Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's daughter Sunday grateful peers don't know her background

Perth Now07-08-2025
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's daughter thinks it is "wonderful" when people don't know who her famous parents are.
Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, 17, is grateful she can usually connect with others her own age without them knowing her background so they can get to know her for who she is, rather than have any preconceptions.
She told Nylon magazine: "When people my age meet me, they normally don't know anything about my life, which is sort of wonderful because I am able to make a first impression based on who I am and not who my family is."
Sunday Rose - who made her runway debut for Miu Miu's last October - is "really glad" her parents put rules in place about her modelling career as she was growing up.
She explained: "There are two big rules. The first was that I couldn't explore any kind of fashion work until I was 16, and the second is that school always has to come first, which at first I hated, but I am actually really glad that I have these rules in place because it keeps me in a good mindset."
And the aspiring filmmaker is also grateful for her upbringing in Nashville because she knows there will always be time for her to experience life in a big city as she gets older.
She reflected: "The city has changed so much over the years, but it's been nice to grow up in more of a small town than a big city. I will have time to experience that in life, whether it's during college or later, so I like that I've gotten to grow up in a city that has a bit of a slower pace.
"It also makes it really exciting to travel for work to places like Paris or New York."
Sunday Rose's interest in fashion came from going to work with Big Little Lies star Nicole when she was younger.
She said: "Growing up, I went to my mom's photo shoots a lot and got to observe, which definitely led to my interest in exploring the modeling world."
As well as being able to seek advice about life in the spotlight from her parents, the teenager has also been guided by Cara Delevingne.
She said: "I actually got the opportunity to sit and talk with Cara Delevingne the night before the [Miu Miu] show — we have a mutual friend.
"I got to ask her questions and talk to her about her experience as a model.
"It was nice to get to know her as I've looked up to her for a long time, but even better was that then the next day at the show, I had a familiar face who could show me the ropes."

Zoe Kravitz and Lisa Bonet lost snake in Taylor Swift's house

Zoe Kravitz and her mom almost lost their pet snake in Taylor Swift's house. The Big Little Lies actress and Lisa Bonet were staying at her friend's home amid the Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year when they got into a "little bit of a pickle" after the 57-year-old model's beloved reptile Orpheus slithered its way into a tiny hole in the bathroom and they were unable to retrieve her without causing major damage. Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Zoe said: "She was kind enough to let me stay at her house... "We ended up having to stay there for about two weeks and Taylor has this beautiful house—it's from the '30s, something you want to preserve and take care of. "So me and my mom are living in this house together, it was the last day - I was gonna leave, my mom was gonna stay longer, but I had to go for work. "I was kinda going around packing up my things and saying to my mom, 'I wanna be a good houseguest'. I leave places better than I found them. I don't want her to even know we were here.' "I'm going around cleaning up. I'm downstairs and she's upstairs and my phone rings and it was my mom. I'm like, 'That's weird, we're in the same house.' "She goes 'Hi' and I'm like, 'Your voice is super high'. And she goes, 'I'm in a bit of a pickle. Can you come upstairs?' "I go upstairs, the bathroom door is closed, so I open [it] and she's crouched in the corner in this weird way. She says, 'So I was washing my face and I had Orpheus, and I just put her down for a second, closed the door, and she found this little hole in the corner.' "There was a little hole, that you wouldn't even know was there, right in the corner of the bathroom. The hole is next to a banquette that is built into the wall," "My mom is holding the snake's tail. Snake's tail, they're all muscle and very, very strong. I'm like 'Maybe this hole goes into the drawers [underneath']. I get down on the ground, take the drawers out, no." Zoe began "freaking out" as the snake got further and further into the hole and called for help from the house manager, who began "tearing apart" the banquette. She continued: "We're ripping up the tile. We're scratching the walls. We destroyed her bathroom. "I was like, 'Either we destroy her bathroom or I have to tell her that there's a snake somewhere in her house,'" "I said to her house manager, 'Obviously, I'm gonna pay for everything to be fixed. Please just don't say anything until it's fixed.'" But when the 36-year-old star called her pal, the Look What You Made Me Do hitmaker was already well aware of what had happened. She said: "I remember calling her saying, 'Hey, I wanted to talk to you about something.' And she was like, 'Is it the fact that you almost lost a snake in my house and destroyed my bathroom?' "

Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, 17, opens up about the one modelling rule set by celebrity parents Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban that she 'hated' at first

Sunday Rose Kidman Urban has revealed the major rule her famous parents, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, laid down before she could begin her modelling career- and why she "hated it" at first. The 17-year-old, who made her professional modelling debut at Paris Fashion Week last year, fronts the August issue of Nylon magazine and spoke candidly about life in the spotlight and what it's like growing up as the daughter of two of the world's most recognisable stars. She explained that her parents had "two big rules" before she stepped into the public eye. "The first was that I couldn't explore any kind of fashion work until I was 16, and the second is that school always has to come first, which at first I hated, but I am actually really glad that I have these rules in place because it keeps me in a good mindset," Sunday Rose said. Raised in Nashville, Tennessee, alongside her 14-year-old sister Faith Margaret, Sunday Rose turned heads in October when she opened the Miu Miu spring/summer 2025 show. At the time, Urban, 57, told People he hopes he and Kidman, 58, can help keep their daughter "balanced" as her star begins to rise. "Hopefully, she'll benefit by having two parents who know about a certain amount of celebrity," the Aussie rocker said. "It's all a challenge. I mean, raising kids is a challenge, period. It's about trying to keep a balance." That approach appears to be working, with Sunday Rose admitting that even while walking in her first runway show, schoolwork was top of mind. "So at my first show, while I was walking, I was actually just thinking about the amount of schoolwork I was going to have to make up!" she said. "I was really just hoping my teachers would let me have a couple days when I got back." The teenager says she enjoys the slower pace of life in Nashville, where most people her age don't know she has celebrity parents. "It's sort of wonderful because I am able to make a first impression based on who I am and not who my family is," she said. Still, Sunday Rose has big dreams, hoping to study filmmaking at university in a city like Los Angeles or New York. "Filmmaking has actually been my dream career since I was five, so I hope I'm able to study that in college," she said. Since her Miu Miu debut, Sunday Rose has appeared in an editorial campaign for the Italian fashion house and walked for its fall/winter ready-to-wear fashion show in March. In July, she starred in Omega's summer 2025 campaign- a brand her mother has been an ambassador for over two decades. Kidman, who also shares two adult children, Bella and Connor, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, recently told Vanity Fair she encourages her kids to seize opportunities. "It's what I try to teach my kids because I don't know what their futures are: Hold on and go for it and take the opportunities when they arise and jump in and try something," the Aussie actress said. "The worst you can do is fail. That may be humiliating, but at least you don't go, 'Gosh, I wish I'd tried that, and I regret that I didn't'."
