BBC News05-02-2025

Get ready Marvel fans, because "it's clobberin' time"!The first trailer for a brand new Marvel superhero movie called Fantastic Four: First Steps has just dropped. The movie stars actors Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as The Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing.Set in the 1960's the heroes must defend Earth from a hungry space god named Galactus played by Ralph Ineson, and The Silver Surfer, played by Julia Garner. The movie hits cinemas worldwide on 25 July 2025, but until then, we've been taking a look at what was revealed in the trailer.
Who are the Fantastic Four?
The Fantastic Four are a team of scientist superheroes who are made up of Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), Susan Storm (The Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (The Human Torch), and Ben Grimm (The Thing). The four are a family as well as a crime-frighting team; Reed and Susan are a married couple, Johnny is Susan's brother and Ben is Reed's best friend. The heroes gained their superpowers after blasting off into space on a rocket and getting hit by a powerful blast of radiation.Mister Fantastic can stretch his body really far, The Invisible Woman can turn invisible, The Human Torch can cover his body in fire and blast off like a rocket, and The Thing is super-strong and made of rocks. The first Fantastic Four comic was published in November 1961, and to date is one of the most popular superhero teams series in Marvel's history. There have been a few attempts to turn the comics into movies, but this is the first time that Disney will be adapting the series.
Who's H.E.R.B.I.E?
If you were watching the trailer closely you will have seen there is another robotic companion living with the Fantastic Four - H.E.R.B.I.E.H.E.R.B.I.E. is a robot who first featured in a TV series based on the Fantastic Four comics which aired in 1978.The robot was brought in to replace The Human Torch, as the show couldn't use the character due to rights issues.H.E.R.B.I.E. was eventually added into the Fantastic Four comics in 1979.
Who are the villains?
For every superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), there's a villain lurking just around the corner, and the Fantastic Four are no exception. The team have faced many villains throughout their comic book series, and from the new movie trailer, we have a better idea of who they will be up against this time.A giant shadow cast by the space god Galactus can be seen. Galactus has a taste for devouring planets, and it seems like Earth may be on the menu this time judging from the trailer.Confirmed by Marvel, but not seen in the trailer is The Silver Surfer, who is Galactus' herald - a type of messenger - who scouts out planets for him.We also know that Robert Downey Jr - who plays Tony Stark (AKA Ironman) in the Marvel Avengers movies - is in the Fantastic Four movies as Doctor Doom.Doctor Doom is the Fantastic Four's most famous villain, but so far he hasn't been teased in the trailer.

