The Denver Broncos were one of the best surprises in the NFL during the 2024 season. Led by rookie quarterback Bo Nix, the team made a run to the playoffs.
While the Broncos were eliminated by the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round by a final score of 31-7, the season was a major success. That run helped lead to higher expectations for the upcoming 2025 season.
Looking ahead to the upcoming campaign, there are many reasons to be excited about Denver. Could the team consider making an aggressive move to increase their chances of contention even more?

Fox Sports has suggested Denver as a potential trade destination for Washington Commanders star wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
"McLaurin would be a welcome addition to Denver's receiving room and help alleviate the reliance that the franchise has put on its young receivers to all pan out. A scenario exists where Nix could have a sluggish Year 2 after putting a lot of impressive plays on film in Year 1 (e.g., Dak Prescott in 2017 and C.J. Stroud in 2024)," they wrote.
"If that indeed takes place, having an improved pass-catching core around Nix can help offset that potential downtick in production. With McLaurin, one knows exactly what they're getting: a steady and durable downfield weapon who can shoulder the bulk of secondaries' attention."
McLaurin is coming off of a 2024 season with the Commanders that saw him catch 82 passes for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns.
What would this kind of move mean for Nix and the Broncos? Quite simply, the offense would have a chance to be elite.
Currently, Denver has Courtland Sutton penciled in as its No. 1 wide receiver option. A duo of McLaurin and Sutton would be very difficult for opposing defenses to slow down. Behind those two players, the Broncos would have Marvin Mims Jr., Troy Franklin, and Devaughn Vele.

Giving a young quarterback as much support as a team can is always wise business. Nix showed signs of superstar potential as a rookie. Adding McLaurin to the mix would help him put up even bigger production in year two.
As a rookie, Nix completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He also ran for 430 yards and four more touchdowns.
This is just an idea at this point, but McLaurin would be a perfect target to help take Nix to the next level.

Russell Westbrook, Celtics Report Surfaces After Major Career Decision
Russell Westbrook, Celtics Report Surfaces After Major Career Decision originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Even though he's approaching his late-30s, Russell Westbrook is coming off a pretty impressive postseason. The Denver Nuggets pushed Westbrook's former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, to the brink of elimination, and he had something to do with how they got that far. Advertisement Westbrook opted out of his deal with the Nuggets to enter free agency (via Marc Stein), and his playoff performance will likely play a role in him having a strong market in free agency. His suitors will likely be playoff contenders who could use what he provides, even if he's not the player he once was in OKC. Denver Nuggets guard Russell Westbrook (4).Troy Taormina-Imagn Images The Boston Celtics could be one of Westbrook's suitors. They will enter the 2025-26 season without Jayson Tatum, but still have a playoff core. Westbrook could help them hold the fort until Tatum returns, whether he returns next season or not. Mile High Sports' Ryan Blackburn listed Boston as one of Westbrook's suitors this offseason, though they weren't the only team. Advertisement "Teams like the Dallas Mavericks and Milwaukee Bucks (Kyrie Irving and Damian Lillard out for season due to injuries) would be high up the list of possible landing spots, as well as the Sacramento Kings, Miami Heat, and even Boston Celtics in need of a short term fix," Blackburn wrote. Westbrook could also be an emergency starter, as the Celtics want to get under the NBA's second tax apron and may have to trade Jrue Holiday to do that. Westbrook isn't the same player as Holiday, but he could replace some of what Holiday does in his own unique way. Broncos roster: Wil Lutz (No. 3) enters Year 3 after record-tying 2024 campaign
Broncos Wire's 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at tenth-year kicker Wil Lutz, No. 3. Before the Broncos: Lutz (5-11, 184 pounds) entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia State with the Baltimore Ravens in 2016. After failing to make Baltimore's 53-man roster, Lutz was claimed off waivers by the New Orleans Saints, who were coached by Sean Payton at the time. Lutz went on to spend seven years in New Orleans (missing one season due to injury), converting 165 field goals with a long of 60 yards. His 781 points with the Saints rank second in franchise history, only trailing Pro Football Hall of Famer Morten Andersen (1,318 points). Advertisement Broncos tenure: After becoming the coach in Denver in 2023, Payton traded a seventh-round draft pick to New Orleans in exchange for Lutz (the Saints moved forward with Blake Grupe). Lutz went 30-of-34 on field goal attempts in his first season with the Broncos and 31-of-34 last fall, tying Jason Elam's franchise record for the most field goals in a single season. Through two years (34 games) in Denver, Lutz is 89.7% on field goal attempts with a long of 55 yards. Chances to make the 53-man roster: Lock. The Broncos do not have any competition for Lutz on the roster, a sign that the 30-year-old kicker is locked in to retain the job in 2025. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.
