Aubrey Plaza was separated from husband months before his death by suicide
The separation was revealed in a Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's report obtained by multiple outlets on Wednesday. According to People, the report says Baena had been separated from Plaza since last September, roughly four months before his death.
The 47-year-old screenwriter and director was discovered dead by his dog walker at his L.A. area home on the morning of Jan. 3. The medical examiner later ruled Baena's death as suicide by hanging.
No alcohol or illegal drugs were found in his system and no suicide note was left at the scene, according to TMZ.
Per the examiner's report, the couple had been 'experiencing recent marital difficulties,' with Plaza having moved to New York in September.
A month later, Baena allegedly made 'concerning remarks' that prompted Plaza 'to call a friend to perform a welfare check,' the documents state.
Plaza later told police that Baena had been attending therapy since the October incident. He doesn't appear to have made any additional comments that were cause for concern, and Plaza said there'd been no previous suicide attempts, reported TMZ.
Authorities said Plaza last heard from Baena when he sent her a text message just three hours before he was pronounced dead at 10:39 a.m., though it's unclear what the message said.
Plaza and Baena first began dating in 2011 and tied the knot in 2021. Throughout their relationship, they worked together on multiple projects, with Plaza appearing in his final feature film, 2022's 'Spin Me Round.'
Days following Baena's death, Plaza and his family issued a joint statement calling his passing an 'unimaginable tragedy.'
'We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support,' they said. 'Please respect our privacy during this time.'

Lil Nas X jailed on suspicion of charging at police on LA street where he walked nearly naked
LOS ANGELES — Rapper Lil Nas X was arrested and briefly taken to a hospital for a suspected overdose Thursday after Los Angeles police say he charged at officers responding to a report of a naked man walking on a busy boulevard. Lil Nas X, whose legal name is Montero Lamar Hill, was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor obstructing an officer and was being held in jail. Officers found him walking on the normally very busy Ventura Boulevard in the Studio City neighborhood shortly before 6 a.m., Los Angeles police spokesman Officer Charles Miller said. After charging at arriving police, he was taken into custody, but the officers, suspecting a drug overdose, took him to a hospital first, Miller said. There was no further word on his condition, but he was released from the hospital and taken to jail after just a few hours. Video obtained by TMZ appeared to show him on the street wearing only underwear and boots. He was being held at Valley Jail in Van Nuys, near where the police found him. Messages to Lil Nas X representatives seeking comment were not immediately answered. The 26-year-old rapper and singer from Atlanta is best known for his huge hit from 2018, 'Old Town Road,' which merged country and hip-hop. It spent a record 19 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Known for his genre-bending, innovating sounds and style, his first full studio album, 2021's 'Montero,' went to No. 2 on the Billboard album chart and was nominated for a Grammy for album of the year.

IDOC pledges to limit access to inmate records after releasing Byran Kohberger prison rape threat
Idaho prison officials have vowed to limit access to inmate records after releasing a graphic sexual harassment complaint filed by Bryan Kohberger in which the convicted killer begged for a transfer after a fellow inmate threatened to 'b—h f–k' him. 'The Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) recently made available public records associated with complaints filed by Bryan Kohberger in response to public records requests submitted by members of the news media and the public,' a department spokesperson told The Post. 'IDOC seeks to clarify that additional scrutiny will be applied to future requests for public records concerning any individual in IDOC custody,' the spokesperson added. 3 The Idaho Department of Corrections has vowed to limit access to inmate records after releasing Bryan Kohberger's sexual harassment complaint. Idaho Department of Correction 'The media and the public can expect that similar public records requests submitted in the future may be denied altogether or may produce records that will be redacted consistent with the Idaho Public Records Act in order to protect the safety and security of the prison population, staff, and our operations,' the IDOC continued. The policy clarification from the IDOC comes as Kohberger, the convicted killer of four University of Idaho undergrads, barely made it one night in the Idaho Maximum Security Institution in Boise before requesting to be moved to another part of the hellhole prison on July 30 over constant harassment, according to documents obtained by People. The request complained of 'minute-by-minute verbal threats/harassment,' as well as prisoners flooding their own cells with toilet water and other mischief. 3 The prison's statement comes as Kohberger requested to be moved to another part of the Idaho Maximum Security Institution in Boise over constant harassment and crude sexual remarks. via REUTERS Less than a week later, Kohberger gave a guard a handwritten note claiming a fellow inmate had threatened to rape him, People reported. Another inmate allegedly said: 'The only a– we'll be eating is Kohberger's.' The IDOC has previously issued a statement downplaying claims that fellow inmates have been tormenting and taunting the convicted killer by yelling through vents. The department also noted that it will 'comply with all applicable laws' when responding to inmate records requests from the media. 'We will continue to balance confidentiality, public safety, security, and habilitation with the public's interest in disclosure,' the IDOC spokesperson said. 'We also take reports of threats and harassment seriously. Each matter is investigated thoroughly, and when appropriate, we take disciplinary action in accordance with our policies and the law,' they added. Idaho DOC Long-term prisoners are kept in their own cells, moved in restraints, allowed only one hour of outdoor time each day, and allowed a shower only once every second day. The treatment makes Kohberger's pre-trial housing in county jails — in which he took hourlong showers and constantly requested clean clothes and bedding — look downright ritzy. Yet even a lifetime in Block J isn't bad enough for some family members of Kohberger's victims, who had pushed for the death penalty. Kohberger dodged the firing squad as part of a 'guilty' plea deal for the brutal slayings of undergrads Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin in their off-campus house in Moscow, Idaho.

Lil Nas X found wandering Studio City street in just underwear: report
Rapper Lil Nas X was spotted roaming down Ventura Boulevard in Studio City early Thursday morning wearing just white underwear and matching cowboy boots. Video obtained by TMZ shows someone driving by the 'Old Town Road' singer walking in the middle of the street at around 4 a.m. He tells the driver, 'Don't be late to the party,' as he walks away singing a melody to himself. When he's asked about the party, he replies, 'You know where it's at.' He then ushers the driver to 'go ahead, babe' to drive away from him. He tells him again and the video clips to the artist asking the driver, 'Didn't I tell you to put the phone down?' 'Uh oh, somebody's going to have to pay for that,' Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, said. The video shows him singing some more and walking along the desolate street. At one point, he turns around and mentions the so-called party once again. The nearly two-minute video shows him strutting down the road and stopping for a few dance moves. He often mentions the 'party' and that the driver needs to put the phone down and leave him alone. Photos show him putting an orange traffic cone on his head. The Los Angeles Police Department told KTLA 5 that they responded to the 11000 block of Ventura Boulevard at 5:50 a.m. to calls of a naked man walking in the streets. It's unclear if the male was completely naked, as the responding officers didn't indicate what he was or wasn't wearing. When officers arrived, they say the male charged at them and was taken into custody. Police say the suspect was transported to a nearby hospital for a possible overdose and placed under arrest for battery on a police officer. The suspect was not identified and no further suspect description was given. KTLA 5 has reached out to Lil Nas X's team and is awaiting a response. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
