On Tuesday, the Cairo Opera House hosted a stunning performance of Zorba the Greek by legendary Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis in celebration of Greek National Day and the declaration of 2025 as a year to honor Theodorakis.
Described as "a Greek Night on Cairo's lands," the event drew large crowds of both Egyptians and Greeks, coming together to celebrate the shared values of friendship, culture, and a deep passion for music and the arts.
The performance, delivered with professionalism, talent, passion, and harmony, featured the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) and the Acappella Choir of the Cairo Opera House. Their rendition of Theodorakis' masterpiece beautifully embraced the Greek work and its profound emotional language.
The event was organized by the Embassy of Greece in Cairo, in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, the Cairo Opera House, and the Acappella Choir, which impressed with their interpretation of the iconic Greek composition.
The audience's enthusiastic response was incredible, with loud applause after each movement.
However, it was Zorba's iconic dance music that truly sent the crowd into the loudest and most fervent applause of the evening.
Conductor Michalis Economou was equally engaged with the audience, expressing his joy and excitement about performing at the Cairo Opera House.

EU, Arab League Reaffirm Commitment to Two-State Solution at Peace Conference

Ahmed Emam The European Union (EU) and the Arab League (LAS) voiced strong support for the two-state solution during an international peace conference dedicated to resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Speaking on behalf of the EU, a representative emphasized the bloc's "full commitment to peace and the two-state solution," asserting that the European Union is "the largest provider of aid and support to the Palestinian Authority." The EU also called for equal security guarantees for both Palestinians and Israelis, urging global actors to join a coalition committed to advancing the two-state solution. "We expect Israel to implement the agreements it has signed, but this is not happening at the moment," the EU representative stated. Meanwhile, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit issued a strong rebuke of ongoing Israeli actions in Gaza, saying, "Palestinians have been subjected to genocide for months." He stressed that a new, peaceful Middle East must begin with a just and viable two-state solution. "The road to stability and security in the region goes through the establishment of a Palestinian state," Aboul Gheit declared. Egypt, Pakistan Boost Ties at UN Gaza Summit

Israa Farhan Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Badr Abdelaty, met today with Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, on the sidelines of the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Resolution of the Palestinian Issue and Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The two officials discussed ongoing coordination between Egypt and Pakistan, highlighting their aligned positions on major international issues of shared concern. Abdelaty stressed Egypt's commitment to further enhancing bilateral consultations through existing mechanisms, particularly the Joint Ministerial Committee co-chaired by both foreign ministers, and continuing cooperation within multilateral frameworks. Abdelaty also expressed Egypt's hopes that Pakistan, during its current presidency of the UN Security Council, would advocate for pressing regional priorities. Chief among these is the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with an emphasis on ensuring the safe, sustained, and unhindered delivery of aid to the Palestinian people. On the economic front, both sides explored opportunities to expand bilateral trade and investment. Abdelaty invited Pakistan to increase its investments in Egypt, particularly within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, and proposed the revival of the Egypt-Pakistan Business Council. He also encouraged Pakistan's private sector to seize promising opportunities in the Egyptian market. The meeting also addressed the enhancement of cooperation in healthcare and pharmaceutical manufacturing, especially in the fight against Hepatitis C, where Egypt has had notable success. In their exchange on regional issues, the ministers reviewed the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza. Abdelaty outlined Egypt's continued mediation efforts, coordinated with Qatar and the United States, to achieve a ceasefire and facilitate humanitarian access. He also announced Egypt's intention to host an International Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction in Gaza once a ceasefire is reached. This conference, to be held in coordination with the United Nations and the Palestinian Authority, aims to mobilize support for the joint Arab-Islamic plan to rebuild the war-torn enclave. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence"
