in April 2024. 'Earlier, names of mine and my family members were listed in the Bankipur assembly seat. In April 2024, I applied to add my name from Lakhisarai. I also filled out a form to remove my and my family members' names from Bankipur. I have evidence,' Sinha explained. He added that his name was not removed from the Bankipur roll due to unknown reasons. 'For some reason, my name was not removed from Bankipur, and it appeared in the draft electoral roll. I called the booth-level officer and submitted a written application. I have a receipt seeking the deletion of my name from Bankipur,' he said. Sinha also emphasised that he has voted from only one constituency. 'I vote from only one place. Last time, too, I voted from only one place. The prince of jungle-raj (Tejashwi) is simply trying to mislead people by giving wrong facts. The entire Bihar knows that he (Tejashwi) plays the game of tarnishing the image of others. He should apologise for making false allegations against me,' he added.
