Coronation Street star confirms 'messy and heated' future for Danielle

After a painful restorative justice session off the back of lamping conversion therapy preacher, Noah Hedley (Richard Winsor), Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) finds himself becoming privy to some particularly juicy information regarding his boyfriend Theo's wife, Danielle, learning that she is now in a relationship with the wicked preacher…
When asked if her character's new relationship meant she'd put her marriage to Theo in the rear-view mirror, Natalie told us: 'Honestly, I don't think she's there.
'I've had this conversation with James, who plays Theo. It's such a rushed relationship, she had the fling with Jason then this is another big thing.'
'There's two things going on. One is trying to show Theo what he's missing with his family life, this is what he's throwing away.
'And there might be an element of her trying to fill the void, Danielle and Theo were married for 19 years, that's a huge amount of time. I've been with my husband 20 years and can't even imagine him not being around. It's a little bit of a rebound.'
'[Noah and Danielle] have known of each other and grown up together through the faith with Theo. She has a line about the history between Noah and Theo and says it was their business, she believes Noah was just trying to do right by him.
'They've all come through the church upbringing together. felt for her like a natural person to fill the void of Theo. But also its probably quite pointed, of all the people she could've dated its someone who made his life quite uncomfortable as he was part of Theo's conversion therapy.'
As Theo, Danielle and their kids come together at the Bistro, Todd is quick to spill the tea regarding what he's learned…leading to another violent altercation for the fractured family, with Theo accidentally striking his son, Miles (Lewis William Magee).
Does Natalie think that Danielle would've revealed the news off of her own back? She says: 'Yes from a perspective of co-parenting she was planning on telling him, and was probably waiting to manage her own feelings first – before Todd steals her thunder and throws her under the bus!'
On the Bistro confrontation, Natalie says: 'It all gets a little bit heated, Miles in particular is very upset with Todd, he goes for him and Theo tries to stop him. In the melee this incident happens where Miles ends up with a bloody nose. For Danielle, Todd is at the root of all of this – whether it was an accident or not, Todd has spoilt this and is the thorn in their side.'
Todd seeks advice from his ex Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), who calls round and sees bedding on the sofa and implores him to speak with Danielle, who's since banned Theo from seeing his kids…
On how that particular conversation goes? Natalie teases: 'Her kids are her life she'll do anything to protect them.
'When Todd reaches out, she does want to take that seriously, until Todd starts being Todd and tries to manipulate the situation and throws his little daggers in there! She's not having any of it and has to go back to the drawing board. Playing those scenes was brilliant.'
When Natalie was asked what's to come for Danielle, she said: 'As you can imagine it does get messier and more heated. We fall into two camps between Danielle and Theo, and the children will be caught in the middle of that. It is difficult, and representative of a lot of families going through messy divorces.
'That's been amazing to play and its not something I've done before, there's a lot of figuring out what's next and figuring out what's best for the children. How do we feel about Danielle so far?
'When it starts to become a legal thing, how nasty does that get? It's one thing trying to sort it out between yourselves, but when it gets to that next level things becomes more weaponised. There are some calculating things coming up, I'm not sure the audience will still be on Danielle's side after that!' More Trending
On her own journey to the heralded cobbles, Natalie describes her excitement and delight at joining the nations most famous street.
'…being in the Grimshaw's with Sue Cleaver and Ryan Thomas, oh my god I'm in Coronation Street with Eileen telling Jason off! I almost forgot I was in the scene I was just watching their spat! I was meant to have left and just stood there in the doorway watching it. Amazing.
My first scene in Roy's Rolls with David Neilson was incredible. Getting to shout my head off in the Rovers at Tina O'Brien was another highlight, that was proper!'

Jason Momoa: 'I can finally show who I really am after 26 years'

