Belmont Stakes payout: How much Sovereignty, Journalism and other horses won today. Purse details and more

Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty won the 157th Belmont Stakes on Saturday, surging past favored Journalism just as he did at Churchill Downs to finish with two legs of this year's Triple Crown. Sovereignty sat out of the Preakness only to make a stunning return in the last leg, pulling away in the final straight to relegate Journalism to second again. Baeza was third to complete the repeat of the Kentucky Derby one-two-three. With the win, Sovereignty claims a large share of the $2 million purse. The 2025 Belmont Stakes offered a $2 million purse, matching 2024's increase from $1.5 million and equaling the Preakness but trailing the Kentucky Derby's $5 million. The purse was split among the top eight finishers, with 80% typically going to owners, 10% to trainers, and 10% to jockeys. Owners (Godolphin): ~$960,000 Trainer (Bill Mott): ~$120,000 Jockey (Junior Alvarado): ~$120,000 Owners (Eclipse Thoroughbreds et al.): ~$288,000 Trainer (Michael McCarthy): ~$36,000 Jockey (Umberto Rispoli): ~$36,000 Rodriguez: $100,000 Crudo: $80,000 Uncaged: $60,000 Hill Road: $40,000 Heart of Honor: $20,000 Sovereignty, skipping the Preakness for rest, outran Journalism by three lengths in 2:00.69 on a fast track after morning rain dried. Longshots Rodriguez, Uncaged, and Crudo led early, but Sovereignty's late surge, echoing his Derby win, proved decisive. Trainer Bill Mott's strategy to bypass the Preakness made Sovereignty the first horse to win the Derby and Belmont without running the Preakness. Journalism, running all three Triple Crown races, showed fatigue. Sovereignty trainer Bill Mott said he was "on a cloud". "The horse proved himself," McCarthy said. "The form held up -- the first three finishers in the Derby were one-two-three today, and I think it just was a great race."

Where's Lauren? Fans question Connor McDavid's wife's absence during pivotal Stanley Cup showdown as she skips 2 games in a row

While Connor McDavid battles for the Stanley Cup, his wife, Lauren Kyle, is making headlines of her own (Getty Images) As the Edmonton Oilers fight for the Stanley Cup, not everyone tied to the team is watching from the stands. While Game 2 against the Florida Panthers played out with high stakes on the ice, team captain Connor McDavid's wife, Lauren Kyle, was making her presence felt halfway across the world—in a very different way. Lauren Kyle skips Stanley Cup Final Game 2 to support Leon Draisaitl 's fiancée at her bachelorette getaway Instead of joining the crowd at Rogers Place or the Panthers' arena, Lauren Kyle remained in Mykonos, Greece, where she fulfilled her role as a bridesmaid for Celeste Desjardins , the fiancée of Oilers star Leon Draisaitl. The tropical escape is more than just a getaway—it's part of Desjardins' bachelorette celebration, with other WAGs (wives and girlfriends of players), including Mikayla Nurse, wife of defenseman Darnell Nurse, joining in the festivities. Although she's miles from the Stanley Cup action, Lauren made it clear she's still cheering on her husband and the team. She posted a sleek Instagram Story showing Game 2 streaming on a laptop, with glasses of wine and the glowing city lights of Mykonos in the background. '@ a view with a view,' she captioned it, a nod both to the scenic skyline and the screen showing her team in action. Balancing tradition and team spirit This isn't the first time Lauren has missed playoff action during the Oilers' Cup run—she was also absent for Game 1. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pinga-Pinga e HBP? Some believe the captain's wife should be by his side during such a critical moment, while others applaud her for standing by her bridesmaid commitments and supporting another member of the Oilers' inner circle. Still, Lauren's remote show of support reflects the modern dynamic between athletes and their partners—balancing personal obligations with unwavering support, even when thousands of miles apart. Aaron Rodgers' signing photo fuels marriage rumours. Source: X The Pittsburgh Steelers officially introduced Aaron Rodgers as their newest signing on Saturday through a social media post. However, one detail shocked fans and also led to widespread online speculation. The team shared a photo of the 41-year-old quarterback signing his new contract, which is reportedly valued at $13.65 million, including $10 million guaranteed. As per reports, with performance and playtime incentives, the deal could potentially be worth up to $19.5 million. But what caught fans' attention was a black ring on the fourth finger of Rodgers' left hand. Aaron Rodgers might be married, guess fans after spotting ring on his hand Naturally, fans were quick to share rumours that the veteran NFL QB is either engaged or married. Earlier this year, after making an appearance at the Kentucky Derby, Rodgers was also seen wearing a dark band on his ring finger, fueling marriage rumours at the time. 'Aaron Rodgers officially signs with the Steelers … and what's that on his left ring finger?' one person wrote on X. Another user noted, 'Did i miss something?? Is Aaron Rodgers married?' "I'm in a different phase of my life," he said in an interview in April. "I'm 41 years old. I'm in a serious relationship. I have off-the-field stuff going on that requires my attention." Aaron Rodgers has been in a number of high profile relationships. However, his recent partner is not a celebrity. Aaron Rodgers is currently dating someone named Brittani, as he revealed in December 2024 during an episode of "The Pat McAfee Show". Rodgers shared that she is "not in the spotlight" and does not use social media. Aaron's signing photo led fans to believe that he may have secretly married Brittany; however, the athlete himself has not yet spoken about it. The Steelers announced on Friday that they have reached a one-year agreement with 41-year-old veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers. A four-time NFL MVP and Super Bowl XLV champion, Rodgers spent 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers before playing two years with the New York Jets.
