Congratulations Pouring In For Patrick Mahomes On Monday
Congratulations are pouring in for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes on Monday.
The 2024 NFL season was a tough one for Mahomes. He lost the NFL's MVP award to another quarterback, Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills. He lost the Super Bowl, 40-22, to Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles. And heading into the 2025 season, some believe that he's no longer the best quarterback in the league.

But on Monday, ESPN released its list of the 10 best quarterbacks in the league, heading into the 2025 regular season.
Where does Patrick Mahomes come in?
NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA - FEBRUARY 09: Patrick Mahomes #15 of the Kansas City Chiefs looks on during warmups prior to Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles at Caesars Superdome on February 09, 2025 in New Orleans, Louisiana. (Photo by)Mahomes has been ranked the No. 1 quarterback in the league, once again, by ESPN heading into the 2025 season.
"Mahomes' grip on the top spot is loosening slightly. After dominating the voting with back-to-back No. 1 rankings in convincing fashion, Mahomes garnered around 60% of the first-place votes this year, which is still impressive but well short of last year, when he received all but one first-place vote," ESPN wrote.
"He has finished eighth in QBR the past two years; from 2018 through 2022, he finished first or second four times. Rarely does Mahomes look as frazzled as he did vs. Philadelphia in Super Bowl LIV."

It's another major honor for Mahomes.
"The national narrative about Mahomes has really shifted to where they are pretending the other top QBs are in his stratosphere 🤦🏽♂️. Whatever drives clicks and views, I guess," one fan wrote.
"Mahomes gets the most calls, which is an advantage, still the gold standard for throwing off-platform," one fan added.
"There's a clear and obvious Big Four in the NFL right now and I think you can defend putting the three outside of Mahomes (Allen, Jackson, Burrow) in any order. Dropping any of them outside 4—someone had Lamar at 6!—is silly, though," ESPN's Mina Kimes added.
Where would you rank Mahomes heading into the 2025 NFL regular season?