The 45-year-old made his debut in Baywatch: Hawaii in 1999, and has gone on to steal the show in Dune, Fast X, Game of Thrones, Aquaman and so many more, but in Chief of War, he will be delving into the history of his native culture. In the nine-part historical drama, which is set in Hawaii the 1700s and premieres on Apple TV+ today, he takes on the role of warrior Ka'iana, who tries to unify the warring islands ahead of the threat of colonization. Luciane Buchanan, Temuera Morrison, Te Ao o Hinepehinga, Cliff Curtis and Kaina Makua are also among the cast. Speaking to Metro ahead of the release, Jason – who underwent a major transformation – shared his excitement at finally being able to show a part of history that is rarely seen in Hollywood, while also getting the chance to reveal the real Jason Momoa. When asked if he felt 'pressure' to do the project justice, he insisted: 'No, it's my heart and soul. This has been in me my whole life. I'm ready. Put it on me. I feel like I've been mismanaged and people don't really know who I am, since the beginning, so now I finally get a chance to [show] 'No, I can direct and write'. 'Finally being able to do comedy this year, doing Minecraft. Even when we did Fast [X], that was my first chance at going, 'Nah, I'm going to do it my way, and you guys hopefully like it, and that's the way it is.' They really put that trust in. 'It's finally nice to be in a place where people trust you and you can do what you're capable of.' Chief of War will take viewers further than the surface of Hawaii that has been represented in media before, with a predominantly Polynesian cast, backdrop, props, language and so much more. Through the program, Jason was able to explore his roots and bring an awareness to his culture in an authentic way – the first two episodes were entirely in local language Ōlelo Hawai'I. Unpacking the process behind that 'necessary' decision, he applauded TV bosses for trusting those behind the scenes as much as they did. 'Well, I just think it's necessary. You couldn't not do it, it's a bold thing to do,' he continued. 'I think Apple had a lot of trust in us, because there's nothing to prove it against. No one's ever heard the language. There's a lot of actors that have never been seen before. It's a lot. 'I just want [viewers] to embrace it. Really, just seeing what happened in our islands. I think people come and they don't know what happened to our people. We want to be seen. 'There's a lot of change and a lot to bring back of a culture that was… Our language is banned from us and we're getting it back. A lot of our art… We're part of America and I don't think anyone really knows anything about us. '[We] really have to celebrate Apple for just taking on something that's this big, and putting the trust in me. Obviously I get to write it and direct it with my friend but it's a big undertaking.' The first two episodes of Chief of War are released today, with further instalments dropping on Fridays. Jason created and wrote the show with Thomas Pa'a Sibbett, who he previously joined forces with on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and Braven. It took a decade for the project to come to fruition, as he conceded that he had to get his career in the right place – they eventually pitched it when he did Dune, and then spent a year writing the nine episodes in the first series. There is no denying that, as beautiful as the series is, it is also breathtakingly brutal with stunning battle scenes emphasizing the struggle for the islanders to keep hold of their culture. Jason is no stranger to stunts but shared that he was able to add an extra layer of emotion into the scenes, which led to one particular gut-punch moment for viewers. 'I love that stuff, that's just in my DNA,' he said with a laugh. 'I write all those scenes. I love it. 'Something that came out of it, which is really beautiful and I don't really think I've talked about, in the final episode where I look back to Kamehameha (Kaina) and I was just like, 'What's the worst thing I could do to Keōua?' 'When I when I talked to him in English, it was just something that came to me after playing the character, because I'm like, 'That would just p**s me off. You come to my backyard, you're going to speak this other language.' I just wanted to tempt them to charge so that he can – without giving away spoilers – unleash hell on them. 'There's these little moments that you write and come up with when acting that I love. That's not something that was in the books or something that we learned, it was just something that I felt playing the character.' On the topic of those battles, there were a few moments that Jason found himself in hair-raising situations throughout the strenuous shoot – and admitted that he actually 'f**ked up the most' on set. 'Being in the water with the shark was pretty scary,' he recalled. 'There's no doubt about that, my butt is puckered on that one. The malo was extremely tight. More Trending 'The worry of fighting on lava, it was like eight days of fighting in lava at night. We didn't have too many accidents – I'm actually the one, I think, that f**ked up the most. 'I stepped into a crevice, and if I would have [gone] the wrong way, I would have probably broke my femur, it caught my leg, but I was running around the place trying to direct a couple units or more. Theo's behaviour leaves Todd confused in Corrie as he taken away by the police
Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce)'s relationship with Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) in Coronation Street hasn't been plain sailing by any means. It was quickly revealed that Theo was struggling with his sexuality. As their relationship has developed we've learned more about Theo's past and that he endured a very bigoted upbringing in which he was put through conversion therapy to try to 'cure' his gay feelings. This has left him with lasting trauma, and the reappearance of a man called Noah (Richard Winsor) – who was involved in the conversion therapy and still wants to 'save' Theo from himself – has made things so much worse. Noah is in a relationship with Theo's estranged wife, Danielle (Natalie Anderson), and this has further complicated an already difficult situation, with Theo's love for his children being used against him. What doesn't seem to be in doubt is his affection for Todd, with Theo recently suggesting they should try to find a place of their own to live together. But there have been hints that Theo's attitude to Todd can be quite controlling, as we saw when Todd was getting close to James Bailey (Jason Callender) and Theo warned him off. 'We're starting to spot some anger management issues on Theo's part, at the very least,' Gareth Pierce told Metro. 'There's some flashes of anger that have left Todd shocked but equally, because he's had that insight into the conversion therapy and where Theo is coming into this new life from, he's perhaps willing to guide him through it. 'Our audience are probably also spotting some of those flashes of jealousy and perhaps a kind of need to control that maybe Todd is not currently spotting or doesn't want to spot.' This behaviour is in the spotlight again in coming episodes. Todd is excited to hear that the corner shop flat is up for rent and suggests to Theo that they could consider it. But soon Theo is irritated when Todd decides to bring George (Tony Maudsley) to Dev (Jimmi Harkishin)'s stag do. As Todd starts enjoying himself at the party, Theo says he has a headache and insists they go home. Soon after this incident, Theo suggests a night out and is annoyed when Todd says he planned to spend the evening with Summer (Harriet Bibby). When she tells Theo he's very welcome to join them for pizza in front of the telly, he refuses and sulkily says he's going to the pub. There's a more disturbing incident to come. Theo is approached by police officer Jess (Donnaleigh Bailey), who says there's been a report of an incident at the precinct and he needs to come to the police station to answer questions.
