Scamacca wants to return to Roma

Yahoo19 hours ago

Roma is looking for a new centre-forward and one of the top names on the club's shortlist is that of Gianluca Scamacca.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Roman striker has openly expressed his desire to return to the capital, due to the problems he experienced last season with Atalanta, struggling with injuries to his cruciate ligament and thigh.

The new Roma boss, Gian Piero Gasperini, who has already trained him, would be in favour of reuniting with him, and the two apparently spoke about it during a private event.
In any case, the operation is not simple. Atalanta is asking for at least 25 million euros to let the player leave, a significant sum for the Giallorossi.
Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi is evaluating whether to make the move or turn to alternatives.
Scamacca would represent the ideal profile for Roma: young, physical and with a strong bond with the city. The operation is complex, but the player's desire could push towards a concrete negotiation in the coming weeks.

Bills' Joe Brady Details The Why In 'Everybody Eats' Mantra

Bills' Joe Brady Details The Why In 'Everybody Eats' Mantra originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Buffalo Bills' offense last season was a well-oiled machine that averaged a tick over 30 points per game and made Josh Allen an MVP winner. Advertisement A big reason for that was a mantra that offensive coordinator Joe Brady instilled early on in the offseason called "everybody" eats. With no genuine No. 1 receiver after Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis were moved on, it was a chance for others on the roster to step up, and Allen, under the direction of Brady, didn't force the ball to one player. Instead, whoever was open got the ball. Now, as the Bills enter the second season with Brady calling plays, the coordinator has detailed the why in his mantra. "It's about defining what everyone eats means, and to me, it had nothing to do with production," Brady said. "It's all about a selfless mindset, an approach, it's all about, hey I'm going to take care of my job, and if I do my job everything else will come to me. Advertisement "So that's all that it ever really is about, and so when guys have success, we want to celebrate each other's success, that's what it's about, not caring about your own [success] and caring about finding ways to win football games." Bills quarterback Josh Allen, offensive coordinator Joe Brady© Mark Konezny-Imagn Images The selfless attitude got the Bills to within three points of a Super Bowl appearance, and the hope is that in 2025, the franchise can take that next step and win its first-ever Lombardi trophy. With all the pieces in place, the Bills are seen as one of the genuine contenders, and Allen, along with Brady, will be tasked with bringing everything together, with the selfless mindset again being key. Advertisement It worked last season, so players should again buy into it, and if things go the way many hope, Buffalo might be crowned NFL champs come season's end. And the "everybody eats" mantra will be a big reason why. Related: Bills Second-Year Receiver Demanding Greatness Related: Do Bills Actually Need James Cook For Super Bowl Run? Insider Teases 'Disconnect' With Bills and Top Runner

Insider Teases 'Disconnect' With Bills and Top Runner originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Nothing has changed between the Buffalo Bills and starting running back James Cook. The league leader in rushing touchdowns last season wants a contract that pays him over $15 million a year. The Bills don't have that kind of money to give, but even if they did, they don't want to spend it on a player at a position of lesser value. Advertisement The "disconnect" that ESPN Insider Adam Schefter continues to report on, doesn't come as a surprise. This has gone on since the offseason began. 'You've got a guy who's unhappy with his contractual situation," Schefter said during his podcast. "(He) has basically disconnected himself from the organization and the city, put his house up for sale...I don't think we'll be seeing him in Buffalo anytime soon. Schefter later explained that while Cook isn't expected for mandatory minicamp next week, fans of the organization should turn their attention to what happens heading into training camp. "Does he risk the penalties that come along in the collective bargaining agreement if he doesn't show up?" Schefter questioned. Advertisement Buffalo does have a collection of running backs that they trust to carry the load if Cook refuses to show up to the start of training camp. That is still a few months away, though. The Bills front office has all the time in the world to try and come to a conclusion on their star runner - whether it be by trading him to another team, or giving him the contract he wants. The longer this holdout goes on, though, the more obvious it is that the two sides' disconnect is even greater than is actually being reported. Bills' Star Makes Surprising Statement at Minicamp

Bills' Star Makes Surprising Statement at Minicamp originally appeared on Athlon Sports. James Cook's contract dispute isn't over. But his offseason holdout is done. On the first day of the Buffalo Bills' mandatory minicamp, their star running back brought smiles to the entire organization by showing up. Cook did not attend the team's voluntary portion of the offseason program. But the fact that he's in attendance for minicamp could be a positive sign of negotiations, even if he doesn't do much on the field. Advertisement "I really appreciate him being here," Bills' head coach Sean McDermott said. "I credit James. Business is business at the end of the day. I know he loves being around this team and the guys in the locker room, and he loves to play football. So, respect his decision to be here and be amongst the team and get some work in today, and we're looking forward to that." The Bills' three-day camp is the team's last grouping until training camp at the end of July. Cook, a second-round pick in 2022, is entering the final year of his rookie contract. He has rushed for 1,000 yards in each of the last two seasons and led the league with 16 rushing touchdowns last season. He'd like a new contract before the season, but apparently isn't willing to make it a distraction to his team/ McDermott also shared that seven players did not participate in practice Tuesday: WR KJ Hamler, CB Taron Johnson, DB Cam Lewis, C Connor McGovern, DE Joey Bosa, LB Baylon Spector, S Cole Bishop and S Damar Hamlin. Advertisement Buffalo signed veteran linebacker Shaq Thompson to a one-year contract Tuesday.
