'Wildly entertaining' Amazon Prime action thriller soars up top 10 chart
Whether it's Brad Pitt and George Clooney assembling a new group in Ocean's Eleven or Tom Cruise setting up his next daring stunt in the Mission: Impossible franchise, teamwork does indeed make the dream work.
And when it comes to Amazon Prime Video's latest series, Countdown, it is certainly no exception to that rule.
Created by Derek Haas, who is known for shows such as One Chicago and FBI: International, viewers are hailing it as a 'wildly entertaining' ride.
Following the murder of a Department of Homeland Security agent, Nathan Blythe (Euphoria star Eric Dane) puts together a task force of agents from various agencies who are each known for their unconventional methods.
The team includes Mark Meachum (The Boys star Jensen Ackles), Amber Oliveras (Jessica Camacho), Keyonte Bell (Elliot Knight), Evan Shepherd (Violett Beane), and Lucas Finau (Uli Latukefu).

Each of them works to track down the murderer; however, the search starts to reveal a much darker conspiracy that could endanger the lives of Americans.
Described by Collider as 'wildly entertaining', the 13-part series has received some mixed reviews after the opening three episodes dropped on the streaming service.
Writing on Rotten Tomatoes, viewer Natalia G said: 'Really enjoyed the first three episodes. Full of action and thrill. All of the actors are doing an amazing job.
Looking for something to watch this July? Why not check out these incredible series … The Boys – 93%
The Wheel of Time – 89%
The Bondsman – 83%
Invincible – 99%
Fallout – 84%
Condor – 87%
'The characters already seem to be well fleshed out, and I quickly became invested in their stories and what they are going through. Jensen Ackles as a lead is doing an amazing job.
'Mark Meachum is a complex character that really is going through some dark stuff in his personal life. And Ackles portrayed that struggle beautifully. Can't wait to see what's next!'
Jade M added: 'Loved it. Kept me on the edge of my seat! Am invested in the team, I need to know about them and I already care. Jensen Ackles was so very good but I was expecting him to be. The others were also very good.'
However, TV criticNick Schager from The Daily Beast wrote: 'Clunky, simplistic, unbelievable, and inert, it's a show that manages the impressive feat of being generic in absolutely every respect.'
Ross McIndoe from Slant Magazine also argued: 'The series feels like a cop show from an older, more conservative era of television.'
This comes as viewers are also rushing to binge an 'excellent' crime drama on Amazon Prime Video that offers a new perspective on a comic book classic.
Created by Bruno Heller, Gotham follows James 'Jim' Gordon's early days at the Gotham City Police Department.
Set during the period after the death of Bruce Wayne's parents, the series has received high praise from fans.
Writing on IMDb, where it currently has a 7.8 rating, hgdybecker described it as a 'different take on the Batman universe – but a very good one'.
Earlier this month, Countdown star Dane broke his silence after receiving a heartbreaking ALS diagnosis in April.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is often referred to as one of the most cruel diseases a human can face, and is a progressive neurological disease that is almost always fatal.
Speaking with Good Morning America's Diane Sawyer, the former Grey's Anatomy star defiantly vowed 'I don't feel like this is the end of me'. More Trending
'I wake up every day and I'm immediately reminded that this is happening,' he said.
'I don't think this is the end of my story. I don't feel like this is the end of me.'
Countdown is available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video.

