Armagh keeper Ethan Rafferty defeats brother Colm in first leg of Ulster senior bowling final
Fresh from defying Derry with four vital saves in the All-Ireland football championship, he hopped on the Knappagh road to defeat his brother and All-Ireland champion, Colm, in the first leg of the Ulster senior bowling final.
A massive third throw to Knappagh angles gave him the edge and he led in seven to the planting corner. He upped the ante from there to Farley's where he was a bowl ahead. He was two clear at the plum trees.
He was soon almost three in front and had it wrapped up before the Condy corner. That win gives him a head-start in the best-of-three final.
The line-up for the Munster senior championship semi-finals will be resolved next weekend.
On Friday David Murphy plays James O'Donovan at Newcestown; Michael Bohane and Arthur McDonagh meet at Baile Bhuirne on Sunday and cousins Gary Daly and Patrick Flood are scheduled to play at Grenagh on Sunday. The winners join Aidan Murphy in the semi-finals.

Juliet Murphy secured her place in the Munster intermediate final by virtue of a last show win over Ellen Sexton at Clondrohid. The lead changing hands several times to Tierbg cross.
They matched each other in the shots to light past the black house and onto the rough surface past the Bell Inn.
Murphy broke the deadlock with a massive bowl towards Goff's lane, which gave her a bowl of odds. What looked an unassailable lead was almost wiped out when she missed the line with her second last. Sexton was not able to do enough in her last throw to turn the tide.
Anthony Crowley produced a brilliant last shot to deny Dermot McCarthy in the Cork city junior B final at Whitechurch. Crowley led by five metres after two each to Kelly's.
McCarthy had his first fore bowl after three more to the wall. Crowley got a poor next bowl and McCarthy extended his lead to Boula lane. He held the lead in the next three to Downey's.
McCarthy then hit a purple patch with three huge bowls to the farm, which put him a bowl of odds clear. Crowley fought back with a big bowl towards the devil's bend, which significantly clipped McCarthy's lead.
He followed with two big shots to Hegarty's to regain the lead by ten metres for the last shot. McCarthy producing a super last shot past the line. Crowley showed maturity and equanimity by responding with a better one to take the title.
Brendan O'Neill raised a bowl on John Butler after four shots in the Mid-Cork junior B final at Castletownkenneigh. He held that past Pyne's corner. Butler wiped out most of the lead with a huge bowl to light at the netting. It went to dramatic last shot when O'Neill's last bowl stopped on the line. Butler closed with a great shot, which O'Neill beat by just five metres, thanks to a rub.
Michael Desmond and Cillian Kelleher will meet in the Gaeltacht junior B final. Desmond led Darren Oliver from the off at Clondrohid. He had almost a bowl at the Bell Inn and almost two at the novice line.
Kelleher beat Liam Murphy by almost a bowl at Macroom. Murphy won all the early shots, holding off strong play from Kelleher to Mulcahy's. Kelleher led from there, going a bowl up at Kelleher's lane.
Murphy had the lead under a bowl after two huge shots to the layby and after two more past the novice line the lead was back to 30m. Murphy erred with his next one and Kelleher took a decisive lead by opening the last bend.
Last year's All-Ireland junior A champion, Michael Murphy, is making a smooth transition to intermediate. He came out well on top over Wayne Callanan in their championship tie at Firmount.
He was just fore after three each to the start of the straight. Callanan then hit a bad patch which left him a bowl behind. Murphy powered on to consolidate his bowl of odds at the end of the straight. He was two bowls clear entering the final quarter and he put it to bed with two brilliant throws past the grotto.
Alex O'Donovan is the South-West champion, he beat Ger Connolly by a bowl in the final at Shannonvale.
In the Munster junior A championship, former champion, Andrew O'Callaghan beat Timmy Murphy in the last shot at Kilcorney in Zone B. Form player, David Hegarty, had the same margin over Noel O'Regan at the Marsh Road in Zone C.

