Everton flop Moise Kean has already given reason to snub Man Utd transfer
Manchester United have been linked with ex-Everton striker Moise Kean, who enjoyed a prolific first season with Fiorentina during which he scored 25 goals across all competitions
Everton flop Moise Kean has emerged a surprise transfer target for Manchester United. Kean's ill-fated £27.5million move to Everton in 2019 ultimately saw him spend more time out on loan than playing for the Toffees over a disappointing four-year spell.
The striker only scored four goals in 37 appearances for Everton, resulting in him rejoining Juventus on a permanent basis in 2023 after an initial two-year loan. Now at Fiorentina, Kean has finally put his Goodison Park woes behind him and rekindled his career.
Fiorentina paid just £11m for the Italian in what's proven to be a bargain transfer deal. Kean, 26, finished his first season playing for La Viola with 25 goals in 44 appearances.
The former Paris Saint-Germain loanee helped Fiorentina reach the Conference League semi-finals and qualify for Europe by finishing sixth in Serie A. His prolific form has prompted links of a move to United, who are looking for a new striker.
In good news for Ruben Amorim, Kean has a release clause of £44.5m which is active between July 1 and 15. Although paying the fee is cut and dry, convincing the 26-year-old to return to England after a troublesome time on and off the pitch could be difficult.
During an interview with the Athletic last season, Kean revealed how much he disliked the weather in the north west of England. "They were so used to not seeing the sun, they were barbecuing on the beach in winter," the Juventus academy product recalled.
"They were in short sleeves in winter. I said to myself: 'These people are out of their minds'."
Kean is still grateful for the experience, adding: "England made me learn a lot about myself. I matured a lot. When I got there I didn't play much. I used to think, 'How am I not getting into this team, at Everton?"
Should Moise Kean give the English weather another chance? Have your say in the comments section.
"Mentally, it made me evolve. I wasn't playing and it was in dark times that I knew I had to grit my teeth and train even more. Then the chance to go to PSG came along, I moved there and got everything out of myself that I could. I wasn't playing at Everton and I knew I had to give triple, that's how it went."
United aren't the only club to have been linked with Kean, who's under contract at Fiorentina until 2029. Saudi Arabian side Al-Qadsiah are said to also be interested, with his release active for the first 15 days of July every year.

These are the latest transfer rumours surrounding Scottish football on Monday evening , including Rangers, Celtic, Hibs and more. St Mirren agree deal for 29 y/o midfielder St Mirren have confirmed the arrival of their fifth summer signing with the arrival of versatile ex-Kilmarnock midfielder Liam Donnelly on a two-year contract. The Northern Ireland international's move to Paisley will see him reunite with head coach Stephen Robinson, who he played with during his reign at Motherwell, with Donnelly inking a contract at the SMiSA Stadium following the expiry of his contract at Rugby Park this month. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'I know the manager well and have seen the success of the club the past few years,' Donnelly said upon his arrival. I want to be a part of that and hopefully we can do similar this season. It's a very good setup at the stadium and the training ground. Everyone has been very welcoming." Head coach Robinson echoed the player's delight at the transfer, adding: 'Technically, he is very good as well and he gives us options in numerous positions. Liam can play anywhere in the back three, he can play at full-back in a four or he can play as a six or an eight in midfield as well, so it gives us a real lot of options in terms of where we can play him.' Liam Donnelly will reunite with former boss Stephen Robinson at St Mirren. | SNS Group Hibs 'priority' given transfer truth bomb Hibs head coach David Gray has admitted 'everybody' at the club would like to see loan star Nectar Triantis return to Easter Road this summer. The Sunderland midfielder was a revelation for the Leith outfit last season after joining the club on a season-long deal, and the club are now hopeful of they can bring him back to the capital on a permanent basis. The Black Cats thought to be looking for a fee of £1million but, with rumoured interest from Germany and America, Gray has urged Triantis to pick a club that help him continue his rapid progression by offering him regular first team football. According a report from the Edinburgh Evening News, the Australian is Hibs 'number one transfer priority' this summer, and head coach Gray admitted the club are keeping tabs on the 22-year-old as the summer progresses. 'The conversations we're having are about what does it look like to try and bring him back?' said Gray. 