Former Mumbai Indians cricketer, who is Hardik Pandya's Baroda teammate, arrested on rape charges
Former Mumbai Indians cricketer Shivalik Sharma, on Monday, was arrested on charges of rape, according to multiple media reports. The 26-year-old, who plays for Baroda and is a teammate of the Pandya brothers - Krunal and Hardik - was arrested by Rajasthan Police and taken into custody.
According to reports, Shivalik was brought to the court and then sent to judicial custody after a woman, who was in a relationship with the cricketer, filed a complaint at the Kudi Bhagatsani police station in Jodhpur. She alleged Shivalik engaged in physical relations with her under the false pretext of marriage.
The report also added that the two had met in Vadodara two winters ago, after which they developed a close relationship and have since been in touch over the phone.
The Baroda-based cricketer is a left-handed batting all-rounder. He made his debut for the domestic side in 2018 and represented the team in 18 first-class matches, scoring 1,087 runs. Shivalik also featured in 13 List A games and 19 T20s, scoring 322 runs and 349 runs, respectively. With his legbreak googly variety, he has picked three wickets in all domestic appearances.
Shivalik was last seen in competitive action earlier this year in January during Baroda's Ranji Trophy campaign.
Shivalik was picked by the Mumbai Indians at the IPL auction ahead of the 2023 season for a base price of INR 20 lakh but failed to make an appearance. The franchise released him ahead of the mega auction last November.

New Delhi: A major international crackdown has uncovered an extensive illegal Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) operation streaming pirated content across various digital platforms. Operating under brand names such as Boss IPTV, Guru IPTV, Tashan IPTV, Brampton IPTV, Vois IPTV, Indian IPTV, Punjabi IPTV, Edmonton IPTV, Boss Entertainment IPTV, and UltrastreamTV, this unlawful network has been implicated in severe copyright infringement and data privacy violations, According to police, these services have been illegally broadcasting premium Indian and international content including channels and programs from Star, Zee Network, Colors, Sony, Sun Network, ETV, Aha, Sonyliv, as well as global streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and international sports leagues—without securing proper licenses or permissions. Delivered through Android/Linux-based set-top boxes or via apps on smart devices, the illegal services were aggressively promoted online via social media, websites, and blogs, offering premium content at prices significantly below legal services. Government investigations reveal that these platforms do not pay content owners or platforms for rights, deeply harming the entertainment industry. The global South Asian broadcast sector loses an estimated $200–$300 million annually due to IPTV piracy, affecting licensed platforms like YuppTV,. In addition to economic damage, there are serious security concerns: pirated IPTV services often harvest user data—such as credit card information—and are linked to phishing scams, tax evasion, and potentially funding other illegal operations including drug trade and terrorism. Previously in 2021, following a complaint filed by YuppTV, the Faridabad Cyber Crime Branch conducted a raid on Boss IPTV operations in India, leading to the arrest of six individuals connected to the illegal piracy network. YuppTV has further filed a civil complaint in the United States District Court, represented by Goldstein Law Group, LLC ('GLP') targeting Boss IPTV and its affiliated entities. The complaint highlights severe violations of U.S. federal copyright law under 18 U.S.C. § 2319. According to GLP: 'Any subscriber using illegal IPTV pirate services… may be linked to copyright infringement, a crime under U.S. federal law. Convictions may result in felony charges, and non-citizens convicted of such offenses may be subject to deportation under U.S. law.' Recently, another similar case was reported by the Gandhinagar Cyber Crime Unit in Gujarat which arrested Mohammed Murtuza Ali, suspected to be the key figure behind another massive illegal IPTV operation known as Bos IPTV. Operating from Jalandhar, Punjab, Ali allegedly ran a piracy network that drew over five million subscribers and generated close to ₹700 crore (US $84 million) in annual revenue. Legal authorities suggest that to avoid the possibility of arrest and other penalties, all current users accessing pirated services immediately discontinue use and migrate to legal, licensed platforms such as YuppTV. Man nabs snatcher fleeing with wife's purse at ISBT-17, Chandigarh
Displaying quick reflexes, a Yamunanagar-based tailor caught a man who snatched his wife's purse while they were boarding a bus from Sector 17, ISBT, said police on Sunday. The accused was identified as Rajesh of Sonipat. The incident occurred around 11.30 am on Saturday when Manoj Kumar, 38, of Yamunanagar, was boarding a bus at counter number 17, along with his wife Shiv Kumari and their two children. The family was returning to their hometown after attending a wedding in Kajheri village and was preparing to head back home. According to the FIR, as the couple placed their luggage on a front seat, the unidentified men who were already on board allegedly told them that the seat was reserved for staff. Manoj and his wife moved to the back, unaware that they had left the purse behind. 'One of them took my wife's purse and swiftly got off the bus,' Manoj told the police, adding, 'She saw him leaving and shouted for help. I chased him down and managed to catch him at some distance from the bus his two accomplices managed to flee the scene.' A case was registered at Sector 17 police station under Sections 303(2) and 317(2) of the BNS, 2023.
