OPEN// FM, Trump's senior advisor mull developments in Sudan, Libya
CAIRO, June 1 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty received a phone call on Sunday from Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to US President Donald Trump for Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs and Senior Advisor for Africa.
Boulos expressed deep appreciation for President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's warm reception during his recent Cairo visit, describing it as positive and reflective of the strong bilateral ties.
They exchanged views on the situation in Libya, Sudan, and the Great Lakes region.
Abdelatty shared the outcomes of the tripartite meeting of Libya's neighboring states (Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia), which emphasized the need for preserving Libya's unity and sovereignty and for the withdrawal of foreign forces and militias. Both sides agreed on the importance for achieving stability and ending divisions in the country.
On Sudan, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's support for Sudan's unity and stability and highlighted Egypt's positive engagement with efforts to secure a ceasefire and alleviate the people's humanitarian suffering.
The two agreed to enhance joint coordination with the US and key stakeholders on Sudan.
Regarding the Great Lakes region, the top diplomat welcomed the US-facilitated Declaration of Principles signed by the DRC and Rwanda on April 25, calling it a vital step for peace, stability, and regional development. The two sides agreed to continue working together to achieve the shared goal. (MENA)

OPEN// FM looks forward to strengthening ties with India
CAIRO, June 3 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty voiced hope to capitalize on the momentum witnessed in relations between Egypt and India in recent years to take tangible steps to enhance cooperation in various fields. This came during a meeting on Tuesday with a high-level parliamentary delegation from India, on the sidelines of the delegation's visit to Cairo. During the meeting, Abdelatty highlighted the importance of activating the strategic partnership agreement between the two countries for the best interests of both sides, said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tamim Khalaf. The minister highlighted the importance of utilizing the delegation's visit to Cairo to launch institutionalized cooperation at the parliamentary level between Egypt and India, and to explore new horizons for bilateral collaboration. Meanwhile, the minister expressed Egypt's solidarity with India on the back of the terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam in Kashmir on April 22, 2025, referring to the phone call that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi made with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the incident, as well as the calls that Abdelatty made to his Indian counterpart. This reflects the depth of relations between the two countries as well as Egypt's firm commitment to its humanitarian principles that call for addressing all forms of terrorism. Abdelatty expressed Egypt's concern over the spread of terrorism, which has become one of the most serious security threats facing humanity, highlighting Egypt's adoption of an integrated approach to confronting this phenomenon. Yara Sameh The funeral details of veteran Egyptian actress Samiha Ayoub, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 93, have been disclosed. The iconic actress' funeral is set to be held after Asr prayer at the Police Mosque in the 6th of October City, Giza Governorate, where she is set to be buried afterward in her family's cemetery in 6th of October City. No date has been set for the solace ceremony yet. Dubbed Arab Theater Lady, Ayoub has a vast artistic career that spanned over 50 years. She is known for her work on stage, in cinema, and on television. Ayoub was born in 1932 and began her acting career at the age of 15 by participating in the movie "The Vagabond" (1947). She graduated from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in 1953, where she was taught by the playwright Zaki Tulaimat. From 1972 to 1975, Ayoub managed The Modern Theatre, and from 1975 to 1985, she was the director of The Egyptian National Theatre. Throughout her artistic career, she has presented more than 260 film, TV, and theatrical productions, including 170 plays alone. Her distinguished film contributions include 'Ard el-Nefaq', 'Fagr el-Islam', and 'Bein al-Atlal,' while her notable television works include 'El Doo' el-Shared', 'Awan el-Ward', and 'El-Masrawiya.' Ayoub was honored by President Gamal Abdel Nasser, President Anwar Sadat, Syrian President Hafez al-Assad, and French President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing. In 2015, she received the Nile Award in the Arts, and in the same year, the large hall at The Egyptian National Theatre was named after her, in honour of her outstanding career in cinema and theatre, and her contributions to the theatrical arts in Egypt. In 2021, after a hiatus of 11 years, Ayoub was back on the theater stage through the play' Almaz W Se Abdou'' directed by Mazen el Gharabawy.