'Is it something we can possibly do? We are having the conversations to see what that looks like. I think Nectar even said himself last season how much he enjoyed being here. How much he felt he improved - but also the improvement that is still to come from him. What he really benefitted from was playing football week in, week out. That's what every young player needs at that sort of age.' Hibs want to bring Nectar Triantis back to the club next season Cr: SNS Group. | SNS Group SPFL club sign former Hibs trialist A former Hibs trialist is set to return to Scotland this summer after his release from Leeds United this summer. Ex-Whites defender Kris Moore was handed the opportunity to impress the Easter Road hierarchy back in January of last year, when he was handed a trial by former head coach Nick Montgomery during a training camp in Dubai. He also had a spell on trial at St Johnstone last season. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Speaking at the time of the trial, Montgomery said: 'Kris Moore, a young defender from Leeds, we've had a look at him. We didn't have enough bodies really to come to the camp so it was a good opportunity to bring him and have a look at him at right back with Lewis Miller being away.' However, the 21-year-old did not do enough to earn a permanent move to Leith, but is now reportedly close to joining Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton. As per the Daily Record, the defender Moore has travelled to Morton, and is expected to join up with the Morton squad 'imminently.' Kris Moore has left Leeds United after failing to make a first-team breakthrough - and could join Greenock Morton. | Bruce Rollinson Rangers in 'advanced' discussions with key target Rangers are in 'advanced discussions' with Leicester City over a move for centre-back Conor Coady, according to the Daily Record. The Ibrox hierarchy are said to be 'very keen' to sign the 10-cap England international, but were set to be rivalled by English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers for his signature. The Midlands club were said to be keen on reuniting with their former captain, whose future at the King Power Stadium is unclear as he enters the final year of his contract. However, it appears that Russell Martin may have won the race for Coady after it emerged that the 32-year-old's move north is at an advanced stage. Elsewhere, recently released Rangers midfielder Tom Lawrence has been tipped to make an emotional move to hometown club Wrexham this summer following their promotion to the EFL Championship. Reports claim Lawrence has been 'flattered' by the Welsh sides interest and the second tier newcomers are ready to put together an attractive package in order to tempt him to the STōK Racecourse Stadium. The 20-year-old Republic of Ireland star was valued as high as £100million when he broke onto the scene with the Seagulls two years ago, but has fallen down the pecking order at the AMEX Stadium over the last season, and spent the second-half of last season on loan to West Ham United. The youngster is thought to be available on a potential loan deal this summer as he looks to kick start his stuttering career and, according to the report, Celtic believe they can complete a deal. The report claims Celtic believe their ability to offer him guaranteed playing time alongside Champions League football could help them edge ahead of Nottingham Forest and Everton.

Enzo Maresca to rest players for Chelsea vs Esperance de Tunis at Club World Cup
The Blues need only avoid defeat against the Tunisian side in Philadelphia to be assured of a place in the last 16 and the Italian is set to take advantage of his side's position in the group after two matches to give some rest to his squad. Captain James is unwell and did not train on Monday while fellow defender Levi Colwill is likely to be left out having also been suffering from illness. 'Tomorrow we will do some rotation because the ones who played two games are quite tired to play again,' said Maresca. 'So we will make rotation and we will see if there is a chance for those who haven't played as much. 'Reece, the reason why (he didn't train) is because he is ill. Levi Colwill has also been ill in the last two days, but today was better and part of the session.' Maresca will also be without Nicolas Jackson who serves a one-match ban following his dismissal for a studs-up tackle in the 3-1 defeat against Flamengo. The Senegal striker was shown a straight red card minutes after his team had conceded two quick-fire goals to throw away the lead against the Brazilian side. It is the second time in as many months that the 24-year-old will have served a suspension for getting sent off after he was red carded in the Premier League run-in for elbowing Newcastle defender Sven Botman. Chelsea went on to lose 2-0 at St James' Park. Maresca's side also have a punishing climate to cope with in the United States as they seek to avoid the embarrassment of a group-stage exit, with temperatures hitting 38 degrees in Philadelphia on Monday. Off the back of a season in which the team went all the way to the final of the Conference League, as well as Champions League qualification going down to the final day of a hard-fought Premier League run-in, the Italian has been forced into caution over how much he can squeeze from his squad. 'It's almost impossible to train a full session because of the weather,' he said. 'We are trying to save energy for the game. This morning's session was very short, just plan for tomorrow, that's it. No more than that. 'It's not easy with these temperatures, but we will give our best tomorrow to get to the next stage of the competition.' Prior to the defeat to Flamengo, the Blues had got their time in the US off a smooth start with a 1-0 victory over Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC.
