Cannibal killer who ate heart of victim and chopped off his penis

A 44 year old man has been handed a death sentence in Tarrant County, Texas after being found guilty by a jury of the horrific murders of three individuals.
In addition to executing the savage killings, he also dismembered his victims and set their bodies alight.
Over a seven-day period in September 2021, Jason Thornburg murdered David Lueras, 42, Maricruz Mathis, 33, and Lauren Phillips, 34, later claiming that the trio needed to be sacrificed for religious purposes.
During the lengthy trial, details emerged about what transpired at the Mid City Inn in Euless. The three victims were separately brought into the room Thornburg was renting and subsequently killed.
The killer slit the throats of two of the victims and strangled Phillips before sexually assaulting her dead body. He also consumed part of David's heart and severed his penis, reports the Mirror US.
Once the victims were deceased, Thornburg dismembered their bodies in the motel bathtub and stored their remains in rubbish bags under the bed.
In the early hours of September 22, the murderer then transported their body parts, which he had stored in plastic storage tubs, to a dumpster on Bonnie Drive in Fort Worth.
He placed the remains inside the dumpster, ignited them and drove off. Firefighters were summoned to the blaze and put out the fire where they discovered the victims' burnt bodies.
Law enforcement nabbed Thornburg for placing the bodies in the dumpster and igniting it, thanks to CCTV footage showing his Jeep Grand Cherokee nearby at the crucial time. He chillingly returned the containers used to the shop they were purchased from after meticulously cleaning them out.
The jury, swayed by the damning evidence presented during the trial, including the gruesome details of the motel incident, concluded that Thornburg posed an ongoing threat to society and handed him the death penalty. The decision was reached swiftly by the jury in just five hours, with Thornburg remaining silent as the verdict was delivered.
Following the verdict, the presiding judge declared: "Therefore, Jason Allen Thornburg, you have been adjudged by a jury to be guilty of capital murder. And the juror has answered the special issues making it mandatory that your punishment be death. Therefore, this court sentences you, Jason Allen Thornburgh, to death."
Thornburg's conviction and death sentence are automatically reviewed by the Court of Criminal Appeals. If confirmed, he will stay under state custody until his execution is enacted.
Death row inmates often wait years before their execution date is set.
In a startling twist, upon his arrest for the motel slayings, Thornburg shockingly admitted to police his involvement in two additional murders.
Thornburg is alleged to have confessed to law enforcement that he murdered his 61 year old flatmate, Mark Jewell, who died in a suspicious house explosion in May 2021, and his ex-girlfriend Tanya Begay in Arizona back in 2017.
Firefighters discovered Jewell's body following a gas explosion at the Fort Worth residence. Begay vanished in March 2017 after last being seen with Thornburg.
According to Fox 4 reports, the FBI still considers the case open as her body has never been found.

High-flying trader dies in court after taking poison with chilling last message

Michael Marin, an Arizona-based trader, appeared to lead a life of unabashed luxury, lavishing his wealth on Picasso sketches, a Rolls Royce, and even piloting his own aircraft. However, the Wall Street trader's spending habits extended beyond material possessions. He also used his fortune to conquer some of the world's highest peaks, including Mount Everest. Yet, when he was apprehended and found guilty of insurance fraud, Marin took drastic measures in the courtroom, live on camera - ingesting poison and dying as he received a 21-year prison sentence. His chilling final moments were captured by the cameras documenting the trial. It comes as we told the tragic story of the student and politician's son who was killed when he was hit by a helicopter as he walked down the street in a freak accident. Marin's seemingly idyllic world came tumbling down when he was convicted of arson for setting fire to a building he had purchased for $3.5 million in 2011. To the casual observer, the 53-year-old's life seemed flawless, but behind closed doors, Marin was grappling with severe financial difficulties following the purchase of the $3.5 million property. In desperation, he thought committing arson would alleviate his problems, hoping to cash in on the insurance payout, reports the Mirror US. Authorities determined that the fire had been ignited from four separate flames that Marin had set in different corners of the room. Immediately after his conviction on June 28, 2012, Marin appeared to stifle a yawn with his hand moving towards his face. In reality, he was administering a fatal dose of poison. Within minutes, the lethal substance claimed his life. Chaos erupted in the courtroom as Marin convulsed and bystanders rushed to assist, trying to understand the unfolding crisis. Marin never woke up again and was declared deceased at the hospital. An autopsy later confirmed his death as self-inflicted. Investigators discovered the toxic agent in his vehicle. "We assume that Marin made capsules out of this toxic substance before coming to court," stated an official. The spokesperson also mentioned Marin's recent purchase of the chemical. Further evidence pointing to suicide emerged when a spokesperson disclosed that Michael's son had received a posthumous email from his father. The message indicated that should court proceedings go awry, Marin's wills were arranged, and his car could be located in Mesa. Deformed inbred children of chilling incest cult unable to speak or see

