Will Waitrose stores be open this Easter weekend?
Waitrose Good Friday opening hours
If you're shopping on Good Friday (18 April), Waitrose stores will be open from 8am until 8pm. However, Little Waitrose stores may be open for longer, with some local stores opening at 7am and closing at 10pm.
Waitrose Saturday opening hours
Most Waitrose stores will stick to their usual Saturday opening hours, but some stores will have slightly different opening hours than others, so it's worth double-checking the times of your local store online beforehand.
Waitrose Easter Sunday opening hours
While Waitrose stores will be closed on Easter Sunday, some Little Waitrose Shops will be open. The supermarket recommends using the store locator on its website to check the opening times before you visit.
Waitrose Easter Monday opening hours
On Easter Monday, most Waitrose shops will open at 8am and close at 6pm. That said, some little Waitrose stores will be open from 7am until 10pm. As ever, we'd recommend checking before you visit.
Does Waitrose deliver on the Easter weekend?
Yes, if you want to have your Easter groceries delivered to your door (or you want to order them online and then pick them up in-store), then you can book now until 19 April.
Waitrose is offering some worthwhile deals on Easter groceries at the minute, from its apple and cinnamon hot cross bunettone (was £12, now £8, Waitrose.com) to a whole leg of lamb (was £40.70, now £27.13, Waitrose.com).
If you're on the hunt for Easter egg deals, its toffee ribbon Easter egg (was £8, now £6.40, Waitrose.com) sounds even more tempting while it's 25 per cent off – it's made with Fairtrade sourced cocoa mass milk chocolate which is hand-decorated with toffee chips. But there's also a dark chocolate and orange version available (was £8, now £6.40, Waitrose.com).
The Sam on toast chocolate (was £6, now £5, Waitrose.com) is sure to be a hit with little Easter egg hunters, while adults can crack into the supermarket's flat chocolate Easter eggs, which include this dark chocolate and nut florentine egg (was £12, now £10, Waitrose.com).
Waitrose is serving up a great deal on alcohol drinks, too, which will see you save 25 per cent on six bottles or more priced at at least £6. For instance, you can celebrate with some fizz and save on this bottle of Veuve Clicquot yellow label brut champagne (was £48.50, now £36.37, Waitrose.com). Or, if you prefer a glass of white wine, you'll be able to save on a crisp glass of Torres viña sol (Waitrose.com). Meanwhile, home mixologists can save £7 on Tanqueray gin (was £31, now £24, Waitrose.com).

John Lewis to make major change to loyalty scheme – and it'll cost you more

JOHN Lewis will make a major change to it's loyalty scheme and it will cost customers more. Partnership credit card holders will see their perks slashed when they shop with other retailers. 1 Customers with the card earn points on purchases which they can convert into gift vouchers to spend in John Lewis and its sister brand Waitrose. Each point coverts into 1p. Currently customers earn a point for every £4 they spend at other stores. However come August that is set to change, with the amount increasing to £10. It means customers will have to spend more money at other stores to receive vouchers or wait a longer time to see their rewards build up. The rewards for spending at John Lewis and Waitrose stores will remain unchanged at five points for every £4 spent. Customers also get a £5 voucher for every 500 points they earn. John Lewis Money spokesperson said: 'Our rewards are being updated to help maintain our market-leading reward for spending at John Lewis and Waitrose, where customers earn 1.25% back on every pound spent. "Spending on purchases made elsewhere will earn 0.1% from 1st August." It is not the first time the retailer has lowered rewards for spending elsewhere. The £3.50 M&S buy that'll make your whole house smell like a 'boujee candle' In 2020, the retailer reduced the amount customers of points customers earn from purchases made at other stores from one point for £2 spent to £4. But it is not all bad news for card holders, with the retailer announcing bigger rewards for loyal customers. For the next three years, shoppers will earn triple points when shopping in John Lewis stores and double points when shopping online. The spokesperson added: These changes enable us to invest in the rewards that are most valued by our customers - alongside a new bonus to help customers earn additional points throughout August.' PARTNERSHIP CREDIT CARD John Lewis's credit card lets customers earn points on money they spend in stores and other retailers. Customers can also get certain perks such as discounted cinema tickets. If you are interested in signing up you will need to undergo a credit check. But it is important to check the Annual Percentage Rate (APR) on any credit card before you sign up. This is amount of interest you will be charged, if you do not pay off your credit card in full every month. John Lewis charges customers 28.9% APR on its Partnership card. Credit card need-to-knows Not using a credit card effectively can wreak havoc on your finances and your credit score. If you don't keep up with repayments or default on your debt, you are likely to get a black mark on your credit record, which could affect your ability to get a credit card, loan or mortgage in the future. It's important not to let yourself get sucked into overspending. You should always clear the full balance as soon as possible. If you have a poor credit score, don't bank on being approved for a card or getting the 0% deal you'd hoped for. Card providers only have to give the advertised rate to 51% of applicants, so you could end up paying more interest than you bargained for. If you've got a poor credit record, you're less likely to get the best rates. And if you are looking for a new credit card, don't apply for lots at once. After your 0% period is up, lenders can charge upwards of 40% interest, so if you have not repaid the debt fully by then, try to move the debt onto another 0% deal.

