Division chief Dzulkefly Ahmad said the official decision for PH to contest in both of the state constituencies under the Iskandar Puteri federal seat was the result of the party division's annual general meeting on Sunday.
'In this regard, Amanah is prepared to face any possibilities, including a three-cornered contest, if necessary by bringing the people's agenda of unity, institutional reform and sustainable development,' said Dzulkefly, who is also Johor Amanah deputy chairman.
'The annual general meeting also decided that the Iskandar Puteri Amanah wlll contest again in the Kota Iskandar state constituencies as it did in the previous Johor state election in 2022.
PH won Skudai in the 2022 state election, but lost Kota Iskandar to Barisan Nasional.

Dr M will keep digging up dirt to bring Anwar down, says Puad

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad delivered the closing speech at Saturday's Turun Anwar rally, which was estimated to have been attended by 20,000 people. PETALING JAYA : An Umno leader today warned that Dr Mahathir Mohamad would continue trying to dig up dirt on Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in hopes of unseating him from the top post. Puad Zarkashi. Umno Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi said Mahathir, who delivered the closing speech at Saturday's Turun Anwar rally, knew that Anwar could not be toppled from power simply through street demonstrations. 'He will look for sensational issues to play up. He will dig. 'We don't know who leaked the minutes of the Judicial Appointments Commission's meeting. But that was a warning. They will keep digging, digging and digging,' he said in a Facebook post. Puad also recalled a Johor Umno convention he had attended in 1998, which was officiated by Anwar as the party's deputy president at the time. He said former Johor Umno chief Abdul Ghani Othman had spoken against nepotism in his speech and called for economic reforms in the party. Ghani also criticised the establishment of Danaharta, which Puad alleged was a tool to bail out crony firms, purportedly including Mirzan Mahathir's Konsortium Perkapalan Bhd. He said these remarks were welcomed by Anwar, who in his own speech called for swift reforms in Umno and the nation. 'Mahathir surely felt threatened, and I'm confident that was the reason Anwar was sacked, firstly as deputy prime minister and then from Umno. 'Mahathir was clever when it came to looking for solid excuses that would be acceptable to the rakyat and Umno members as justification for sacking Anwar. 'Sodomy was only one of the reasons, it wasn't the main reason. The truth is that Mahathir could not accept anyone touching his family and the possibility of being challenged in the party elections.'

Abolishing tolls would cost billions, says minister

The toll hike freeze was among the initiatives announced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on July 23. PETALING JAYA : Abolishing tolls instead of deferring hikes may cost the government billions of ringgit in maintenance, says works minister Alexander Nanta Linggi. Nanta said scrapping tolls was not a straightforward move, and that deferring increases was a more practical and realistic option. Alexander Nanta Linggi. He added that savings from not abolishing tolls could be redirected to benefit Malaysians in states without tolled highways such as Sabah, Sarawak, and Terengganu. 'It's not easy to abolish tolls because the government must find a huge sum for maintenance work if that happens. 'In my view, we don't need to abolish tolls for now. But if these (concession) companies have achieved their returns on investment, and if the toll rates are burdensome, then we can reduce them,' he said during ministerial question time in the Dewan Rakyat. He did not specify the exact amount needed to abolish the tolls. Nanta was responding to Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (PN–Besut), who asked what had happened to Pakatan Harapan's pledge to abolish tolls during the 15th general election. He reiterated that the government was compensating highway concessionaries with RM568.92 million, or over half a billion ringgit. The deferral on 10 highways would also benefit about 941,000 users, he added. 'We hope this deferment will help ease the cost of living, especially for frequent highway users who commute to work each day,' he said. The toll hike freeze was among the initiatives announced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on July 23, as part of what he described as 'appreciation for Malaysians'. The 10 highways involved in the deferment are the Cheras-Kajang Expressway (Grand Saga), KL-Kuala Selangor Expressway (LATAR), North Klang Straits Bypass (NNKSB), Senai-Desaru Expressway (SDE), East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2), South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE), Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge (JSAHMS), Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE), KL-Putrajaya Expressway (MEX), and Butterworth Outer Ring Road (LLB).

Govt won't interfere in case of Indonesian oil tycoon, says Anwar

Indonesian authorities are currently working with immigration officials in Malaysia to confirm the whereabouts of oil tycoon Riza Chalid. (Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim says the government will not interfere in legal matters pertaining to Indonesian oil tycoon Riza Chalid, who is a suspect in a corruption case related to fuel imports. 'Let the legal process in Indonesia continue,' he was quoted as saying by Indonesian weekly Tempo. However, he did not explicitly respond to questions regarding Riza's presence in Malaysia. Anwar admitted to several editors-in-chief in Jakarta on July 29 that he had met Riza, who is believed to be in Malaysia. On July 16, acting Indonesian immigration director-general Yuldi Yusman said immigration records showed that Riza had been in Malaysia since Feb 6, after departing from Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Indonesian authorities are currently working with immigration officials in Malaysia to confirm Riza's whereabouts. Earlier this month, The Jakarta Post reported that Riza had been named as a suspect in a corruption case linked to fuel imports at subsidiaries of Pertamina, the state-owned oil and gas giant, which registered trillions in losses. Indonesian investigators said they found enough evidence to name the businessman as a suspect in their probe which has seen seven people arrested, including Riza's son, Kerry Adrianto.