The revelation of a grotesque incest cult hidden within the confines of a family home sent shockwaves through those who uncovered the grim reality. A nightmarish incestuous ring, initiated by two great-great grandparents in an isolated farming valley, was exposed, having eluded the public eye for years. Their progeny were found in a state of severe disability, unable to communicate or see, as a result of relentless inbreeding. Social services were appalled when they stumbled upon 38 individuals living in filth, all blood relatives. The children, subjected to extreme abuse, were so disabled that they couldn't even speak. After being placed in foster care, their adoptive families observed disturbingly sexualised behaviour. In a chilling twist, one of the parents later shared a post on Facebook with the sickening caption "Love Makes a Family", as reported by the New Zealand Herald, reports the Mirror US. The nightmare for the Colts, a pseudonym assigned by the court, began with June and Tim's marriage in New Zealand in 1966 before they moved to Australia. They had seven children, with Martha being the youngest. Every member of thr group of 38 was related by blood (Image: Each of the 38 children in the group endured prolonged sexual abuse at the hands of siblings, cousins, fathers, an uncle, and a grandfather, spanning four generations. The Colt family first attracted official scrutiny in June 2010. Over the following two years, authorities filed seven "risk of significant harm reports" primarily concerning neglect, medical neglect, and truancy issues. In 2010, social services finally gained access to the makeshift camp where the family resided. The place lacked basic amenities like running water and toilets. The children were unable to comb their hair, didn't know how to use toilet paper, couldn't brush their teeth, and ate with their hands. The caravan's cooking facilities were covered in grime, vegetables were left to rot in the fridge, and the bed sheets seemed to be stained with dirt. A kangaroo was found sleeping on one of the children's beds. Many of the children displayed visible deformities, with misaligned eyes, low-set ears, and appearing decades older than their actual age. Only Rhonda's five year old daughter was discovered not to have been fathered by a blood relative. All other children were products of incest. The children were moved to foster care (Image: BBC Scotland/IWC Media) Despite genetic testing proving otherwise, Betty, Martha, and Raylene all deny that their children are products of incest. Three of the girls, aged seven, eight, and nine, claimed their uncle, Charlie Colt, who lived on the property when the children were taken away, was also their father. The nine year old also alleged that Charlie Colt had sexual relations with her. It's thought the family patriarch, Timothy Colt, who passed away in 2009, fathered children with one of his daughters and one of his granddaughters. Five of the boys who were removed also confessed to torturing animals on the farm, including puppies and cats. They also admitted to mutilating the genitals of animals. Initially, the family heeded a request from social services in June 2012 to better their living conditions, but by July, police had to remove 12 children, all cousins aged between five and 15 years, after it was determined they were at risk of harm if they stayed at the property. The children who were taken away will stay in care until they turn 18. This case came into the public eye when the children's court of New South Wales decided to make its judgment in the case public. In 2021, during the trials of other members of the Colt family, evidence suggested that Martha's father, Tim Colt, might also be the father of his daughter Betty's 13 children. Tim moved to Australia in 1966 (Image: Martha, who was known to share a "marital bed" with her brother Charlie, had five children with him. The trial for Martha heard that her children were likely fathered by Charlie, her own father Tim, and another brother. Three family members, Roderick, Martha, and Derek Colt, lodged intentions to appeal in 2020, but these have since lapsed. Out of the 80 original charges against eight Colts – which included incest, child sexual abuse, indecency against a child, and perjury – many were dropped. Charlie Colt, initially facing 27 charges, was cleared of two charges and acquitted, with the remaining charges withdrawn. However, his brother Roderick was convicted of raping his niece and half-sister Petra. During his trial, it was revealed Petra was actually his half-sister, as she was the offspring of Roderick's sister Betty and their father Tim. Despite all eight family members being locked up following their 2018 arrest, only four have since been handed prison sentences. Martha, along with her elder sisters Betty and Rhonda, and Betty's daughter Raylene, faced charges for fibbing about the paternity of their children. In a 2018 Facebook post, Betty Colt shared a snap of herself with two female kin, emblazoned with the words "Love Makes a Family". Rhonda was slapped with a 14-month intensive corrections order (ICO) for perjury, which came to an end in 2021. Raylene also received a 16-month ICO for perjury, which likewise concluded in 2021. Betty was found guilty on four counts of perjury, one count of lying under oath, and one count of perverting the course of justice, resulting in a 14-month stint behind bars. Her maximum sentence of two years and four months is set to expire in August. Martha, the youngest of the sisters, admitted to five counts of perjury and one count of making a false statement under oath.