How to watch the WNBA Skills Challenge and 3-Point Contest, Friday's All-Star festivities
'All the stars approach you,' as SZA once belted out. To paraphrase, a Dream might let us know … but so might a Spark, or a Mystic, or even a Fever. The 2025 WNBA All-Star proceedings begin Friday night. The league's top playmakers will dribble and pass through an ornate obstacle course in the Skills Challenge, and then the best long-range shooters will let it rip in the 3-Point Contest. Even though Caitlin Clark (groin) is unable to give it a go in Friday's shootout and Saturday's All-Star Game, there's still a lot to look forward to. Here's what you need to know about the forthcoming broadcasts, this year's participants and all the past winners. How to watch WNBA All-Star Friday Venue: Gainbridge Fieldhouse — Indianapolis Time: 8 p.m. ET TV: ESPN Streaming: Fubo (try for free) Watching in person? Get tickets on StubHub. This broadcast will also be available on ESPN+. First up is the Skills Challenge. Dribblers will be asked to throw bounce, chest and outlet passes, then shoot from the elbow, corner and top of the arc. This year's field is entirely comprised of WNBA veterans. Allisha Gray (Atlanta Dream) is the youngest contestant at age 30; she's up to the highest scoring average of her nine-year run, and won the 2024 edition over finalist Sophie Cunningham. Elsewhere, Natasha Cloud (New York Liberty), Erica Wheeler (Seattle Storm) and Courtney Williams (Minnesota Lynx) have all played a full decade in the W, and each guard is enjoying a late-career renaissance with competitive teams. The headliner is Skylar Diggins, the six-time All-WNBA force who leads Seattle in points and assists. All of these Skills Challenge newcomers will be eager to dethrone Gray. Up next is the 3-Point Contest, a timed and frantic perimeter shoot-around with five racks. Each made trey is worth one point, with a bonus-point 'money ball' at the end of the first four racks. The fifth shooting spot from the far corner is exclusively money balls, and predictably, that's where the competition takes its dramatic swing. There are also two 'Starry balls' from way outside, each worth three points. The two top finishers advance to a second round for a title tilt. Clark, Indiana's hometown superstar, has endured an injury-ridden second season with the Fever. Sadly, lingering injuries will keep her out of the 3-point showdown. Fans can still marvel at defending champ Gray — the only player competing in both events and the only player in league history to sweep them the same year — plus decorated stars Sabrina Ionescu (Liberty) and Kelsey Plum (Los Angeles Sparks). The field is rounded out by stellar rookie Sonia Citron (Washington Mystics), who is making 36.5 percent of her 3-point attempts on high volume. The 21-year-old Notre Dame product could be a fixture in this format for the next decade or so. Ionescu won in 2023. Plum (second), Gray (fourth) and Ionescu (fifth) all rank in the top five in made 3s this season. 2025 Skills Challenge participants Natasha Cloud, LibertySkylar Diggins, StormAllisha Gray, DreamErica Wheeler, StormCourtney Williams, Lynx Skills Challenge winners 2003 — Dawn Staley2005 — Sue Bird2006 — Seimone Augustus2007 — Becky Hammon2009 — Cappie Pondexter2010 — Renee Montgomery2019 — Diamond DeShields2022 — Sabrina Ionescu2023 — Kelsey Plum and Chelsea Gray2024 — Allisha Gray 2025 3-Point Contest participants Sonia Citron, MysticsAllisha Gray, DreamSabrina Ionescu, LibertyKelsey Plum, SparksCaitlin Clark's replacement TBD 3-Point Contest winners Ticketing and streaming links in this article are provided by partners of The Athletic. Steelers, All-Pro T.J. Watt agree to 3-year, $123M contract extension, making him the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history
T.J. Watt has agreed to a three-year, $123 million extension with the Pittsburgh Steelers, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thursday. He will reportedly receive $108 million fully guaranteed at signing. The contract was agreed upon just days before Steelers players report to training camp on July 23. Watt skipped voluntary and mandatory minicamps this spring as the two sides worked on the new deal. Watt appears to have confirmed the deal, sharing the following on Instagram as the news broke: His brother, former NFL defensive superstar JJ Watt, endorsed the deal: Watt, 30, has played his entire eight-season NFL career with the Steelers, who selected him in the first round with the No. 30 pick in the 2017 draft. Watt has paid off handsomely on Pittsburgh's investment. Watt recorded seven sacks as a rookie and has made the Pro Bowl in each of his seven seasons since. He's a five-time All-Pro with four selections to the first team. He was the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year in 2021 and has finished in the top four of voting for the award five times. Watt has led the league in sacks three times, including his career high tally of 22.5 in 2021, which is tied with Michael Strahan for the most sacks in a single season in NFL history. His career sack tally stands at 108 for an average of 13.5 per season. Watt also has 225 career quarterback hits, 7 interceptions, 49 passes defended, 12 fumble recoveries and 33 forced fumbles. He's led the league in forced fumbles twice. [Get more Steelers news: Pittsburgh team feed] Can Watt continue to deliver at All-Pro level? Entering his age-31 season, Watt remains one of the most disruptive forces in football. In 2024, he posted 11.5 sacks, 27 quarterback hits and led the NFL with six forced fumbles. Watt is also one of the most durable defenders in football. He suffered a pectoral tear in Week 1 of the 2022 season on the heels of his Defensive Player of the Year campaign. He still played 10 games that season and earned Pro Bowl honors. In each of Watt's other seven seasons, he has played in 15 games or more. Watt signs his extension while entering the fifth year of his previous five-year, $112 million extension to his rookie deal, setting the bar quite high for several defenders waiting on contracts of their own, including Dallas Cowboys' Micah Parsons and Cincinnati Bengals' Trey Hendrickson. This marks just one of many moves the Steelers' front office, led by general manager Omar Khan, has made this offseason, including the signing of veteran QB Aaron Rodgers, trading away WR George Pickens and S Minkah Fitzpatrick and acquiring WR DK Metcalf and CB Jalen Ramsey via trade.
