Gopalganj admin cracks down on orchestra groups after groom's abduction
Patna: In the aftermath of a groom's abduction by members of an orchestra group during a wedding on May 23, Gopalganj SP Avdhesh Dixit has issued stringent directives aimed at regulating such performances.
Dixit has ordered immediate preparation of a list of orchestra groups employing minor girls, many from West Bengal and Odisha, who are allegedly subjected to exploitation and abuse. "FIRs will be lodged against any operator found employing minors or continuing performances beyond 10pm," the SP said.
The groom was kidnapped following a dispute over payment between the orchestra and the event organisers, police sources said.
The SP convened meetings with orchestra operators across the district, during which strict conditions were laid out. No permission will be granted for performances beyond 10pm and all operators were made to sign bonds pledging to maintain public order and refrain from objectionable activities.
"Police investigations revealed that during a dispute involving a 'launda dance' on May 23, youths associated with the orchestra kidnapped the groom.

There was a previous incident involving assault at an event by a Bhojpuri group," Dixit said.
He added that obscenity was often being promoted under the guise of cultural performances. "We believe such events are sending the wrong message to society. Issues like celebratory firing, display of weapons, vulgar songs and human trafficking are under investigation," he said, adding that all orchestra events are now under police surveillance.
"Most dancers come from states like West Bengal and Odisha. Many are minors. We are not against employment, but if an activity threatens law and order, it must be addressed," the SP said.

Six interstate drug peddlers held in H'bag
1 2 Hazaribag: A total of six drug peddlers were arrested with 15 kg opium valued at Rs 1.5 crore. Contraband, including 28.57 kg raw materials, three motorcycles, six mobile phones, and Rs 66,000 were seized, SP Anjani Anjan said on Thursday. The arrested were identified as Rahul Yadav (23) and Mohammed Arshad Ansari of Thotwa village under Katkamsandi police station limits. Rahul Yadav belonged to Kendua in Chatra," he added. The SP further said, "From Lohsinghna, 10.8 kg opium and doda valued at 6.67 lakh were seized." Preliminary probe found that the consignment was being transported from Chatra to across the country, police said.

Fake centre promising jobs busted in Mainpuri, 2 arrested
The Mainpuri police have busted a centre, promising jobs in government offices and in the Indian Army, running near Kisni town of Mainpuri district. The owner was arrested along with a lady assistant from Orissa on a complaint lodged by aggrieved students who came from Telangana state after being cheated in the name of a government job. Addressing a press conference, superintendent of police, Mainpuri, Ganesh Prasad Saha, told the media about the network operating after students and candidates coming from Telangana state lodged a complaint against the centre with the Mainpuri police. 'It was alleged that accused Arvind Kumar Pandey used to claim himself as retired army captain and had certain photographs through which he used to fool and cheat aspirants coming seeking jobs in the Indian army but were provided jobs mostly as security guards after grabbing cash of ₹2 - 3 lakh,' said Saha. 'Such a fake centre was run previously at Ghiror (Mainpuri), NOIDA, Uttarakhand at which students and aspirants from Telangana, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Orissa used to come,' he said. 'A surveillance team was asked to verify the complaint and after tracing irregularities, a case was registered at Kisni police station under section 318(4) (cheating) of Bhartiya Nyayay Sanhita on complaint of Ashok, a resident of Ramchandrapur colony, within the limits of Kareem Nagar police station, in Telangana,' stated Saha. 'Dr Arvind Kumar Pandey was named as the accused, being the owner of the centre, Bhartiya Police Protection Force (BPPF). On May 4, Pandey, originally from Faridabad in Haryana but now residing in Mainpuri, was arrested along with Suchitra Senapati, from district Khurda in Orissa,' he said. Police recovered fake documents including fake joining letters, medical, affidavits, rent deed, agreements, Aadhar cards, sticker having Ashoka Chakra, uniform, mobile, tablet which revealed that accused had cheated 300 to 400 students or aspirants of jobs in govt offices and army, said police officers. 'Pandey was a habitual offender and had earlier run a fake toothpaste company and before the pandemic, had cheated girls aspiring to become Miss India. Pandey used to claim himself a retired captain from the army and had been prefixing 'Doctor' before his name on rubber stamps found from the centre and used Ashok Chakra in his correspondence,' stated the SP. 'After tracing such use of fake and forged material, the section 338 (forgery of valuable security), 336(3) (altering document with dishonest intent), 340(2) (use of forged electronic record), 205 (impersonating as public servant by wearing symbols) of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, Section 11 of State Emblem of India (Prohibition of Improper Use) Act and Section 20(2) and 21 of Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act,' the SP said. Police is searching for Prakash Kumar, claiming to be the treasurer of the centre.

NIA raids 32 locations across Kashmir; crackdown on Pakistan-backed terror networks intensifies
NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday launched coordinated searches at 32 locations across Jammu and Kashmir in a continued crackdown on Pakistan-backed terror outfits and their offshoots, which have allegedly been conspiring to destabilise the region. According to an official statement, the raids targeted residential premises of hybrid terrorists and overground workers linked to banned organisations like The Resistance Front (TRF), United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir (ULFJ&K), Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH), Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers, and PAAF. These groups are considered offshoots of proscribed outfits such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Al-Badr. The agency suspects these individuals have been aiding terror infrastructure by facilitating operatives, transporting sticky bombs and IEDs, managing funds, and handling arms, ammunition, and narcotics.
