After 18 long years, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) created history in Ahmedabad by winning their first-ever Indian Premier League title on June 3. Virat Kohli, who has been with the team since the beginning, shed happy tears as wife Anushka Sharma came running towards him for a long, tight hug, and a forehead kiss from the cricketer. In a chat post the award ceremony, Kohli also opened up about the significance of the win for the Zero actor, whom he married in 2017.
'What your life partner does for you to be able to play, and the sacrifices, and the commitment, and just backing you through thick and thin…it's something that you can't explain in words. Only when you play professionally do you understand the number of things that go on behind the scenes and what they go through emotionally as well. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly dished out a detailed blueprint on how to use Jasprit Bumrah on English conditions to get maximum output from the pacer in the five-match Test series. Bumrah has been one of the pillars in Indian cricket in the past few years. However, his workload management in recent times has been a concern. Although the Indian management would want the premier pacer to be available for all five Tests, Bumrah is likely to be rested in at least one Test match if not a couple, thus ensuring him to be in his best possible shape throughout the series. Ganguly came up with a clear plan for new captain Shubman Gill on how to get Bumrah for all the five games. 'Shubman Gill needs to understand to not bowl Bumrah into the ground. Use him as a wicket-taker, use him in short spells, so that he remains fit for five Test matches,' Ganguly told RevSportz. "And make sure the others (chip in) – young Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj has got tremendous fitness and ability, and is a warhorse. 'Make sure Bumrah is used as a wicket-taker. He has got to understand that, and I am sure Gautam (Gambhir) is there , and the senior players there, they will guide him,' added the former BCCI president. Despite being the no.1 Test bowler in the world, Bumrah broke down in Australia in the fifth and final Test in Sydney. Such was the extent of his back injury, that the 31-year-old had to miss India's triumphant ICC Champions Trophy campaign in Dubai and the initial part of the recently-concluded Indian Premier League for Mumbai Indians. With four fast bowlers important against England, Ganguly wants Gill to not use Bumrah for more than 12-13 overs in a day. 'You've got to look out for him and not make him bowl more than 12-13 overs. I believe four fast bowlers are important,' said the former left-hander. 'Here, others will have to be the warhorses like Siraj, Arshdeep. Not sure about a Nitish or a Shardul Thakur. Maybe they can get some runs with the bat, but I think India need to back the seven batters and then back the bowlers, because we need 20 wickets to win Test matches,' he said.

Gautam Gambhir, Shubman Gill poked by England; told India will 'miss Virat Kohli's aura, chirping': 'Our boys are ready'
Eighteen years. 18. That's how long it's been since India last won a Test series in England. In these last 18 years, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin made their debuts, carved out a legacy like no other and retired. Yet, a win in England has eluded their Test careers. And now, in 2025, as a young Indian team takes centre-stage in England, while they are clearly not the favourites to break the hoodoo, do not rule out the element of surprise. Look no further than the 2020-21 tour of Australia, where a young Indian team, battling injuries, did the unthinkable and wrapped up a memorable 2-1 series win. India have not lost a Test series to England since 2018. They beat England 3-1 at home in 2021, drew the series 2-2 away in 2021-2022 and defeated them again last year at home 4-1. However, the upcoming series, starting in 10 days' time, offers a fresh challenge. "It's a great time for us to play India. Last summer, we had the West Indies and Sri Lanka, but with India coming over, the level of quality that they will bring is a great way for us to focus on that and not look ahead. So yeah, for us, it's the perfect time to play India, and then once the Ashes come around, it will be exciting," Pope pointed out.
