LASTING LOVE We've been together for 25 years & they said it would never last – we embrace our issues, says Catherine Zeta-Jones
AS she plans a huge celebration to mark her 25th wedding anniversary with Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones is also laughing at the cynics who said their marriage was doomed.
The acting couple seemed an unlikely match at the start.

Welsh beauty Catherine was 28 and about to secure A-list status starring in 1998 movie The Mask Of Zorro with Antonio Banderas, after finding fame in the UK with wholesome ITV show The Darling Buds Of May.
Meanwhile, Basic Instinct star and ladies' man Michael, then 53, had separated from first wife Diandra Luker, who he eventually divorced in 2000, and had done a stint in rehab for booze and drug issues in 1992.
But Catherine, now 55, recalled: 'We've been married 25 years, it's something to celebrate. And they said it would never last!
'It's a journey of learning and loving and fun, and the prospect of reaching a 25-year anniversary is really quite thrilling. I remember my mum and dad celebrating theirs.'

The anniversary of their lavish wedding ceremony at the five-star Plaza Hotel in New York is in November, but Catherine will be too busy to celebrate on the actual date.
She is now starring as Morticia Addams in the second series of Wednesday, which was released on Netflix this week, and will be filming season three on their big day.
But Michael, now 80, doesn't mind waiting a few weeks for a party.
Catherine said: 'I've been working a lot this year and he's been so supportive. I think we're going to be doing a party around the holidays because I'll be shooting season three. It's such a short period of time I have off.

'Difficult times'
'September 25 is both our birthdays. So from September 25 through to Christmas is a pretty busy time.'
During the past quarter century, cynics have at times believed their predictions the couple wouldn't last.

The stars themselves have been candid about the struggles they faced.
In 2010, Michael announced he was undergoing intensive radiotherapy and chemotherapy to treat stage 4 throat cancer, which he said was caused by the HPV virus.

The year after, Catherine revealed she had been diagnosed with bipolar II, struggling with the stress of her husband's illness.
Then, in 2013, they announced that they had separated, but reconciled months later, with Michael saying: 'I think every couple has their difficult times. We're back, stronger than ever.'
Surviving the tough spells has made them even more determined to celebrate with their children Dylan, 25, and Carys, 22, together with Michael's son Cameron, 46, from his first marriage.
The Hollywood pair have amazing careers behind them, with Michael having been in Romancing The Stone and Wall Street, and Catherine in Chicago and Entrapment.

But Catherine, now 55, recalled: 'We've been married 25 years, it's something to celebrate. And they said it would never last!

But she says their greatest achievement is simply being parents.
They raised Dylan and Carys out of the spotlight in Bermuda, where Michael's mother, Diana, was born. In 2009, they returned to New York.
Showing off her moves
Catherine said: 'Our children are truly wonderful. It's that fine balance of not putting them in a gilded cage of protection, of allowing them to make mistakes, of guiding them.'
Wednesday, which launched in 2022, also stars Jenna Ortega in the title role and Luis Guzman as Morticia's husband Gomez.

It became a huge hit for the streamer and won four Primetime Emmy Awards.
Catherine admits that she relates to the Addams family, saying: 'It's a family who have issues, and we all relate to that. But we embrace our issues.

'We don't shun or hide them or try to put them in a box.'
Morticia and Wednesday have a strained relationship in the show, but Catherine says that she and real-life daughter Carys share a close bond.
The actress reveals Morticia's parenting style involves 'nurturing and then having discipline'. Carys has experienced a small dose of her parenting style.
Catherine said: 'I did give her side-eye the other day. I rolled my eyes, and she went, 'Don't Morticia me, Mom'. I thought it was a wonderful new line that kids can say to their mothers, 'Don't Morticia me'.'

In addition to her happy off-screen marriage, Catherine said she is lucky to have a great on-screen hubby in Luis.
She added of the Puerto Rican actor: 'We don't rehearse our chemistry, it just seems to really show up. We did this movie called Traffic 25 years ago and had a great friendship.

'We enjoy each other's company and respect each other as artists.'
Catherine, who won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as Velma Kelly in 2002 film Chicago, as well as a Tony award for A Little Night Music on Broadway in 2009, said the new series sees her showing off her moves again.
'Secret weapon'
She said: 'I'm a dancer and Luis moves very well. He worked so hard to get those moves.'
Catherine revealed that one scene with Jenna in Wednesday sees her dust off another old skill — the sword-fighting she mastered for The Mask Of Zorro.

She revealed: 'Jenna and I had so much fun. I did sword-fighting in Zorro, so, excuse the pun, it was my secret weapon.'
The new Wednesday features a host of stars, including Brits Billie Piper, Joanna Lumley and Thandiwe Newton, plus US actors Steve Buscemi and Haley Joel Osment.

Even Lady Gaga is making an appearance. She was invited on to the series after clips of Wednesday dancing went viral when fans set them to Gaga's track Bloody Mary.
The megastar singer flew to Ireland to film scenes and Catherine says she was a joy to work with.

She explained: 'To have a woman of that calibre within our environment, it's so incredibly amazing.
'When I met her, she was humble, gracious, creative, collaborative and a woman who is just, you know, it exudes from her — greatness. She doesn't know it.
'She's a wonderful artist. And I get to say now, 'I met Lady Gaga'.'