Ellen Dolan inspires Peamount to comeback win at Dalymount Park
Bohemians' incredible nine-game unbeaten run came to an abrupt halt against an impressive Peamount side who had the immense Ellen Dolan to thank for a come-from-behind win. The All-Island Cup finalists had gotten in front thanks to a well-taken finish from teen sensation Aoibhe Brennan, but the Peas had a teenage star of their own to thank for their first win since May 17. The visitors, narrowly beaten at home to Athlone Town in a bruising battle in the FAI Cup despite being the better team for large spells, but started brightly despite being shorn the services of the suspended Mary Philips. Jess Fitzgerald smashed a 25-yard effort that sailed just over the bar signalling their intent with a couple of minutes played. The hosts began to play their way into the breathless encounter as Hannah Healy became more influential, starting one excellent move down the right that saw Sarah McKevitt whip in a dangerous low cross that was cleared at the pivotal moment by Peas skipper Karen Duggan. A fascinating midfield battle was developing between fellow Irish Under-19 Internationals Brennan and Fitzgerald who wrestled for control in the engine room. There was huge controversy midway through the first half when Dolan bust into the box following some pinball in the area and looked to be caught either side by Lisa Murphy and Katie Lovely, but referee Mark Moynihan waved away the protests. The visitors began to edge the war of attrition and finished the half the stronger. Both Sadhbh Doyle and Dearbhaile Beirne had strikes from distance that narrowly missed the target before a royal rumble-style scramble in the area led to claims from the Peas that the ball crossed the line. Despite being second best for large parts, it was the hosts who broke the deadlock a minute before the break with a clinically incisive move. Brennan was quick to intercept Beirne's pass into the middle, before playing a perfectly weighted one-two with McKevitt on the right. The silky midfielder continued her run into the box, showing great strength to hold off the pressure from Doyle, and finished expertly into the near post with her left foot. The hosts came flying out for the second half, going close to doubling their lead just after the restart with two chances in quick succession. Firstly, Lovely forced Amanda Budden into a brave stop from point blank range before showing cat-like reflexes to deny Alannah McEvoy at the near post. Having been denied a penalty in the first half the Peas were given a chance to equalise fro the spot moments later when Fiona Donnelly was adjudged to handle the ball from a blocked cross that spun up awkwardly. Player of the match Dolan took responsibility but saw her penalty saved low to her left by Rachael Kelly. The 19-year old showed huge character to shake off the miss and not only equalise but put her side ahead with two excellent goals in five minutes. Firstly, the 2024 Young Player of the Year rose highest in the area to glance home Fitzgerald's deep free-kick from the right before picking up the ball deep and rampaging towards the edge of the area and unleashing an unstoppable right-footed effort that flew into the net to flip the game on its head. The hosts looked to the bench for some fresh legs to bring a fresh impact into the attack. Savannah Kane showed tremendous pace to go down the right before being halted by Duggan who stood up big. From the resulting corner a whole host of red and black shirts had attempted to bundle the ball over the line but the green wall stood big. The home side, roared on by an impressive 468 supporters on a chilly Tuesday, tried desperately to build a head of steam but the experience of Peamount told as they took the sting out of any attack. Slaughtneil boss Mark Doran installed as new Antrim manager
Antrim have appointed Slaughtneil manager Mark Doran as their new inter-county football manager, replacing the departed Andy McEntee. The county confirmed the news in a statement this evening, Antrim GAA chairperson Seamus McMullan saying that Doran's "depth of experience and understanding of the modern game make him an ideal fit to lead our senior footballers forward". The former Down footballer remains the Slaughtneil manager for the 2025 club season. He had initially resigned after last year's Derry SFC loss to then All-Ireland champions Glen but was reappointed to the role in March. Doran had been strongly linked with the Derry job last year, following Mickey Harte's resignation but ultimately wound up taking a coaching role alongside Davy Burke in Roscommon. He previously held coaching roles with Down between 2019 and 2021, and had spells on the coaching ticket with Clare and Wicklow. In addition to that, he was co-manager of the Ballybay side that claimed the 2022 Monaghan SFC title. McEntee vacated the Antrim post after three seasons in charge, following their Tailteann Cup quarter-final loss to Wexford. The ex-Meath manager had succeeded in keeping Antrim in the third tier of the league in his opening two seasons, as well as reaching successive Tailteann Cup semi-finals, but the county will begin 2026 in Division 4 following relegation at the start of this year.
