Congress Betraying BCs, Shielding Corruption: BJP's Ramchandra Rao
Jangaon: BJP Telangana State President N. Ramchandra Rao launched a sharp attack on the Congress government during a BJP workers' gathering in Jangaon, accusing Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the Congress leadership of betraying Backward Classes (BCs), committing 420 frauds in the name of six guarantees), shielding corruption, and failing to deliver on promises made before the elections. Addressing party workers on Thursday, Rao demanded clarity from the Congress on whether it would implement the promised 42% reservation for BCs without dilution. 'Instead of giving a straight answer, they're deflecting with comparisons to Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. We are not against Muslims receiving educational and employment reservations, but political reservations for Muslims will harm BCs,' he said. Rao cited the GHMC elections, where 50 divisions were reserved for BCs, but 35 seats were won by MIM candidates. 'This is a grave injustice to BCs. Congress is now pushing for 10% political reservation for Muslims, which we strongly oppose,' he declared. He criticized the Congress for failing to act on its Kamareddy BC Declaration even after 19 months in power. 'If they were sincere, they would have issued a notification for local body elections immediately after passing the BC reservation bill,' Rao said, adding that the BJP had supported the bill in the Assembly. Taking aim at Revanth Reddy's complaints about not getting an appointment with Prime Minister Modi, Rao said, 'It's Rahul Gandhi who doesn't give him time. Modi ji gave time in the interest of Telangana's development.' Rao also ridiculed the Congress's recent dharna in Delhi, calling it a 'flop show.' 'Rahul Gandhi, the director of the drama, didn't attend. Sonia and Priyanka Gandhi were also absent. They abandoned Telangana during the cropping season to stage a political stunt,' he said. On corruption, Rao accused the Congress of protecting BRS leaders involved in the phone tapping and Kaleshwaram cases. 'Why haven't any politicians been arrested? If Congress is sincere, it should revoke the GO banning CBI entry and allow a full probe. The stolen money should be recovered and deposited in the treasury,' he demanded. Rao alleged that the Congress government is cheating all sections—students, unemployed youth, women, and farmers. 'They've committed 420 frauds in the name of six guarantees. The people will teach them a lesson,' he said. He announced that the BJP will contest nearly all seats in the upcoming local body elections and expressed confidence in a sweeping victory. 'We are the only party that has consistently backed BCs and given them significant representation,' he said. Rao credited the central government for rural development initiatives, including free rice, housing, toilets, gas connections, Rs 5 lakh medical coverage, and loans for women and youth. 'Roads, street lights, graveyards, and Haritha Haram plantations are all being implemented with central funds,' he added. He concluded by asserting that the BJP will emerge as the true alternative to the corrupt Congress and BRS regimes in the 2028 Assembly elections. 'The people of Telangana are ready to bless the BJP. We will not allow injustice to BCs or religious-based reservations to go unchallenged,' Rao affirmed.

ED's conviction rate in PMLA cases over 92% in last 5 years: Official data
The conviction rate secured by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in money laundering cases over the last five years has been more than 92 per cent, an official data said. According to the data accessed by PTI, various special Prevention of Money Laundering Act ( PMLA ) courts delivered judgments in 41 cases registered under the said law between January 2020 and July 2025, out of which conviction orders were passed in 38 instances leading to the conviction of 98 accused. Hence, the conviction rate secured by the ED in money laundering cases over the last five years comes to 92.68 per cent (38/41X100) in about five years, they said. The ED has been regularly targeted by political parties in the opposition, claiming its actions were biased and that its conviction rate was "poor". Live Events A report prepared by the agency for the 2024-25 financial year said while the legal framework under the PMLA provides for a "structured mechanism" for prosecution, the timely completion of trials continued to face several "systemic" and "procedural" hurdles. The report released in May said a "primary challenge" in this context was that prosecution of money laundering cases was "intrinsically" linked to the progress of the investigation or trial of the corresponding predicate or primary offence. "Delays in those proceedings invariably impact the PMLA trial," the report said. According to the PMLA scheme, which came into force in 2005, the ED cannot register an independent case but has to base its complaint on a primary FIR of the police or any other investigating agency, which is called the predicate offence . The data also said the ED registered just over 5,063 money laundering cases over the same period (January 2020-July 2025) and the courts ordered confiscation of assets worth Rs 55.14 crore in the context of conviction cases. The courts also ordered confiscation of assets to the tune of Rs 15,558.21 crore under section 8(7) of PMLA (cases where trial cannot be conducted) during the same period.

Karnataka driver dies by suicide, blames BJP MP Sudhakar in death note
A cab driver working on contract with the Chikkaballapur zilla panchayat office allegedly died by suicide, blaming BJP MP K Sudhakar and two others in a four-page death note. The deceased has been identified as N Babu, 31, a resident of Chikkaballapur. His body was found at the zilla panchayat office on Thursday morning. Besides BJP MP Sudhakar, the police said, Babu has blamed zilla panchayat second division assistant Manjunath and one Nagesh in the suicide note, which was found in the deceased's car. A police officer said, as per the note, Nagesh had collected Rs 40 lakh from Babu by promising him a government job with the help of Sudhakar in 2021, when the BJP leader was the health and medical education minister of Karnataka. Babu had taken a loan of Rs 25 lakh to pay Nagesh, but the latter did not return the money even after repeated requests. He added that Babu had sent the death note on WhatsApp to a zilla panchayat office employee on Wednesday evening, but the latter did not take it seriously. BJP MP Sudhakar has claimed that he never met Babu. 'I don't know who Babu and Manjunath are. Nagesh's relative Krishnamurthy is in our party and I know him. It is a political conspiracy to drag my name into this case. I have nothing to do with it,' said Sudhakar. Kushal Chousky, Superintendent of Police, Chikkaballapur, said, 'Babu has been working as a driver for 7-8 years. He worked as a driver to the chief account officer of the Chikkaballapur ZP. He left home on Wednesday, stating that he needed to go to the zilla panchayat office as the account officer had a meeting there. He parked his car and died by suicide. He has named some people; we are verifying all the details.' Meanwhile, following the death, both BJP and Congress workers arrived at the local Chikkaballapur rural police station in a show of strength on Thursday.