Real-life soap couples Soaps are renowned for their sweet and scandalous romances – but it's not just in scripted storylines where love is blossoming. A number of our favourite small-screen actors have fallen for co-stars and soapland rivals when the cameras have stopped rolling. Max Parker and Kris Mochrie Despite playing brothers Luke and Lee Posner on Emmerdale, the pair never actually shared any scenes together. But the pair still fell in love after meeting on set. Laura Norton and Mark Jordan Kerry Wyatt and Daz Eden actors Laura and Mark met on the set of Emmerdale in 2014. The couple, who got engaged in 2018, told Loose Women they spent a long time deciding whether they should "just stay as friends." Although it seems they were meant to be and the pair now share two children together. Zoe Henry and Jeff Hordley Emmerdale favourites Zoe and Jeff, who play Rhonda Goskirk and Cain Dingle met at drama college in 1994 and have been together ever since. While working together might be too much for some couples, that's definitely not the case for Zoe and Jeff. Zoe previously told The Sun: "Working on the same show as Jeff also helps because if one of us is having a bad day then the other will completely understand." Lesley Dunlop and Chris Chittell Lesley and Chris are another Dales romantic success story. Unlike some of the other soap stars, the pair who play Brenda Walker and Eric Pollard, are together on and off screen, officially tying the knot in 2016. They also adore working together, but have clear home-work boundaries. "We make a point of not talking about Emmerdale when we're at home, though – that would be just too sad, wouldn't it?" Chris revealed. Sally Carman and Joe Duttine Abi Franklin and Tim Metcalfe actors Sally and Joe got together after meeting on the set of Coronation Street in 2017 and they tied the knot in July 2022. But unlike some of the Emmerdale stars, Sally and Joe prefer that their characters don't interact much. Sally previously admitted it "would be horrendous" to work on a storyline with Joe because "he's too funny." Anthony Cotton and Peter Eccleston Sean Tully may have been unlucky in love on the cobbles, but in real life Antony's met his Prince Charming. The soap star started dating long-term partner Peter in 2005, after they met when he was working as an assistant props buyer on Corrie. Mr Benn narrator and actor Ray Brooks dies aged 86
English actor Ray Brooks has died at the age of 86 after a short illness. Brooks was best known for narrating the 1970s children's TV show Mr Benn and for his role in EastEnders playing Joe Macer, who killed his wife Pauline Fowler. The actor died peacefully on Saturday with his loved ones at his bedside, according to a statement shared by his family with the BBC. The statement also revealed that Brooks had spent the last few years living with dementia. Brooks' sons, Will and Tom, said: "His three true loves were family (he also had a daughter Emma, who died in 2003), Fulham Football Club, and spending time in Brighton, where he was born." The cartoon Mr Benn, narrated by Brooks, follows the character who enters a magical costume shop and travels to new places based on the costumes he wears. Despite the cartoon only releasing 13 episodes, it became well known for generations of children as episodes were repeated twice a year for more than 21 years. Brooks went on to appear in a host of different primetime television shows including ITV's Coronation Street, in which he played Norman Philips. He also starred in the BBC comedy drama Big Deal, which followed gambler Robbie Box as he tried to make a living by betting while also trying to maintain his relationship with Jan, played by Sharon Duce. Brooks earned himself a number of film credits, including a role in The Knack… And How To Get It, which won the 1965 Palme D'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. A year later he starred in Ken Loach's Cathy Come Home, which documented the impact of Britain's housing shortage in the late 1960s.

Today, the results of Katie's latest trip to the operating table was revealed, with the star sporting a very tight face pinned back by surgical bandages and stitching tape. Walking through the hotel restaurant, Katie wore comfy tracksuit bottoms and a tank top as she kept her head straight, struggling to turn her neck as she moved. Her new pics seems to confirm she has had further work on her face as well as her nose and eyes. A clear nose plug was seen visible on her septum, while flesh-coloured bandages were seen pulling back the sides of her eyes. Her trip comes as she has hit a turbulent patch in her relationship with daughter Princess, whose TV documentary series The Princess Diaries launched on ITVX today. Advertisement As exclusively revealed by The Sun, the mum and daughter duo, who are often hailed "twins" due to their lookalike appearance, have run into trouble when Katie was banned from seeing her daughter walk a runway in Ibiza – despite being on the island at the same time. In scenes that aired on the show, Princess was seen hitting the catwalk for Ibiza Fashion Festival and admitting her nerves, fearing she didn't fit in. Katie Price broke down in tears after being banned from seeing daughter Princess on Ibiza holiday Ahead of the show's debut, Katie shared her frustrations at 'not being allowed to go near' the documentary, with Princess moving into her dad, Peter Andre's house, while she shot it. ITV2 bosses reportedly told how Katie could not be a part of the series, with a source telling The Sun that Katie felt "isolated and disregarded". The Sun reported telly bosses deliberately cut the former glamour model out of The Princess Diaries because it is 'not good for Princess to be seen with Katie'. In a bid to market the youngster as a pretty, middle-class influencer, they even turned down Katie's team's offer to film for free for three days. Katie later vented her frustrations on her podcast, The Katie Price Show, to sister Sophie, explaining that although she supports Princess no matter what, the situation has left her "insulted" and struggling mentally. Advertisement Addressing The Sun's article, Katie said: 'They've told the truth in it. If you actually read it, there's not a fib. I'm not allowed and I'm not welcome. 'But what hurts my feelings, and it does upset me, is when your kids grow up, you go to their assemblies, you go to their Christmas things, you go to their awards, you go to their football matches or gymnastics, you're involved in everything they do. "And knowing that what my career has been, Princess is taking that same path, trying to do the same as what I've done, which I absolutely love and adore of Princess. "But I have not been allowed to go on any photo shoot, no signings or Superdrug openings or anything like that, and it puts Princess in a situation because I don't want her to feel she has to choose between me and her work because I want her to do well.' Advertisement 'I have said to Princess, just see how it feels for me because I should be there supporting you," she added. "I want to be there to support you like my family did.
