Motihari: In a step towards people friendly policing, SP East Champaran Swarn Prabhat on Tuesday suspended two traffic personnel for rudely talking with commuters.
Traffic inspector Shakeel Ahmad and constable Rambabu Singh, both posted at the Traffic police station in Motihari, were suspended after they were found talking rudely to a vehicle owner during a routine check.
The SP took the matter seriously, underlining that while enforcing the law is a duty, decency and dignity in communication are non-negotiable.
"Legal action can be strict," SP Prabhat said, "But behaviour must always remain respectful. The officers must address citizens with courtesy and never use derogatory terms like 'tum-tam'. The use of 'aap' will now be mandatory while speaking with the public."
All SHOs have been instructed to ensure that their subordinates follow this protocol.
Police personnel are to treat every citizen visiting the station with dignity and fairness, said the SP.

Technician repairing AC dies in compressor blast
Gurgaon: A 31-year-old technician succumbed to injuries which he suffered while repairing an air conditioner at an industrial air conditioning plant in Kherki Daula area on Tuesday evening. The co-workers of Ghanshyam rushed him to Medanta Hospital, where he died. The incident took place at 4.30pm when Ghanshyam, who hailed from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh, was working on a malfunctioning AC unit at Carrier when it suddenly exploded, causing fatal injuries to his neck and face and damaging his windpipe, a police officer said. The company officials couldn't be contacted for their comments. A case under Section 106 (negligence resulting in death) of BNS has been registered based on the complaint of the deceased's elder brother Radheshyam. "The cause of the blast is due to leakage in the AC's compressor. The forensics team inspected the site and collected relevant evidence," SHO Surender said. Ghanshyam, who had been employed at the plant for the past three years, was leaning close to the unit to inspect a suspected fault when the blast occurred, creating chaos at the plant, his co-workers said. "We were all shocked to hear the loud thud and see Ghanshyam falling on the ground," a co-worker said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Radheshyam, with whom Ghanshyam lived at a rented accommodation in Kherki Daula, said that he received a phone call at around 5pm informing him about the incident. In Gurgaon, task force set up to probe illegalbusinesses on road to Galleria Market
Gurgaon: After the National Green Tribunal's (NGT) intervention in a case concerning illegal commercial activities along the road leading to Galleria Market in Sector 27, deputy commissioner Ajay Kumar announced plans to constitute an inter-departmental team to probe the matter. The team will include officials from MCG, HSPCB, Haryana State Pollution Control Board, Town Planning, and DHBVN, and will inspect the site and submit a detailed report. The action follows a petition by residents, highlighting severe environmental violations such as illegal commercial operations, including illegal use of diesel generator sets, open waste burning and untreated sewage discharge, allegedly causing severe air and noise pollution in the area. Deputy commissioner Ajay Kumar said, "We have taken note of the concerns raised regarding the illegal commercial activities in Sector 27. An inter-departmental team will be formed shortly to examine the entire situation on the ground. Based on their findings, appropriate action will be taken." The petition highlighted that multiple shops, eateries, and workshops have been operating without licences or environmental clearances near Hamilton Court and Galleria Market. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! Despite disconnection, the establishments reportedly continued operations using DG sets in violation of environmental norms. The petitioner also alleged that despite submitting several complaints to the authorities between August 2024 and March 2025, no concrete action was taken. Meanwhile, residents have welcomed the DC's decision. "We've been suffering due to unchecked pollution, traffic congestion, and foul smells from untreated waste for months. This is the first time the administration is taking the issue seriously," said Pooja Singh, a resident of Sector 27. Environmental activists have also urged the administration to ensure that the committee's findings lead to on-ground enforcement. "Reports are not enough. What we need is action—sealing of illegal units and penalties against violators," said Vikram Singh, a city-based environmentalist. The inter-departmental committee is expected to start its inspection soon and submit a detailed report before the next NGT hearing scheduled for July 4, 2025.

Eid invite turns into horror: 3 minors raped by 2 men in Calangute hotel
Panaji: An invitation to celebrate Eid on Saturday turned into a nightmare for three minor girls aged between 11 and 15 — including two sisters — who were raped at a Calangute hotel by two friends. Goa Police arrested both accused, aged 19 and 21. The hotel owner — Rajat Chauhan, a native of Haryana — was also arrested later in the day for allegedly allowing the minor girls to stay without verification and consent from their parents, thereby facilitating the crime. A few months ago, the 19-year-old accused befriended the 15-year-old girl on social media and began chatting with her. Last week, he invited her to celebrate Eid. The 15-year-old girl — whom cops described as the 19-year-old accused's 'girlfriend' — left home with her 13-year-old sister and an 11-year-old friend on Saturday to meet the prime accused. The prime accused (19) and his friend (21) booked a room at a Calangute hotel, where the duo checked in with the three minors to stay overnight and celebrate the 15-year-old girl's birthday by cutting a cake. Thereafter, the prime accused allegedly raped his 'girlfriend' while his friend raped the other two minors, repeatedly. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? IC Markets Mendaftar Undo North Goa SP Rahul Gupta said cops received a complaint from the 15-year-old girl's family alleging that the minor sisters had left their residence on Saturday and did not return. Meanwhile, the 11-year-old girl's kin filed another complaint, alleging that their minor daughter was missing, and they suspected that she may have gone out with the daughters of the first complainant. 'After meticulous efforts and after developing the information through reliable human sources and technical sources, all three minor survivors were rescued from a hotel in Calangute. Two men present with them were apprehended and brought to the police station. During the inquiry at the hotel, it was revealed that the accused checked into two different hotel rooms,' said SP Gupta. Goa police filed two separate FIRs in the case. 'During the investigation, both accused were arrested,' SP Gupta said. Calangute Police booked hotel owner Chauhan and hotel manager/receptionist Mansoor Shafi Peer, a native of J&K, for allegedly abetting the crime. 'We are sealing the hotel and moving for the cancellation of its licence,' SP Gupta said, adding that hotel management and owners will not be spared if they give a room to a child in the absence of any family or relatives accompanying him/her. 'This is in violation of Goa Children's Act. If any such violation is noticed in the future too, strict action will be taken,' he said.
