India pacer Mukesh Kumar was retained by Delhi Capitals (DC) using the Right to Match (RTM) card for Rs. 8 crore at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. However, Mukesh couldn't perform up to the expectations of the franchise during the last IPL season.
Mukesh was one of the most expensive bowlers in IPL 2025 season as he took 12 wickets in 12 matches and conceded runs at an economy of 10.32. He was particularly very poor in death overs. India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav bats for first time after surgery, on track to feature in Asia Cup
New Delhi [India], August 4 (ANI): India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav had his first batting session at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru late last week in July after undergoing a successful hernia surgery earlier this year, according to ESPNcricinfo. In June, Suryakumar shared an update on Instagram about his successful sports hernia surgery in Munich, Germany. According to ESPNcricinfo, the dynamic batter is currently under the supervision of the BCCI's medical staff as he recovers from the surgery. Suryakumar's workload is expected to be significantly increased over the next few weeks, and it is believed that he is on track for the next month's Asia Cup, which is scheduled to kick off on September 9. According to ESPNcricinfo, the Indian team is expected to travel to the UAE in the first week of September. The tournament will mark the beginning of India's preparations for defending their crown in the T20 World Cup next year. India will host the tournament with Sri Lanka. Suryakumar was handed the reins of India's T20I team after their triumphant World Cup campaign in June 2024, after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the format. The 34-year-old was last seen in action during the Mumbai T20 League in June, during which he represented Triumph Knights Mumbai North East. He pulled the curtain down on his run in the tournament with 122 runs in four innings. Suryakumar put his prolific form on exhibition during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. In his record-shattering run, the dynamic batter played a key role in guiding the Mumbai Indians (MI) to the playoffs. He enjoyed a record-breaking season, registering 16 consecutive scores of 25 or more, a world record. Suryakumar finished the tournament with 717 runs, the highest ever by a Mumbai Indians batter in a single season and the most by any non-opener in IPL history. Under Surya's leadership, India's T20 batting has scaled new heights, emphasising attacking intent and batting depth. The team has consistently posted mammoth totals, including a staggering 297 against Bangladesh in October 2024, the second-highest total in T20 history. (ANI)

Bumrah fit, available for Asia Cup
MUMBAI: Apart from India's dramatic win over England in the fifth Test to level the series 2-2, Indian fans would be relieved that pace ace Jasprit Bumrah is fit and fine. Bumrah sat out the Oval Test to manage his workload and not due to any injury, it is learnt. He is available for the Asia Cup T20 tournament next month. Jasprit Bumrah. (PTI) 'As announced by chief selector Ajit Agarkar at the time of the team selection, the decision on the number of Tests Bumrah will be able to play was taken in advance by the medical and fitness team. If he was injured, he would be going to BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for recovery and rehab,' an official with knowledge of the issue told HT when contacted. After Bumrah played the first and third Tests of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series, the team management had the choice of playing him in the fourth or the final Test. With India trailing 2-1, coach Gautam Gambhir and support staff decided to field the fast bowler in the Manchester game. Bumrah bowled a total of 119.4 overs in the three Tests. With just three days between the last two Tests, it was decided to rest the bowler who played in all five Tests on the 2024-25 tour of Australia, breaking down in the final game in Sydney. Bumrah took 14 wickets in the England series with five-wicket hauls at Leeds and Lord's. The Gujarat player has been sensational for India across formats and lethal in Tests with 219 wickets in just 48 matches at an average of 19.82 and a strike rate of 42.6, but has battled fitness issues, including back injury that needed surgery. Careful about their strike bowler's workload, the team managements have been selective, getting him to play mainly in marquee ICC events and important bilateral fixtures. The Asia Cup begins on September 9.

'We've won 3-2': Suryakumar Yadav's emotional take after India beat England at The Oval
BCCI Photo NEW DELHI: India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav shared his thoughts on the thrilling Oval Test win over England, saying it felt to him like India had won the series 3-2. In a pulsating contest that went down to the wire, outstanding spells from Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna helped India secure a dramatic six-run victory, levelling the five-match series 2-2 and denying the hosts a home series win. With this result, the Shubman Gill-led Indian side has kicked off a new era with great promise, ending the series on a high. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! "It was a lot of fun. I am feeling as if we have won 3-2. Whatever changes were made, whoever made their debut, everyone did well. This is the effort of the whole unit. I am very happy for the team. Whenever the team performs, obviously, it feels good," Suryakumar said. In the match, after being put in to bat, India were reduced to 153/6. A 58-run partnership between Karun Nair (57 off 109 balls, with eight fours) and Washington Sundar (26 off 55 balls, with three fours) was the highlight of the innings as India were bowled out for 224. Gus Atkinson starred with a five-wicket haul, while Josh Tongue chipped in with 3/57. England's first innings was kept in check by four-wicket hauls from Siraj (4/86) and Prasidh Krishna (4/62). Despite a strong 92-run opening stand between Zak Crawley (64 off 57 balls, with 14 fours) and Ben Duckett (43 off 38 balls, with five fours and two sixes), and a half-century from Harry Brook (53 off 64 balls, with five fours and a six), England were restricted to 247, gaining a slim lead of 23 runs. In their second outing with the bat, India posted a formidable 396, thanks to key performances from Yashasvi Jaiswal (118 off 164 balls, with 14 fours and two sixes), Akash Deep (66 off 94 balls, with 12 fours), Ravindra Jadeja (53 off 77 balls, with five fours), and Washington Sundar (53 off 46 balls, with four fours and four sixes). Sundar played a crucial role in the 10th wicket stand alongside Prasidh Krishna, who didn't score but held firm at one end while Sundar provided the fireworks. This gave India a commanding 373-run lead, setting England a daunting target of 374 to clinch the series. India started strong with the ball, reducing England to 106/3. However, centuries from Harry Brook (111 off 98 balls, with 14 fours and two sixes) and Joe Root (105 off 152 balls, with 12 fours) built a 195-run partnership for the fourth wicket and threatened to take the match away. England were cruising at 317/4 on day four, but a late surge by Siraj (5/104) and Krishna (4/126) turned the tide in India's favour. England were bowled out for 367, just six runs short of the target. The 2-2 result is a fitting reflection of a fiercely contested series. The Shubman Gill era has begun with resilience and intent, offering a glimpse of a promising future for Indian Test cricket.