Cheapest UK supermarket for May 2025 could save shoppers £48 on 82 essentials

The latest Which? comparison has found the cheapest supermarket for a basket of 81 essential items. Getting in the weekly groceries has become fairly expensive over the years. Which is exactly why many households often look for ways to save money. For this reason, Which? runs a monthly price comparison across eight of the biggest supermarkets across the UK, with the latest showing how shoppers can save over £48 in total. For the fifth month in a row, the consumer watchdog's analysis has found that Aldi is once again the most affordable supermarket, charging just £135.48 for a basket of 82 branded and non-branded essentials. It means that the budget German discounter has taken the crown for every single month this year, following on from its major win in 2024 where it was found to be the cheapest supermarket for the whole year. By direct comparison, premium chain Waitrose was once again found to be the most expensive option, with the same basket of items coming in at £184.03 - meaning Aldi shoppers are saving 36 percent and £48.55. However, it is worth noting that, while Aldi held onto its coveted title as the cheapest supermarket, its fellow budget German rival Lidl was hot on its heels, with just 31p more for Plus members (£135.79) and 34p more for regular shoppers (£135.82.) Out of the traditional supermarkets, the May 2025 Which? comparison found that Asda was offering the most affordable prices, coming fourth place with its own basket of 82 items costing £149.94. To emphasise Aldi's savings, it was discovered that loyalty schemes from many major supermarkets were still more expensive, as Tesco Clubcard users were being charged £150.26, while regular customers were being charged £152.35. Meanwhile, Sainsbury's was charging £151.82 for the same 81 items for Nectar members and £155.59 for those not signed up to its loyalty scheme. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Out of the traditional supermarkets, Morrisons was still more expensive, even with a More Card. Those signed up to its loyalty scheme were charged £155.76, while those without would be charged £156.71. It is worth mentioning that the Which? analysis also covers a much larger shopping list of 198 items, although Aldi and Lidl are not included because they do not offer the same availability of branded items. Similar to previous months, Asda once again held onto its crown as the most affordable option for the bigger shop, charging shoppers £485.79. Meanwhile, Waitrose was also the most expensive for this shop, with its total coming in at £559.02. Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: 'Which? analysis demonstrates Aldi's determination to provide its customers with quality, affordable groceries as an essential need for the long term. 'We are proud to retain this position of cheapest supermarket for an incredible nineteenth month, allowing our shoppers to save their money for other life essentials.' Sainsbury's shoppers heartbroken as store axes ‘best' coffee

SHOPPERS have been left disappointed after Sainsbury's axed a popular coffee. One frustrated customer got in touch with the supermarket after struggling to find the Taste the Difference Fairtrade Indian Monsoon Malabar Ground Coffee on shelves. "Have Sainsbury's stopped selling the Monsoon Malabar coffee?? Tried to find it in various stores but it is not available anywhere," they said. To their disappointment, Sainsbury's confirmed the coffee variety had in fact been discontinued. The Sun also searched for the coffee on but it's been listed as "currently out of stock in every store". The coffee had come in a 227g pack and was described as having dark chocolate, smoke and spice flavours. A description on the website says the product was ethically sourced and laid on the Malabar coast in southwestern India during the monsoon season. Shoppers on Trolley gave it glowing reviews. One raved: "This is the best coffee that I've had in recent years and decent price." Goa and for me it is perfectly good." The Sun has reached out to Sainsbury's for comment. Coffee fans can still get their fix of Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Fairtrade coffee though, as there are plenty more varieties still in stores.
