MCIT opens nominations for 9th Qatar Digital Business Award 2025
MCIT said in a press statement that the award aims to recognise and foster innovation and creativity in digital projects, thereby strengthening Qatar's leading position in the telecommunications, information technology, and digital innovation sectors.
The 9th edition continues to focus on fostering innovation within advanced digital fields by highlighting notable achievements and best practices across several categories, including the 'Best Digital Transformation – Corporate; Best AI Solution– Corporate; Best Digital Experience – Corporate; Best ICT Service Provider – Corporate; Best Digital Transformation – SME; Best Digital Experience – SME; Best AI Solution – SME; Best Startup of the Year; Best Scale-Up of the Year; Research and Development Excellence; Best Smart Solution; Best Cybersecurity Solution; and Entrepreneur of the Year.
On this occasion, Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Industry Affairs at MCIT, Reem Al Mansoori stated: "The 9th edition of the Qatar Digital Business Award reflects our continued commitment to building a diverse and innovative digital economy. This award stands as a pioneering national initiative designed to stimulate digital innovation and promote a culture of excellence within the nation's digital business landscape. This latest edition forms part of the Ministry's strategic objectives and aligns with the Digital Agenda 2030, which seeks to advance the national digital economy and strengthen the digital industries ecosystem by encouraging innovative projects and fostering a competitive environment driven by creativity and innovation."
Al Mansoori added: "QDBA is a key initiative for implementing the Digital Agenda 2030. Through it, we not only celebrate achievements but also accelerate the pace of digital transformation across various sectors and enhance integration between the public and private sectors in developing and adopting digital solutions with a real economic impact. With our diverse award categories, we are prioritising support for companies and digital innovators as part of our commitment to building a stimulating and enabling ecosystem for digital entrepreneurship."
This year, QDBA will honour 13 winners; one for each category following a rigorous evaluation process by an independent judging panel comprising leading experts and specialists in the digital field. The evaluation is based on clear and specific criteria to ensure fairness and transparency. Five finalists from each category will be shortlisted to present to the judging panel before the winners are announced and honoured at the official awards ceremony.

MoCI reopens car company after implementing comprehensive corrective measures
DOHA: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has announced the reopening of Al Jaidah Automotive Company after the company implemented a comprehensive set of corrective measures that met the ministry's requirements. This followed a temporary administrative closure imposed due to violations related to the unavailability of spare parts and delayed after-sales services. In a statement, the ministry explained that the company took the initiative to implement a series of corrective measures, which included resolving all complaints related to customer service and spare parts, as well as enhancing its spare parts inventory through urgent orders worth QR1.6 million. These steps aim to reduce waiting times and improve service quality. The statement added that the company increased the pace of supply from the manufacturer and modified its internal escalation mechanism to ensure that any delay exceeding five days is addressed. Additionally, the company has committed to paying the imposed fines, which amounted to QR180,000. The MoCI affirmed that the company's actions reflect its commitment to rectifying its situation and responding to the Ministry's directives, contributing to an improved standard of after-sales services and reinforcing consumer confidence in the local market. The statement emphasized the Ministry's continued oversight and inspection efforts to ensure that all commercial establishments comply with the provisions of Law No. (8) of 2008 on Consumer Protection. It urged all citizens and residents to report any violations or misconduct via the Ministry's call center at 16001 or through its official social media channels. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued Administrative Decision No. (18/2025) on Aug. 3, closing the company for 30 days, after recording 29 repeated violations of the same nature, in addition to a number of complaints submitted by consumers. These actions constituted a breach of Article (16) of Law No. (8) of 2008 and its executive regulations.
