RCB Star Set To Become Englands Youngest Mens Captain During Ireland T20Is; Check Details
During the T20Is against England, Bethell, who play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Indian Premier League (IPL), will become England's youngest men's captain.
The 21-year-old Bethell will surpass the record currently held by Monty Bowden, who was 23 and 144 days when he led England against South Africa at Cape Town on the Test tour of 1888-89.
"Jacob Bethell has impressed with his leadership qualities ever since he has been with the England squads and the series against Ireland will provide him with the opportunity to further develop those skills on the international stage," England men's selector Luke Wright said.

Meanwhile, Sonny Baker has won his maiden England call-up after impressing in the winter with the England Lions and during the Blast and The Hundred. Baker is named in both the South Africa ODI squad and the Ireland T20I group, joining a largely settled limited-overs core.
"Sonny is a player we have identified for a while and he was impressive during the England Lions tours last winter. He has carried that form into this season in white-ball cricket with Hampshire and Manchester Originals and deservedly gets his opportunity," Wright said.

On the other hand, Rehan Ahmed returns to the ODI side after a prolific summer with the bat. He is included in all three squads.
South Africa will tour for three ODIs and three T20Is to conclude England's home season, before the trip to Malahide for the Ireland games. With Brook, Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse, Ben Duckett, and Jamie Smith rested for the Ireland leg, Marcus Trescothick will stand in for Brendon McCullum as head coach.

Samson is doubtful Despite Sanju Samson scoring three T20I centuries last year, Srikkanth reckons the right-handed batter is not a sure-shot starter in the Asia Cup squad. He believes Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Sai Sudharsan should be in the reckoning to make the team as openers. 'Samson is doubtful, according to me. My first-choice opener is Abhishek Sharma, no doubt. I will have two more openers. My picks would be Vaibhav Suryavanshi or Sai Sudharsan, with Shubman Gill as an option. If I were a selector, I would keep Vaibhav in the 15 for the T20 World Cup,' said Srikkanth. 'He has been outstanding. I think it should be Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Sai Sudharsan. I would take two out of these three. That would be my preference,' he added. Earlier this year, Sanju Samson found the going tough in the five-match series against England as he was repeatedly found susceptible to bouncers. The conditions in Dubai will favour Varun, as he took nine wickets in three matches during the ICC CT 2025. Varun noted that while the wickets in Dubai have been favourable, there are many factors necessary for his performance. 'One factor out of those is the ground conditions, and I hope they favours us. On the other hand, in IPL, you may have seen that the factors and conditions do not help the bowlers much. So, I am also used to bowling in such conditions. Hence, I am ready for both, but I am very eager to see how the pitches are at this point of the year in the UAE," he added. Varun acknowledged the significant role T20I skipper Surya and coach Gambhir played in his comeback. Before the tour of Bangladesh for T20Is, the skipper told him, 'I am looking at you; let's see how things go, but I am keen on having you in the team setup." 'Similarly, Gauti Bhai also has helped me a lot in my comeback, the way he motivates me.
