Road accidents or challans (fines) in India are always tough. No one wants to take the blame, and you often end up arguing on the road, wasting time and causing traffic jams. It used to be really hard to prove you weren't at fault.

But now, with good quality dashcams becoming affordable, it's much easier to show what actually happened. Priced at Rs 6,490, the
Qubo Dashcam Pro 2.7K
is one such great choice if you want a dashcam that records clear, high-quality video without costing too much.
Its main goal is to record everything on the road with amazing clarity, so you literally don't miss a single detail. This means you'll have solid proof if anything ever happens! We drove with the
Qubo
Dashcam Pro for about three weeks and here's our take on whether it's a right choice for you.
Design
Qubo's offering sports a compact design with a camera lens and a 2-inch LCD display. At the heart of its performance is a 5MP camera capable of recording in 2.7K QHD+ resolution. Setting it up was an easy process.
Designed for consistent performance across diverse conditions, According to Qubo, the dashcam incorporates a Super Capacitor for operation in varying weather. It is USB Powered for easy connectivity. In the box, you also get an adjustable and detachable mount which can be secured firmly with a strong 3M tape supplied in the box.
It must be noted that once secured, the 3M tape provides a very strong bond, making removal a considerable effort. Therefore, we recommend carefully determining your desired placement on the windshield before application.
The microSD card is not included and you have to purchase it separately. Qubo has provided a list of cards (up to 1TB) that you can use and ones that you cannot.
Performance
The Qubo Dashcam Pro 2.7K sports a 5MP camera that records in about 2.5 times the Full-HD resolution.

This essentially means that we got sharper images and greater detail, essential for capturing crucial elements like number plates. The camera has a 140-degree field of view (FOV) which means that we could record traffic on wide expressways such as Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and Delhi-Noida-Direct Flyway.
There are three ways to use the dashcam.
Continuous Recording: Starts automatically with your car for uninterrupted coverage.

A mode that manages storage by overwriting the oldest footage when the SD card reaches its limit Emergency Recording function: This mode specifically works for critical incidents and takes help of a G-Sensor that automatically secures footage in a protected folder upon detecting a jolt, preventing it from being overwritten.
The Qubo Dashcam Pro 2.7K also gets High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology which means it works fine in most situations, even at night time.
Overall, the dashcam demonstrated strong performance in real-world driving conditions.
However, the dashcam did encounter some challenges in specific scenarios. For instance, when an oncoming car approached with high beams, the clarity of the recording was temporarily compromised as the intense light flashed directly into the lens. Similarly, during rainy conditions, water droplets on the windshield could obstruct the view, affecting the overall clarity of the footage.
Hence, you must pick the placement of the dashcam carefully.
Monitoring the recordings is also easy with the built-in 2-inch IPS LCD Display, which allows real-time viewing. The dashcam integrates with the
Qubo Pro App
, providing instant access to recordings, video logs and downloaded media.
Verdict
Beyond recording, the Qubo Dashcam Pro 2.7K offers significant practical advantages such as avoiding accident blame games, challenging incorrect challans, fast-tracking insurance claims and providing proof against road rage incidents.
At a price of Rs 6,490, Qubo Dashcam Pro 2.7K presents a compelling package for drivers prioritising high-resolution video quality, comprehensive recording features, user-friendly connectivity, and robust reliability, all while maintaining an accessible price point.

MCG & MCM now take AI route to boost property tax collection

Gurgaon: MCG and MCM have introduced artificial intelligence (AI) to boost revenue from property tax. MCG has so far generated a revenue of Rs 200 crore, which is around 72% of its target set for FY26, and MCM's has already crossed the Rs 29 crore-mark, the revenue it generated in the last fiscal year. Using AI, residents with outstanding dues are being identified and approached and their queries resolved. AI also assists them in paying their property tax dues. "We are using AI to boost our property tax collection. We have so far collected a revenue of Rs 200 crore in this financial year so far. Using AI, we generated a revenue of Rs 95 crore in July alone," MCG additional commissioner Yash Jaluka told TOI. This bot answers in real time. If you did not pay property tax, it will ask you what difficulties you faced and subsequently address your concerns. Before reaching out to people, we segregated the data into categories of those who promised to pay or refused to pay the taxes and those who faced difficulties in paying them. Most of the people contacted ended up paying the taxes," he added. Using AI for property tax collection was started as a pilot project in Yamunanagar, where Sinha served as the civic body commissioner before heading MCM. "We were successful in replicating the AI model here in Manesar and Gurgaon. We have collected Rs 29 crore so far, which is our income from property tax for the entire last fiscal," Sinha said. Meanwhile, residents pointed out that since MCG was generating so much revenue, it should invest money in the city's development. "The city is clearly lacking the kind of manpower and machinery it needs to function. MCG should learn from other municipal corporations and invest in the right kind of machinery," said Gauri Sarin, convener of the group Making Model Gurugram.

