BBC Strictly Come Dancing start date 'leaked' as fans express concern
BBC Strictly fans are abuzz as it appears the launch date of the new series has been 'leaked' ahead of official confirmation.
TV Zone claims on X, formerly Twitter, that the show is set to start a week later than it usually hits the schedule, at the end of September.
The outlet posted: 'FYI - this year's Strictly is a week later than recent series, with the show launching on September 20. Hence, no celebrity reveals just yet.."
A further claim from the publication suggests the first live show in the series will hit the airwaves on Saturday, September 27.
Last year, the first live performances were broadcast on September 21, with the full run kicking off on September 14. And in 2023, Strictly launched on September 23, reports the Express.
Fans took to X today after the news was 'leaked' to express their concern that the change in scheduling times would mean the show is on TV too close to the Christmas period, meaning the celebs and pro dancers taking part would not get to spend enough time with their loved ones.
One said: 'Why so late? Does that mean the final will be closer to Christmas then? I just want the celebrity announcements."
One added: "Yes, it's less than a week before Christmas, which has me worried that the pros are going to be in a hurry to go and see their families around the world .. I hope they were made aware of this when they renewed their contracts."
A third said: "Final will be on Saturday December 20, 2025, just 5 days before Christmas."
The BBC has already confirmed that the judging panel will return as normal, with Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood, and head judge Shirley Ballas, all signed up.
There will also be some new faces on the dance floor this year, with Julian Cailon and Alexis Warr joining the programme as professional dancers.
Earlier today, the first celebrity in the Strictly Come Dancing line up of 2025 was revealed. Olympic champion and Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey will take to the famous dancefloor for the new series in the autumn.

Some BBC viewers will be introduced to TikTok star George Clarke, who hosts the Useless Hotline with Max Balegde, for the first time when he competes on Strictly Come Dancing 2025 George Clarke will be competing on the new series of Strictly Come Dancing after being unveiled as part of the line-up this week. He's the sixth celebrity to be named as a contestant for this year's edition of the BBC show. The content creator, 25, also known as George Clarkey, said in a statement: "Never thought I'd say this … but I'm doing Strictly! George is best known for his work on social media and as the host of the Useless Hotline podcast, which has more than a 100,000 subscribers on YouTube. On his own, he has more than 2 million followers on his TikTok page alone. George's TikTok account dates back six years but he has spoken about how one particular series on his page in 2021 led to the biggest increase in followers. It showed him trying to figure out the cause of a "beeping noise" in his garage, with the first of those videos now having 2.4 million views. Speaking about the impact of it, he said in an interview for AwayDays that was released on YouTube earlier this year: "People for some reason just lapped it up." George said that he got 250,000 followers in a week from the first video. He shared that his parents had been prepared to support him, even before that success, whilst he pursued a career as a content creator after leaving university. He said: "At that point of my life, I don't really know what I was doing." George, who said that he hadn't shared his TikTok page with family initially, recalled his dad finding his account years ago. He said that they then had a conversation about it, which included him receiving the blessing of his parents over it. In the interview uploaded earlier this year, George said he was told that his parents had noticed he was "doing quite well" on TikTok and recalled his dad saying to him: "We'll happily support you if you keeps going up. Obviously if it starts to tail off you need to finish yourself a job." George said that he filmed the beep series some time after that. His content on the platform now ranges from comedy skits to promotional posts for brands. He also collaborates with fellow content creators like Arthur Hill, Isaac Smith, better known as ItalianBach, and ArthurTV's Arthur Frederick. Since his rise to fame on social media, George has ventured in the podcast industry. He's known for fronting the Useless Hotline with fellow TikTok star Max Balegde, with the pair co-hosting the podcast since it launched in 2022. George and Max address dilemmas, talk about their lives and interview celebrities on the podcast. Gordon Ramsay makes his true feelings known towards future son-in-law Adam Peaty
Olympic swimming legend Adam Peaty took on his toughest challenge yet, with future father-in-law Gordon Ramsay in full support. On Sunday, the 30-year-old pushed through a brutal triathlon, surrounded by a very famous cheer squad. The Strictly Come Dancing star, who has six Olympic medals under his belt, dived into his first-ever triathlon as part of the T100 Triathlon World Tour. Gordon, 58, had hoped to take part himself but was benched by doctors after getting stitches in his cheek – but he more than made up for it with enthusiastic sideline support. The triathlon was no joke – a 2km swim, an 80km cycle, and an 18km run made up the punishing course.
