Scam of making Aadhar cards through forgery busted
Those arrested were Ravi Dhadaniya (26), Haresh Sakariya (44), Bipin alias Vishal Chowtiya (36), Jugesh Besra (32), Sarthak Borad (29), and Dhanpal Boricha (28). Fifty eight forged documents were seized.
They targeted people who lacked valid documents required for Aadhaar updates, such as name or address changes. They used PAN cards, marriage certificates, birth certificates, and government gazette documents—editing them to make necessary changes appear legitimate.
DCP (Crime) Dr Parthrajsinh Gohil said the Aadhaar-related services were being offered at an office named Shivam Infotechon Raiya Road.
Sarthak and Dhanpal had obtained permissions to run a public service centre, which had been operational for the past 18 months years at Shivam Infotech. Bipin and Jugesh would scan the original documents and use software such as Paint and Aadhaar Magic to edit key details. These tampered documents were then uploaded to the Aadhaar portal as genuine.
Ravi and Haresh were responsible for bringing in customers who wanted updates to their Aadhaar cards.

Housing societies cautioned against fake tenant registration documents; QR code verification soon
Pune: With a spike in fake, tampered, or unregistered tenant registration documents being submitted to housing societies, the Association of Service Providers has sounded an alert to all society committees across Maharashtra. Several recent cases revealed tenants submitting forged leave and licence agreements, often altered PDF copies created by local agents. "Societies need to be vigilant. Fake documents can land owners in legal trouble. Many tenants submit altered PDFs instead of officially registered documents as they are fleeced. They need to do it through a proper agent," association president Sachin Shinghavi said, adding that a robust verification mechanism is the need of the hour. In one case, a society member discovered a forged document only after checking it with the registration department. "An agent edited the document and submitted it as genuine. Only after showing it to officials did we realise it was fake," the member said and added that the department initiated action against the agent. Shinghavi also highlighted issues in the current leave and licence 1.9 software, where police verification is often missing despite being mandatory. "Though the process includes Aadhaar verification, witness details, address confirmation, and sharing data with police via CCTNS, loopholes remain as in some fake documents these are not seen, which needs to be checked thoroughly using the department website," he said. To address this, the registration department introduced a QR code-based verification in Mumbai City and suburbs under the leave and licence 2.0 software. "The QR code allows instant verification and ensures police verification is auto-generated," said deputy inspector general (IT) Abhay Mohite. Work is under way to expand this feature across Maharashtra, he said. Housing federation members stressed that landlords bear the brunt of fake registrations, and called for a simplified, transparent system. Tenants, too, have fallen victims. "An agent promised me that the agreement was registered, but it turned out to be fake. There should be a way for tenants to verify the process themselves," said Seema N, a tenant in Pune. Man held for misuse of councillor's stamp to change Aadhaar records
Vadodara: A man was arrested by the Vadodara city police on Sunday for allegedly misusing the stamp of a municipal councillor to fraudulently change addresses in Aadhaar records. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The accused, Paresh Kelwani, runs a web solutions shop in the Warasia area. Police are investigating whether Kelwani has committed similar offences in the past and how many records were altered using the the councillor's stamp. According to police, BJP councillor Hemisha Thakkar was recently informed by BJP worker Hardik Prajapati that her official stamp was being used on documents to facilitate Aadhaar address changes. Prajapati learned of the misuse when he visited Kelwani's shop to update his address in Aadhaar records. When he told Kelwani that he lacked valid address proof, Kelwani allegedly offered to make the change using the councillor's stamp in exchange for Rs 950. Prajapati immediately informed Thakkar, who discovered that the addresses of at least three individuals had been changed in Aadhaar records using her stamp. She also stated that the stamp bore her former designation as chairperson of the recreational and cultural committee — a position she held around one and a half years ago. Thakkar said that even her forged signature had been used for the fraudulent address changes. She reported the matter to her party leadership and subsequently lodged a complaint at the city police station. Police have seized Kelwani's computer for further investigation. In recent months, Vadodara has seen a spike in cases involving forged documents — including fake birth certificates — being used to obtain Aadhaar cards. Many such rackets were uncovered by officials of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) during verification of Aadhaar applicants.
