100 Crore Box Office Club: Akshay Kumar leads with 18 films; Salman Khan follows with 17 movies
Those who followed Bollywood box office scene in the early 2010s will recall the awe and frenzy surrounding the "100 crore club." It was more than just a number. It was seen as a sort of an indication that the audiences have accepted your content. Trade circles, media outlets and fan discussions revolved around who had entered the club, who had the most films in it and who was yet to make the cut.
Ghajini was the first Bollywood movie to net Rs 100 crore. As years passed, inflation and wider releases kicked in, the Rs. 100 crore mark became easier to attain. While its sheen may have faded, the number still carries a symbolic appeal. A Rs. 100 crore film feels like a headline worthy success, if not always a blockbuster.
Today, Housefull 5 has become the latest entrant into this once-coveted club, crossing the Rs. 100 crore mark on its sixth day of release. This milestone makes it the 107th Bollywood film to reach the landmark. More significantly, it is Akshay Kumar's 18th film to do so, cementing his position as the actor with the most Rs. 100 crore films in Hindi cinema. Salman Khan trails with 17 films but since Akshay Kumar's frequency of releases is higher, he is likely to widen his lead in the years to come. Other lead actors with more than 10 films in the Rs 100 crore club are Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan.
1. Housefull 2 (2012)
2. Rowdy Rathore (2012)
3. Holiday (2014)
4. Airlift (2016)
5. Housefull 3 (2016)
6. Rustom (2016)
7. Jolly LLB 2 (2017)
8. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017)
9. Gold (2018)
10. 2.0 (Hindi version, 2018)
11. Kesari (2019)
12. Mission Mangal (2019)
13. Housefull 4 (2019)
14. Good Newwz (2019)
15. Sooryavanshi (2021)
16. OMG 2 (2023)
17. Sky Force* (2025)
18. Housefull 5 (2025)
Housefull 5 has crossed Rs 100 crore alright, but now it has to hold well in the days to follow, to ensure it succeeds. For a film as big as Housefull 5, the benchmark can't just be Rs 100 crore. It has to be more like Rs 200 crore, if not Rs 500-600 crore that all time blockbuster films are netting in today's time.
Housefull 5 plays in theatres now.

‘Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar work on an 8-hour shift too,' says Kabir Khan defending Deepika Padukone amid Spirit controversy
Deepika Padukone's reported feud with Sandeep Reddy Vanga over her demand for an 8-hour workday made headlines recently. Since then, several people from the film industry have come out in support of the actor. Now, director Kabir Khan, who is also a friend of Deepika, has defended her. He also revealed that even male actors, including Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar, work on an 8-hour shift. In an interview with Movified, Kabir spoke about the need for proper working hours in the film industry, citing mental health and better efficiency. 'I work with 500 crew members who each have families and their own lives. Their well‑being matters, not just for efficiency, but for their mental health,' he said. While defending Deepika's demands, Kabir added, 'It's a fair point. Aamir Khan works on an 8‑hour shift. Akshay Kumar too. So I don't see why Deepika should be denied the same. If a filmmaker doesn't agree, they should have a valid reason. It's that simple.' 'These are basic rules,' he asserted. When asked about Deepika Padukone's reported fee demand of Rs 25 crore, Kabir Khan said that remuneration should align with audience appeal and box office draw, noting that she attracts huge crowds to theatres. 'Whoever brings in the viewers, whether an actor, director, man or woman… they deserve to be paid what they're worth,' he said. ‘Kubera' promises emotion and grandeur
The movie 'Kubera' has turned out to be very amazing. The emotion in 'Kubera' will connect with everyone. It will give a very different experience to the audience, say producers Sunil Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao. Superstar Dhanush, King Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna star in the highly anticipated pan-India movie 'Kubera', directed by Sekhar Kammula. With an amazing cast, 'Kubera' is set to be a game-changer in Indian cinema. The promotional content of 'Kubera' that has already been released has received a tremendous response. Songs 'Poira Mama', 'Trans of Kubera', and 'PP Dum Dum' are trending on the music charts with a chartbuster response. Sunil Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao are producing this film with a high budget and high production values on SVCLLP, in association with Sekhar Kammula's Amigos Creations Private Limited. 'Kubera' is set to release grandly worldwide on June 20 in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. On this occasion, producers Sunil Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao shared the highlights of the film at a press conference. How did the 'Kubera' project materialise? Sekhar Kammula told us this idea after 'Love Story'. He thought that Dhanush would be perfect for this story. He narrated it to Dhanush, who listened for 20 minutes and immediately signed on. That's how the project began. Dhanush garu is a pan-India star. He has also made films in Hindi. Nagarjuna garu has been in Hindi films forever. Everyone knows Rashmika garu—she's a popular actress across India. This film was made with such a big star cast according to the story. Dhanush garu, Nagarjuna garu, Rashmika garu—everyone supported it wonderfully. 'Kubera' is a straight Telugu and Tamil film. We are dubbing it into Hindi and releasing it. The first copy is already ready. The movie has turned out amazing. This is the first time Sekhar Kammula is making a film with such a big star cast. How different is this going to be? Sekhar Kammula is our favourite director. Every time I watch his movie 'Leader', it still feels very fresh. This time, he has made a film with a bigger star cast. It will definitely give the audience a very new experience. This is a very different movie. Sekhar Kammula is a filmmaker who sees stars as characters and makes films. You'll see real characters in this film too. What is the 'Kubera' conflict? The richest man in the world vs. the poorest man on the streets. That is the central conflict. What was the element that struck you in the story of 'Kubera'? Sekhar makes films that touch the audience emotionally and leave them with a good feeling. This film is no exception. The emotions in it will connect with the audience. What challenges did you face while shooting? Shooting in real locations is always a challenge. We shot in actual slums, garbage dumps, and dumping yards. Shooting in Bombay, especially on real streets, was another big challenge. We never worried about the budget. We did not compromise at all on what the content required. We are releasing the film on a grand scale. It will be released in about 1,600 screens. I'm confident it will have a wonderful opening. How was Nagarjuna brought into the project? We always wanted to work with Nagarjuna garu. Sekhar garu couldn't imagine anyone else in this role except him. Nagarjuna sir liked the story and acted wonderfully. His performance was so good, it's hard to imagine anyone else in that role. What about Devi Sri Prasad's music? Devi Sri Prasad is an excellent music director. He composed many different songs for this film. The background score is amazing as well. Dhanush sang two songs. That was a collective decision by the director and Devi Sri. Are you releasing it in Tamil as well? No, we've handed over the Tamil distribution to a distributor named Rahul. Sunil garu, do you plan to make your daughter Janhvi a producer? Absolutely. She is very interested in film production and is very active. My brother's son is also interested in film production. What about your next projects? We are going to do another film with Sekhar Kammula. However, the hero has not been finalised yet.
