
Woman, man escape injury in three-vehicle crash near Serendah
HULU SELANGOR: A woman and a man survived a horrific accident involving three vehicles at Kilometre 39 of the Kuala Lumpur–Ipoh road near Serendah yesterday.
Acting district police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Asri Mohd Yunus said the crash occurred at around 4.35pm and involved a Proton Saga, a trailer, and a tanker lorry.
"Preliminary investigations found that the car, driven by a 31-year-old woman, was travelling from Selayang to Batang Kali. Upon reaching the location, the Proton Saga was rear-ended by a tanker lorry driven by a 57-year-old man.
"The impact caused the heavy vehicle to veer into the opposite lane and brush against the trailer," he said in a statement today.
Mohd Asri confirmed that none of the drivers sustained injuries.
He added that police are urging any witnesses or those with information about the accident to come forward to assist in the investigation.

PENAMPANG: A carjacker made off with a retired pilot's Toyota Hilux with his 88-year-old mother still inside after faking a crash near Kg Notorus along Jalan Tambunan–Kota Kinabalu. The incident, which occurred around 11.45am on Thursday, involved 64-year-old John Peter Otigil, who was travelling with his mother and sister when their vehicle was rear-ended by a Proton Saga later found to be stolen. Advertisement Thinking it was a regular accident, John and his sister got out to check the damage after the other driver claimed he had fallen asleep. While John was taking photos of the scene, the suspect suddenly jumped into the Hilux and drove off with the elderly woman still seated inside. John tried to stop the vehicle by clinging onto it but was thrown onto the road, sustaining injuries to his elbow and knee. He then flagged down a passing car and gave chase. His mother was later found unharmed by the roadside about 2km from the scene. John stopped pursuing the suspect and lodged a report at the Penampang police station. Penampang Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton confirmed receiving a report of the incident, adding that the suspect is believed to have fled the scene through a secondary road in Kg Delima, Penampang. 'The case involves a four-wheel-drive vehicle reported stolen by the complainant. Investigations are under way,' he said in a statement issued on Friday. Driver high on meth crashes into oncoming car
KLUANG: A 40-year-old chauffeur with a record of drug offences was arrested after crashing into an oncoming vehicle while under the influence of methamphetamine in Jalan Jaya here on Friday evening. The man is believed to have veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a Proton Saga driven by a 36-year-old trader. Kluang police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the crash happened at 5pm as the suspect, driving a Honda City, was heading to Bandar Kluang from Taman Sri Kluang. "Upon reaching the scene, he swerved into the opposing lane and crashed into the Saga. Both cars suffered major front-end damage," he said in a statement today. The trader, from Taman Sri Kluang, sustained cuts to his hand and body aches, while the suspect escaped unhurt. The suspect tested positive for methamphetamine in a urine test. Background checks showed he had three previous drug-related cases and a criminal record. The case is being investigated under Section 44(1)(a) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving under the influence of drugs, and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug use.

Toddler dies after MPV rams car from behind
Dashcam images from a viral video showing the MPV approaching from behind and ramming the car. PETALING JAYA : A two-year-old girl died from her injuries after the car she was in was rammed from behind by a Toyota Alphard on the North-South Expressway near Muar, Johor, on Monday. Berita Harian reported that Ayesha Sofea Anwaruddin died on Wednesday morning after spending two days in intensive care fighting for her life. The toddler was with her family of four in a Proton Saga, which was on the left lane of the highway. A viral video of the dashcam footage showed the Alphard ramming into the car from behind. Muar police chief Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz confirmed that one of the passengers in the Saga had died in the crash which happened around 7.30am on May 26. 'The multipurpose vehicle (MPV) involved is believed to have lost control before crashing into the back of the car. This caused the car to lose control and skid before crashing into the road divider,' he said in a statement. Raiz said the driver and other two passengers in the Saga also sustained injuries. A breathalyser test cleared the driver of the Alphard from being under the influence of alcohol or any banned substance. He appealed for witnesses to come forward and assist in investigations.