Union proposes to convert old CNG autos to electric

Mumbai: The Mumbai Rickshawmen's Union has prepared a roadmap to convert existing old CNG autos in the city to electric autos by retrofitting. It has proposed to the MMRTA to allow drivers/permit holders to convert autos to electric once they reach the lifespan of 16 years in MMR. Such autos can switch to electric and ply on roads with zero permit and no pollution for another 5-10 years, union leader Thampy Kurien said. The union has been called to the transport commissioner's office for discussions on this issue on Thursday. Also, the cost of retrofitting is around Rs 1.6 lakh, which is less than the cost of a normal auto (Rs 2.8 lakh) and an e-auto (Rs 3.8 lakh). A proposed model of a retrofitted e-auto has been approved by RTO and registered in Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune. "The union will bring this auto to Mumbai for a demo and test drive on city roads. We will ask drivers to take multiple rides on all kinds of roads—narrow lanes or the arterial road. After getting good feedback, we plan to introduce these kinds of autos in Mumbai," Kurien said. The union has also petitioned the govt to set up more charging stations and will also push for battery swapping stations in the suburbs. Battery swapping can save significant time compared to charging an electric vehicle, particularly for electric three-wheelers. "We are asking MMRTA to allow the autos to continue in electric mode so that the owners/drivers can continue to earn a livelihood," Kurien added. A source from the auto trade said: "There is one problem with having autos running on battery. There is no need for a permit in such vehicles, although they are registered with green number plates. So, these vehicles can ply in MMRTA as well as go to the far-off villages and operate."

4,000+ motorists speeding on Coastal Rd challaned this year

Mumbai: More than 4,000 motorists were challaned by Mumbai traffic police for speeding on the Coastal Road so far this year, with fines issued running up to Rs 82 lakh. Around 1,500 challans have been cleared and Rs 31 lakh in fines paid by offenders so far, the police said. Additionally, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) challaned another 596 motorists for crossing speed limits, including several high-end vehicles such as BMW, Mercedes and Audi. Next, the police plan to go after motorists driving in the bus lane as it hinders the removal of broken down vehicles during emergencies. Residents of south Mumbai have long complained about reckless driving and noise on Coastal Road. "The Coastal Road has become a racing track for fast cars because of the low volume of traffic on the stretch. Fast cars are modified to create loud noise. This is disturbing our peace," said Worli resident and businessman Viren Shah. He added on Sundays, racing enthusiasts gather at a set time, with over a dozen motorists participating. Mukul Mehra, secretary of Nepean Sea Road Citizens Forum, said dangerous driving is witnessed regularly. "Incidents include motorists cutting across three lanes of traffic, at times, in sports cars. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Kate Middleton's Daring Outfit Took Prince William's Breath Away Crowdy Fan Undo The Forum has shared video evidence with the police to substantiate our claims," he said. "There could be a major collision where these fast cars could be a cause, even if not directly involved in the crash," said Mehra. You Can Also Check: Mumbai AQI | Weather in Mumbai | Bank Holidays in Mumbai | Public Holidays in Mumbai Prompted by such complaints, the RTO set up an interceptor vehicle on the Coastal Road. The vehicle captures speed and generates challans. Traffic police also set up a similar interceptor vehicle earlier this year. "On the south-bound arm of the Coastal Road at Worli and on the north-bound arm near the tunnel, electronic displays have also been put up that show the speed of vehicles passing in the lane beneath. Seven speed cameras are being set up for automatic generation of challans," said a police official. Of the total 596 challans issued by the transport department, Tardeo RTO generated 306 and Wadala RTO 290. Four squads have been positioned near crucial entry and exit points to monitor violations. Mehra argued that owners of high-end vehicles spend around Rs 1,500 just on fuel for travelling from Haji Ali to Marine Drive, raising doubts as to whether the fine of Rs 2,000 is deterrent enough. A Breach Candy resident said speeding during the day time appeared to be somewhat under control due to the interceptor vehicles. "But speedsters have figured out that early morning and late night could still work for racing, especially on weekends," she said. The Coastal Road accommodates a daily average of 18,000 to 20,000 vehicles.
