Gurjar was accused of taking bribe in exchange for issuing land lease by the state govt, in which ACB filed a charge sheet against her and her spouse Sushil Gurjar, private person Anil Kumar Dubey, and Narayan Singh.
ACB investigation alleged MUnesh Gurjar signed the plot leases at the behest of her husband and kept leases in his possesion. On Aug 4, 2023, ACB arrested Sushil for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh for issuing a land deed to a person.
The court of Justice Anoop Dhand, while dismissing the petition, said, "Involvement in a criminal case relating to the offence of corruption is disgraceful because such an offence is widely regarded as a 'cancer' for society. In a democratic setup, public representatives serve as the voice of the people, entrusted with the responsibility of representing the interests and concerns of their constituents."
Ashok Mehta, counsel for the petitioner argued that the state govt took unilateral action against Gurjar and alleged that the govt' decision was politically motivated.
Advocate general Rajendra Prasad, however, said, "The govt gave full opportunity to Gurjar to be heard before she was suspended."

Building Pune: Pune Metro to expedite work on extended route from PCMC to Nigdi
Pune Metro rail authorities are expediting the completion of the extended segment of the Phase One route from PCMC station to Bhakti Shakti in Nigdi, with the goal of making it operational six months ahead of schedule. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the construction of this 4.413 km-long extended stretch in March last year, but the actual work began only five months later. 'The construction of the extension stretch from PCMC to Bhakti Shakti in Nigdi began in August last year, and the civil work is going in full swing. The deadline for completing work on the stretch is 36 months from the start of actual work, but we are planning to complete it in 30 months,' said Hemant Sonawane, Executive Director, Pune Metro Rail. Sonawane said the administrative processes for laying overhead cables on the track and the mechanical work of installing escalators and lifts have begun even before the completion of civil work. 'We don't want to waste time on completing the administrative process for the works related to the stretch, so it has been done well in advance,' said Sonawane. The route from PCMC to Bhakti Shakti in Nigdi is elevated and has three stations at Chinchwad, Akurdi, and Nigdi. The estimated cost of the extended route is Rs 1,048.22 crore, which covers expenses on development of intermodal integration, stations, pedestrian bridge, system and tracks, environment impact assessment, design, depot and parking on the route. The 17.4 km Metro route from Swargate to PCMC has been made operational and has received positive response from the public. This route has been extended from PCMC to Nigdi on one end and Swargate to Katraj on the other end. However, the construction on the extended underground route of 5.5 km from Swargate to Katraj is yet to start even though it is expected to be completed by February 2029 at an estimated cost of Rs 2,954.53 crore. Additionally, the second route, measuring 15.7 km from Vanaz to Ramwadi, is also fully operational. Last month, the Central Government approved its extension on both ends — connecting Vanaz to Chandani Chowk and Ramwadi to Wagholi. These two extended elevated corridors will span 12.75 km and include 13 stations, linking fast-developing suburbs such as Chandani Chowk, Bavdhan, Kothrud, Kharadi, and Wagholi. The project is scheduled for completion within four years at an estimated cost of Rs 3636.24 crore. Meanwhile, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is developing the Metro Line-3, which will span 23 km from Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar District Court. This line is expected to start operations by March 2026. Ajay Jadhav is an Assistant Editor with The Indian Express, Pune. ED conducts first raid in Andaman & Nicobar Islands into ‘loan scam' allegedly linked to ex-MP
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted its first-ever raids in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in connection with an alleged loan scam at the Andaman Nicobar State Cooperative Bank (ANSCB). Searches were carried out at nine locations in and around Port Blair and two in Kolkata. The raids, conducted on July 31, were part of an ongoing probe into alleged irregularities in the disbursal of loans and overdraft facilities by the bank. During the search operations, the ED said it recovered several documents indicating 'serious irregularities' in the manner loans were sanctioned. The agency said, 'Around 15 entities/companies were created by suspects for the benefit of Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Ex-(Congress) MP of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and loan facilities amounting to more than Rs 200 crore were fraudulently taken by these entities from the ANSCB. It is worth mentioning here that (Sharma) is also the Vice-Chairman of the Andaman Nicobar State Cooperative Bank.' According to the ED, loans were allegedly granted to shell firms and front companies 'bypassing due diligence and internal banking procedures.' The probe is based on an FIR lodged by the Crime and Economic Offences Wing of the Andaman and Nicobar Police against multiple private individuals and bank officials allegedly linked to the scam.

Assam CM reviews preparations for second edition of 'Nijut Moina' scheme for girl students
Guwahati : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday reviewed preparations for launch of the second edition of the 'Nijut Moina' scheme, which provides financial support to eligible girl students for higher studies. Sarma held a video conference with his cabinet colleagues, MLAs, district commissioners (DCs), principals of educational institutions and officials from the education department to review the rollout of the scheme. ''The fight against child marriage gets stronger. Last year, our flagship scheme #NijutMoina helped close to 2 lakh girls with Rs 132 cr in assistance,'' he said in a post on X. The scheme was launched in October last year to provide financial assistance to girl students from higher secondary to post-graduate level in government and government-aided institutions, as most girls drop out of school after Class 10 and parents marry them off thereafter, officials said. Assam is the first state where the scheme has been launched, with the primary objective to curb child marriage by increasing the enrolment of girl students in higher education, they said. This year, the forms will be distributed to eligible girl students from August 6, the CM said. Sarma directed the DCs and principals to ensure smooth and transparent implementation of the scheme with maximum reach. He had earlier said the 'Nijut Moina' programme is aimed to protect children's rights to education, health, protection, empower girls to make informed choices and economic independence, delay marriage until emotional, mental and physical maturity and reduce teenage motherhood. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like How to Ease Knee Pain Without Injections or Side Effects Learn More Undo This is not a scheme to create beneficiaries, but to ensure a long-term social impact to develop the inherent talent of the girl child, Sarma had said.