CCTV finally installed to catch dumpers in Dublin's worst litter black spot

CCTV cameras, due to be erected last January to catch illegal dumpers in Dublin's north inner city, have finally been installed. Dublin City Council last September announced plans to use CCTV to identify illegal dumpers for the first time in almost a decade. The north inner city is regularly ranked the dirtiest area in the State. Three streets in the area were chosen as pilot locations for the scheme: Belvedere Place, Sherrard Street Lower and Summer Street North. Photograph: Olivia Kelly These streets, off the North Circular Road close to Mountjoy Square, are in Dublin's worst litter black spot, regularly cited as the State's dirtiest urban area by anti-litter organisation Irish Business Against Litter (Ibal). READ MORE The council had planned to install the CCTV last January, but the project was delayed after it emerged the cameras could not be attached to existing public lighting poles, as had been planned by the waste management division. Some cabling powering street lights also powered traffic lights, and the council's lighting section was concerned that vandalism to the cameras could 'knock out the traffic lights', Barry Woods, the council's head of waste management, told councillors earlier this year. New poles have instead been erected on the three streets and have been equipped with solar-powered cameras. The cameras have been switched on in recent days and are now 'fully operational', the council said. Signs warning that the cameras are in use for the 'prevention, deterring, detection and prosecution' of illegal dumping have been attached to each pole. Illegal dumpers face fines of €150 or up to €4,000 if convicted in the District Court. A new CCTV camera has been installed on Belvedere Place to catch illegal dumpers. Photograph: Olivia Kelly On Wednesday morning, the three streets appeared to be free of any obvious illegally-dumped bags or other significant signs of fly-tipping, although some litter had accumulated on Sherrard Street Lower in a gap between newly installed planters and the footpath. The council used CCTV a decade ago to combat illegal dumping, with significant success achieved in reducing litter levels. In 2014, it began installing CCTV at litter black spots, mostly in the north inner city, as part of a crackdown on dumping. It subsequently erected a poster featuring 12 dumpers with their faces blurred. However, the move aroused the attention of the Data Protection Commission , which questioned the proportionality of the scheme and the dumpers' rights to privacy. The commission in 2018 undertook an investigation of CCTV use by local authorities nationally and concluded that existing litter pollution and waste management law did not provide for using CCTV to identify dumpers. New legislation, the Circular Economy and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2022, amended the Litter Pollution Acts to allow CCTV use. The council spent two years working with various State agencies to develop a new scheme. Data-protection impact assessments were subsequently approved for the three pilot streets. Following the north inner-city pilot, the council plans to extend CCTV to bottle and textile banks, where there is a high level of illegal dumping, before considering some suburban areas for the scheme.