Sydney Sweeney has legs for days as she cuddles her new puppy in swimsuit snaps
Sydney Sweeney had legs for days as she cuddled her new puppy in her Instagram post over the weekend. The 27-year-old actress slipped into a skintight, long-sleeved spring suit while enjoying a boating excursion on the lake with her precious pooch. Alongside the video of herself smiling and hugging her dog, she wrote in her caption that she was sharing a 'sully update :).' This comes shortly after she adopted her new German Shepherd puppy Sully Bear in April and showed him off in glamorous fashion as she headed to a Met Gala afterparty the following month. The Euphoria star — who is preparing to launch a lingerie brand with $1 billion backing from Jeff Bezos amid rumors she signed on with Amazon MGM to become the next 007 Bond girl — aptly accompanied her post with the song Good Dog from Tall Guy Short Songs. In the short clip, she appeared fresh-faced with wet hair after enjoying a dip in the waters. On the same day, the White Lotus alum also took to her Instagram Story to share another clip of herself sitting on the floor of the boat and looking up at her puppy. Over the adorable video, she wrote 'my big bear' alongside a red heart emoji. She also shared a photo of her puppy lying down in the shallow waters of the sandy shore as she enjoyed some time unwinding on the lake. She first posted her puppy Sully in late April just shortly after news broke that she and her fiancé Jonathan Davino ended their engagement after seven years together. Her outing comes shortly after her unexpected, solo attendance at billionaire Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's lavish wedding in Venice, Italy. She was one of the more surprising celebs spotted at the event, and had many scratching their heads since she doesn't appear to be close friends with either the bride or the groom. The star made headlines during the festivities by partying with the likes of Tom Brady and recently-single Orlando Bloom. Still, her inclusion at the lavish $50 million wedding left some baffled, though another recent business collaboration sheds some light on why she was actually there. She first posted her puppy Sully in late April just shortly after news broke that she and her fiancé Jonathan Davino ended their engagement after seven years together; pictured May in New York City It seems Sweeney's arrival was a show of respect for her future boss Bezos, as per Page Six. Back in March, Sweeney signed on to star in the video game adaptation of the recent hit Split Fiction. The adaptation will be directed by Jon M. Chu (Wicked) and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool & Wolverine). Then in early June, Amazon MGM Studios picked up the project, which seemingly lead to an invite extended to Sweeney for Bezos' wedding. A source admitted Sweeney 'is not friends with either one of them,' though adding she 'came to pay respect to the 'boss just like in the old days of Hollywood.' The fantasy/sci-fi game Split Fiction follows authors Mio and Zoe who become trapped within the worlds they have written. It's unclear which of the two main characters Sweeney will portray, with Amazon said to be 'actively looking' to cast her co-star. Her affiliation with Jeff, who has creative control of the next James Bond movie, also appears to have brought her closer to one of the most esteemed roles a Hollywood star could ask for — that of a Bond Girl. A movie source said: 'Sydney is the top name on the casting sheet for Bond. Denis believes she is hugely talented, as well as having an alluring appeal to younger generations, vital in modernizing the franchise... 'They've hung out together a lot and he has admired her stratospheric rise. Plus she has the quality of being athletic and able to perform physical scenes, as well as being feminine and following in the legacy of Bond girls.'

'Must-see' crime drama with perfect Rotten Tomatoes tops streaming chart
The latest crime drama to hit Amazon Prime Video has been hailed as "one of the best shows of the year". A new crime drama that fans have hailed a "must-see" has climbed its way up Amazon Prime Video's charts, with viewers branding it "one of the best shows of the year." The series called Ballard follows Los Angeles Police Detective Renée Ballard as she attempts to solve a new cold case unit within the Robbery-Homicide Division. Ballard is a spinoff from the detective series Bosch that aired between 2014 and 2021 and followed LAPD Detective Harry Bosch (played by Titus Welliver). This time around, the series follows Maggie Q as she takes on the role of Renée as she leads a team of police officers and detectives attempting to solve decade old crimes including murders. This series, which is based on Michael Connelly's detective novels, sees Renée open up the investigations to end up uncovering a web of corruption and secrets within the police department. The official synopsis reads: "Detective Renée Ballard plunges into a web of murder and corruption as she hunts a ruthless serial killer and uncovers a sinister police conspiracy that threatens everything she stands for." 'With her own demons nipping at her heels, Ballard must outwit both criminals and colleagues to bring long-overdue justice to the victims and their families.' Just days after it aired on Amazon Prime Video, Ballard climbed the Prime Video's UK charts and scored a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating. One viewer praised the show, taking to Rotten Tomatoes to write: "It doesn't disappoint and lives up to all expectations. It should surprise no one that Michael Connelly has another winner. Must watch TV!' Another stated: "I can't stop watching it. After every episode, I think, "I need to go do x," but then I watch another.' 'Very engaging, I binged the whole thing without stopping,' someone else said. Over on X, formally known as Twitter, one fan expressed: "#Ballard is amazing. It picks up the pace when needed but also slows down, giving you time to breathe without ever being boring. It's been so long since I've seen a show do that, and isn't just a sensory overload (even if you binge it in a day). Also Maggie Q is absolutely [fire].' 'What a rollercoaster! Ballard was worth the binge... So far, Harry Bosch's universe remains undefeated,' another added. In addition to roaring reviews from viewers, critics have also acclaimed the Amazon Prime series. "Smartly acted, beautifully paced and genuinely engaging, 'Ballard' is a thrilling ride from start to finish,' a Variety critic said. While a review from Paste Magazine stated: 'Ballard is kick-a**, earnest, and extremely well-written, and may well be one of the best shows of the year.' Responding to the calls for a second season, Maggie Q shared with Variety: 'The good news is we have a writers' room already, so that's very positive. That does not mean we're going to get greenlit for a second season!" 'I wish it did, but I've had writers' rooms start and then end. But the good news is that we are breaking the second season, which is very exciting.'
