'It was not intentional': India batter responds to shoulder contact controversy after ICC fine
India batter Pratika Rawal addressed the controversy surrounding her shoulder contact with England players during the first Women's ODI, stating it was unintentional, after the ICC fined her 10 percent of her match fee and issued one demerit point for breaching the Code of Conduct on Friday in London.
The ICC penalized Rawal for engaging in "avoidable physical contact" with England's Lauren Filer and
Sophie Ecclestone
during the 18th and 19th overs of the match at Southampton.

"It was not intentional. I was just running in my way and that shoulder barge thing was completely out of... It was not deliberate in that sense," Rawal explained to media before the second ODI.
"I don't think there is a (need to have a) reaction to it or maybe (make) a fuss out of it.
It was not intentional," she added.
England also faced penalties, with a five percent match fee fine for maintaining a slow over-rate in the opening ODI, which India won by four wickets.
Both Rawal and England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt accepted their respective sanctions imposed by the match referee.
Rawal discussed India's approach to the series, following their 3-2 victory in the five-match T20I series.
"We are taking just one game at a time.

Yes, they will win
No, they will lose
"Also, what I feel like, keeping one thing at a time, it helps with better focus and better concentration so we are just on that note," she continued.
The right-handed opener, who scored 36 runs off 51 balls in the first match, emphasized the importance of performing well against strong teams.
"Scoring well against teams like England and Australia gives you a lot of confidence and when we get a lot of matches against them, it builds a type of confidence that is required in the upcoming series and matches," Rawal said.
She praised the team's progress and highlighted the value of playing multiple matches.
"It's a great initiative to play as many matches as we can. Also, the fact that the way our team is progressing right now is amazing and there has been a lot of contribution from all the players," she concluded.
India now needs just one win from their next two matches to secure the ODI series victory, before facing Australia in three ODIs ahead of the World Cup at home.

Aus A games perfect prep leading into World Cup: Tahlia McGrath
Australia vice-captain Tahlia McGrath while explaining why she chose not to take part in this year's The Hundred, said that she believes playing with Australia A in Brisbane against India A this week will be an ideal preparation for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup in India, starting September 30. While the majority of Australia's likely World Cup squad are currently plying their trade in the ECB's 100-ball tournament, McGrath is one of five CA-contracted players included in the 50-over squad to meet India A in three ODIs, alongside skipper Alyssa Healy, allrounder Tess Flintoff and quicks Darcie Brown and Kim Garth, from August 13 to 17. "It's the longest time off I've had in a number of years, so it was nice to go tools down for a bit, get a proper reset, proper refresh. It's been a really nice build-in to work on some things, to spend some time in Brissy with the girls with some camps, and then finish off the preseason with some Aus A games, which is in my eyes the perfect prep leading into a World Cup. (I'm) still at home, I get to trial a few things, and it's in the fifty-over format as well," McGrath told Australia women had a long winter layoff, as their last series was a three-game T20I tour of New Zealand in March, when McGrath stepped into the leadership role in the absence of regular captain Alyssa Healy. Now they have a daunting travel schedule across the next nine months. Australia's first World Cup match is now 50 days away, and the team is set to spend up to seven weeks in India, beginning with a three-match ODI series before the start of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup. If Australia reaches the final, the players will have just a four-day break before the Women's Big Bash League starts on November 9. McGrath is also expected to return to India in January for the Women's Premier League, which will be followed by consecutive multi-format series - first against India at home, then against the West Indies away. Around six weeks after the end of the Caribbean trip, Australia's T20 World Cup campaign will begin in England.

India's Asia Cup Squad Revealed: Gill Named Vice-Captain, Jaiswal Misses Out, Fitness Update on Suryakumar Yadav
Shubman Gill leadership role when India's T20I squad for the India Asia cup squad 2025 is picked in a few weeks. The BCCI senior selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar could name the team on August 19 or 20, after they receive medical reports of all players from the Sports Science unit of the Centre of Excellence. India's premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is confirmed for the Asia Cup but is likely to be rested for the first Test against the West Indies in early October owing to the congested schedule. Gill had just led India in Tests, where he amassed 754 runs against England in the format. In India's last home T20I series, Axar Patel was made the vice-captain. In Suryakumar Yadav's first series as T20I skipper in Sri Lanka last year, Gill and Suryakumar Yadav fitness. Now the two players are again in the contention for the same leadership position and selectors will have to make a tough choice between rewarding form and allowing for continuity once more. The report suggests that the selection panel will unlikely disrupt the nucleus that has functioned well under Suryakumar's captaincy so far. India's current batting combination of Suryakumar Yadav, Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya also looks settled for now, with Abhishek at the top of the ICC T20 rankings. Shubman too had a good IPL and his Test form is phenomenal, but how do you fit everyone into the top order? That will be a big challenge,' a BCCI insider was quoted as saying by PTI. Sai Sudharsan and Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped but may have to wait for their turn, as KL Rahul, the preferred choice in ODIs, will not be in reckoning for not featuring in Asia Cup 2025 India team plan.