Argent and Lydia's love story started off screen nearly two decades ago when they were teens and their drama-filled romance made legendary TV on the ITVBe show - gripping viewers with its constant twists and turns. They split in 2012, and Argent was accused of calling her a "sl*t" in text messages after learning she'd slept with someone else following their separation. Despite this, they have maintained a close friendship and Lydia views Argent as an uncle to her daughter, Loretta, five. She has stuck by her ex and close friend following his arrest and insists he's not a violent man. A friend who knows both Lydia and Arg very well tells The Sun: 'When it comes to what happened with Arg and Nicoline, Lydia would never condone violence and has made that very clear to James, but she doesn't think that he is a violent man and she knows he deeply regrets the events of that night. "She has stuck by him, even though she doesn't agree with his actions - just as his other mates like Mark Wright have." Lydia was also there for Argent when his weight ballooned to nearly 30 stone amid drug and food addiction. Nicoline Artursson's statement in full It's now been a month. I still can't believe it. My fractures on my body have finally healed but I'm wounded inside. I've been quiet long enough. Silence protects no one - and it almost destroyed me. What started as a love story sadly turned into something else. Behind the pictures, promises and the plans for a life together - the beautiful days - changed into something into sadness with emotional manipulation and eventually physical harm. I loved deeply, believed in our future and stood by someone I thought would protect me and instead I was left alone and harmed in ways I never imagined. I was not only failed by him but deeply affected by the presence of unresolved ties to his past. Yes I posted an Instagram story with a simple yes or no question about if your ex should be a part of your present relationship. I felt there were too many people in our relationship: me, my boyfriend and his ex. 'Three's a crowd', they say. I asked so many times if we could be just the two of us, but the answer was a strong NO. I experienced what I can only describe as targeted emotional distress which he allowed to continue. The ex and her family put us through so much misery and false accusations, I won't go into details. They had no reason whatsoever to do what they did to us, but for some reason they wouldn't let go and let us enjoy our love. Everybody knows that real friends support you and want to see you happy. So I posted a story on Instagram. After being together for one year my boyfriend finally promised me that he would have boundaries. He would put a stop to all that had been going on for months. But he didn't. Instead he broke the promise and her controlling behaviour continued. The rest is history. I was brutally thrown out of our new home in the middle of the night wearing only my pyjamas. I opened the door to let him in and only minutes after I found myself laying down on the stairs outside our house. My clothes and belongings were being thrown out from the balcony down on me. I was injured. Thanks to incredible neighbours who heard and saw what happened and acted, I got help. They called police, brought me to safety and ensured the incident was taken seriously. A gentleman does not abuse you and end up in jail and call you the love of his life. A gentleman does not blame you for his actions. A gentleman will confide in his partner, family and close circle of friends, keeping them close and safe. A gentleman chooses you always and leaves the past in the past - including exes. Life is to be lived together and not to please people who want to take advantage of you. At the end of the day, fame can only do so much - it's all about being strong and growing together. Life is simply not a reality TV show, life is real. I have tried to understand why. I have cried so many tears thinking about the way he chose to hurt me. He said he loved me and I believed him and here we are. There is now a legal record of what happened. Violence has no excuse - no matter how much love preceded it. To those who questioned me for staying as long as I did: I stayed because I believed in love. I believed he and we could grow, could heal, could choose peace. But love doesn't survive in chaos. And it cannot survive where violence lives. To every woman reading this: if you've ever questioned your worth, your safety or your sanity in a relationship - this is your sign. You deserved to be loved with care and integrity. And you are not alone. To the men: real strength is protection. Real love is safe. Be the kind of man who lifts women up - not one who breaks them down, neither by violence or silence. To the future: never say never. I will get the little family I've always dreamed of and have my dream wedding to symbolise and celebrate true love in front of my dear family and friends. I'm healing now. Slowly, bravely and unapologetically. I will rise and I will use my voice - not for vengeance but for truth. For every woman who's been silenced by someone who said 'I love you' and then proved otherwise. This is not just my story. It's a reminder: abuse - whether emotional, psychological or physical - has no place in love. 5 Nicoline finally spoke in depth about the domestic abuse she suffered at the hands of James Credit: Instagram

Around 60 minutes later, two cop cars turned up. He was driven away and spent two nights in a police cell before appearing in court on Friday accused of assaulting an ex-girlfriend. A source said: 'It was very dramatic. "Everyone was in their costumes and Danny was filming this polo scene when an hour later police suddenly turned up to arrest one of the extras. It was shocking.' Tipped off The assault is alleged to have happened at a house in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. Police were called to the address at 2am on May 31. Cops wanted to question Adams, also a supporting actor on BBC's Casualty and Doctor Who, in connection with the incident. It is understood Avon and Somerset Police were tipped off that the bricklayer turned TV extra was filming on the new series of the Jilly Cooper bonkbuster adaptation Rivals. Officers swooped after the polo match scene — with Dyer in his role as lovable Freddie Jones and also featuring The Musketeers star Luca Pasqualino — had been shot in the grounds of Berkeley Castle, Gloucs. A pal said: 'He'll be gutted because it could end his TV career, something he really loves doing. 'He's a bricklayer by trade but he's been doing more and more TV work, he's been in loads of stuff. 'Whenever he's in the background of a show he gets all his family and friends to watch it.' Adams was also an extra in House of the Dragon and The Forsyte Saga. And he appeared in the 2022 movie Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher, starring Ray Winstone — when he was photographed alongside the Emmy-winning actor. He'll be gutted because it could end his TV career, something he really loves doing. Adams' pal Adams appeared at Bristol magistrates' court on Friday charged with assault causing actual bodily harm. He made no plea and was given conditional bail until he returns to the city's crown court on July 7. Production company Happy Prince, which makes the drama Rivals, said: 'On the 4th June, the police visited the set regarding an unrelated matter involving a supporting artist. 'Production co-operated with the police. We do not have any further information as it is not connected to Rivals or to our production.' Avon and Somerset Police confirmed a man was arrested at Berkeley Castle on June 4. They said Adams, from Locking, Somerset, was charged with assault causing actual bodily harm.

