Copenhagen Fashion Week sets early tone for SS26 trends

Fashion United2 days ago
The Spring/Summer 2026 buying season began in Copenhagen this month, with Copenhagen Fashion Week (CPHFW) consolidating its status as the first major fixture on the global fashion calendar. Acting as an early trend indicator for the luxury market, the event provided wholesale buyers with a clear picture of what will drive assortments in the months ahead.
Joor, the wholesale management platform processing nearly 20bn dollars in annual transactions, has identified six key trends from the shows: Oversized tailoring – masculine-inspired suits with exaggerated shoulders and double-breasted jackets, signalling a continued appetite for strong silhouettes. Modern minimalism – precise lines and asymmetric folds, with a notable absence of embellishment, reinforcing Scandinavian restraint. Nu florals – sculptural, textured treatments offering a departure from conventional botanical prints. Ready-to-rainwear – lightweight, practical outerwear designed for urban settings, underlining the growing commercial appeal of functional fashion. Billowing trousers – wide-leg and harem shapes providing volume and statement-making proportion. Nordic neutrals – an earthy palette dominated by sand, cream, taupe and cocoa tones, already a proven commercial performer in northern European markets.
CPHFW's influence has grown steadily in recent seasons, attracting a mix of established names and emerging labels. Amanda McCormick Bacal, Joor's SVP of Marketing, describes it as 'a must-watch' event, with a 'dynamic mix' of brands that set the tone for global buyers.
Joor's position, connecting over 14,000 brands and 675,000 curated buyers across 150 countries, gives it a data-backed vantage point. The platform's client list includes luxury conglomerates LVMH, Richemont and Capri, as well as Valentino, Loewe and Stella McCartney, alongside exclusive retail partners such as Harrods, Selfridges, Printemps and Dover Street Market.
For buyers, the SS26 trends out of Copenhagen present both reassurance and opportunity. Core categories such as tailored suiting and neutral palettes remain commercially reliable, while design-led details, from sculptural florals to rainwear with couture-level finish — provide newness for consumers seeking distinctive updates. The emphasis on proportion, particularly in trousers and outerwear, suggests a continued break from the slimline silhouettes that dominated pre-pandemic.
With the buying season now under way, these early trend signals from Copenhagen are likely to influence order books far beyond Scandinavia, setting an agenda that blends functional utility with calculated design risk.

The B-listed 95 Bothwell Street building in the city centre is understood to be mostly empty. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Plans have been lodged with Glasgow City Council to transform 95 Bothwell Street Credit: Google Maps It's one of Glasgow's biggest American Classical-style commercial buildings. Proposals to turn it into a 235-room hotel have been submitted to the council. But details about the hotel company eyeing to take over the building have been kept under wraps. A statement about the proposed design read: 'The proposed confidential hotel operator is particularly excited about the potential provided by the building to create a best-in-class hotel of distinction, which they anticipate will be one of the finest in their operator's European portfolio. 'The listed building is soon to become entirely unoccupied. The commercial office use for which the building was built and designed is no longer viable. "The building has early indications of corrosion of the structural steel frame, which needs to be addressed to prevent damage to the significant external masonry façade. 'The proposed development is conservation-led and will integrate and repurpose the significant parts of the listed building into the new hotel use, whilst retaining its external appearance and presence within the street.' HFD Property Group Limited has lodged a planning permission request to alter the use of the building from 'offices at upper floors and restaurant/cafe and retail on ground floor to hotel". The proposals also include constructing a two-storey roof extension. Glasgow City Council is considering the application.

Popular brand launches holiday-inspired perfumes and one is like 'sunshine in a bottle'

The inclusive fashion house has tried their hand at personal fragrance and we've got our hands on them Popular high street retailer Never Fully Dressed is best known for their stylish ensembles, but now, the growing brand has dipped it's toe into new territory with it's first foray into fragrance. It's a smart move, and a 'natural next step' for the retailer, seeing as we have to agree that no outfit is complete without a spritz of perfume. As such, Never Fully Dressed has released two stand out scents that come in both a wearable perfume and candle form. Both scents, named 001 and 002, have been inspired by the Balearic Islands, making them ideal picks for summer. Speaking on the launch, NFD founder Lucy Aylen said: 'Our community has always inspired how we create - and scent was the natural next step, we wanted to bottle up that feeling of empowerment, connection, and freedom you get on a European holiday. Whether it's morning espresso in the sun or dancing barefoot under the stars - these scents bring the story to life.' Shoppers 'stop using shower gel' thanks to new 'favourite' that 'smells better' Olivia Attwood's 'stunning' initial necklace that 'goes with everything' is on sale Naturally, our scent enthusiasts, perfume expert Jada Jones and former Boots fragrance counter employee Bethan Shufflebotham couldn't wait to try them out. For fans of Jazz Club and Tobacco Vanille, 001 is probably the way to go. It combines spices like saffron, cinnamon and black pepper with coffee, rum, sandalwood and oud for something perfect for cooler months. Meanwhile, those who prefer a fruitier fragrance that lends itself to sunny days, the raspberry-forward 002 could be the perfect alternative to scents like Jo Malone Raspberry Ripple or Mugler's Angel Nova. Jada tried 001 I was very nervous when I saw what notes were in this perfume as I typically avoid saffron, oud and tobacco in my own perfumes. Any nerves I had were quickly squashed as soon as I first sprayed it from the bottle. Although I definitely lean more to classically feminine fragrances and this one is undeniably unisex, there's a sultry vibe to it that makes it quite pleasant. I think it's on the heavier side for summer but can see this being a hit this autumn. It would be such a great date night scent and there's the added bonus that it smells a lot more expensive than it is. The bottle is also a stunning addition to any collection. I found it easily lasts six hours on my skin and didn't need topping up, it might have the potential to last longer although I've not noticed that yet. This would make a great gift and has the added benefit of leaning unisex so it's easy to share with loved ones. I'm curious to see where this range goes. Bethan tried 002 I can't talk about this perfume without first mentioning the absolutely gorgeous bottle. It comes in an amber vessel with a pink marble effect lid, which I think I could repurpose as a little candlestick holder when I'm through with the scent. It looks stunning on display on a dressing table, which means I find myself reaching for it more frequently than the bottles I have stashed in a drawer, too, so I've no doubt I'll get through this fast. If the packaging wasn't joyful enough, then comes the fragrance itself, which really is like sunshine in a bottle. It's not your classic Sol de Janeiro kind of holiday scent, but really offers up something a little bit different and unique. When you first spray it, you get a fresh, juicy hit of raspberry with a little spicy kick from pink pepper - it's bright and uplifting so you feel instantly awake and the juxtaposition between the two notes is lovely. After a few minutes, it softens into a mix of fresh greens and florals thanks to the jasmine and cedar leaf. It's still light, but feels a bit more grown-up and polished. Then as it dries down, the scent turns warmer and more addictive, with vanilla, amber and patchouli. While the fragrance is distinctly a day-time scent, it's these final notes which make it great for layering for an evening vibe. It costs £69 for the 100ml, however, those looking just to try it out can get the 10ml for £19 - ideal for travelling - however, you don't then get the benefit of the beautiful bottle.