New action horror movie has critics saying 'this is what streaming is for'

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Famously one of cinema's mightiest franchises has returned to Disney+ with an all-new film which already has critics and die-hard fans hooked. Predator: Killer of Killers is the latest entry in a long-running sci-fi/horror/action series which was first kicked off by a cigar-chomping Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1987. Since the release of John McTiernan's Predator, the beast has spawned four sequels and two spin-offs – plus countless tie-in video games, comic books (who can forget that time it beat up Batman!?) and novelisations. Ahead of director Dan Trachtenberg's upcoming live-action sequel, this animated spin-off follows three human warriors as they face off against the intergalactic hunter (a race also known as the Yautja). In three separate yet connected stories, a Viking Queen, Samurai warrior and World War II fighter pilot each encounter the Yautja, and soon find themselves fighting for survival against the galaxy's most lethal hunter. With the film now streaming in the UK and worldwide, it has already cultivated a near-perfect 97% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. In the hours following the film's release, critics shared their early thoughts on what they had just witnessed. 'Predator: Killer of Killers provides the non-stop action that the diehard fans crave. And no concession has been made to the animated format; the film easily earns its R rating,' wrote The Hollywood Reporter. 'I'd go so far as to say that this is what streaming should be for: Immaculately crafted bonus treats that stand on their own two feet,' agreedIndieWire. Meanwhile, The Wrap described it as 'all action, no filler.' Reacting to the film's release on X, viewers were just as enthusiastic, with panthersgod all-capping: 'PREDATOR: KILLER OF KILLERS was ABSOLUTE CINEMA.' 'Killer of Killers just straight up might be the best predator movie ever in existence,' commented PixelMert. 'Gotta say, Dan Trachtenberg is absolutely KILLING IT in the Predator department! His latest films—Prey and Killer of Killers—perfectly captures the essence what made the Predator series so memorable! And I'm digging his take on each different Yautja!' said NikaiCanon. Meanwhile, IamMichaelJLee described it as 'an ambitious, world-building brawl that spans multiple time periods before culminating on the Predator's homeworld. Each setting adds a layer of depth and nuance to our history while reimagining humanity's most brutal eras through the lens of the hunt.' Killer of Killers is the second Predator film from director Dan Trachtenberg, who previously helmed its critically acclaimed prequel in 2022. Set in the world of the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey followed female warrior Naru (Amber Midthunder) as she faced off against a bloodthirsty Predator. Metro UK's Louise Griffin described the film as a success for its young star, who 'lives up to the protagonist of the original film.' No mean feat, given that the protagonist was none other than Arnie himself. Between the original Predator and 2022's Prey, the series also includes 1990's Danny Glover 'em up Predator 2, the 2010 action film Predators, plus soft reboot (and hard pass!) The Predator, as directed by Shane Black in 2018. More Trending The creature also appeared in two Alien vs Predator movies in 2004 and 2007, neither of which managed to capture either Alien or Predator at their best. Thankfully, Trachtenberg's not done with the franchise yet. Live-action sequel Predator: Badlands is also due out later this year and will find the Predator on the back foot for once. Set on a remote planet, the film will follow a young Yautja outcast as he teams up with unlikely ally Thia (Elle Fanning) when they embark on a hunt for the ultimate adversary.
