Rams re-sign former Georgia Bulldog days after his release
The Los Angeles Rams have re-signed former Georgia Bulldogs and Clemson Tigers cornerback Derion Kendrick. The Rams re-signed Kendrick just a few days after they waived him.
Kendrick spent the first three seasons of his NFL career with Los Angeles, but missed the 2024 NFL season after suffering a torn ACL in training camp. The 6-foot, 200-pound cornerback started 18 of 32 games during his first two seasons with the Rams.
If fully healthy, then Kendrick is expected to compete for a starting role with the Rams or to at least make Los Angeles' active roster for games. The Rams drafted Kendrick with a sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft.
During Kendrick's last healthy season in 2023, he recorded 49 tackles, 10 pass deflections and one interception. Kendrick participated in organized team activities, but it is unclear if he is able to join the team in Maui, Hawaii, for minicamp from June 16-18.
Kendrick played the first three years of his college football career at Clemson before he transferred to Georgia for the 2021 season. He helped Georgia win a national championship and came up big for the Dawgs in the College Football Playoff.
The Rams have four former Georgia Bulldogs on their roster in Kendrick, quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Stetson Bennett and offensive lineman Warren McClendon.

Baltimore Ravens sign Jaire Alexander following the cornerback's release by the Packers

Jaire Alexander has signed with the Baltimore Ravens less than two weeks after the two-time Pro Bowl cornerback was released by the Green Bay Packers. The Ravens posted a video on Wednesday of star quarterback Lamar Jackson enthusiastically greeting Alexander after he signed with the two-time defending AFC North champions. Jackson and Alexander were teammates at Louisville. ESPN reported that the 28-year-old Alexander was getting a one-year deal with a base value of $4 million and another $2 million in incentives. Emerging as a top cornerback The Packers released Alexander on June 9, ending a seven-year run in which he emerged as one of the NFL's top cornerbacks before injuries limited his availability. Alexander's future with the Packers was the subject of much speculation throughout the offseason because of his hefty contract and recent injury history. He is a two-time NFL Pro Bowl performer. Alexander, who has 12 interceptions, had two years remaining on the four-year, $84 million contract extension he signed in May 2022. His best season was in 2022 when he picked off five passes. Former first-round draft pick A first-round draft pick by Green Bay in 2018, Alexander missed two games early last season with injuries to his quadriceps and groin. He then missed a Nov. 3 loss to Detroit with a knee injury, returned to play 10 snaps in the Packers' next game against Chicago and then was out for the rest of the season. The games he missed were because of injury with one exception. Alexander was suspended for a late-season game in 2023 because of conduct detrimental to the team after he appointed himself captain and participated in the coin toss for a Christmas Eve win at Carolina, his hometown.

Sideline reporter Laura Okmin leaving Fox to focus on her company

NFL sideline reporter Laura Okmin is leaving Fox Sports of her own accord, having turned down a new contract, she told Front Office Sports. The third-longest-tenured sideline reporter in NFL history said she wants to focus on her company, GALvanize, which teaches and mentors women sports journalists. She will continue to cover the NFL in the postseason, including the Super Bowl, for the Westwood One radio network. 'They sent me the contract. I printed it out. I sat there. It was just my voice saying, 'It's time; this is it,'' Okmin told Front Office Sports. 'I called my boss and my friend, Jacob Ullman, who I've known as long as I've been at Fox Sports. I'm happy to say he was very surprised. I would have been very disappointed if there was any other reaction. It was a really nice call, because I got to have it with my boss and my friend.' Okmin worked on a team with play-by-play announcer Kevin Kugler and game analyst Daryl 'Moose' Johnston in 2024. She joined Fox in 2002 as a host, anchor and reporter and has covered more than 20 Super Bowls. Fox's Pam Oliver and the retired Michele Tafoya are the only sideline reporters believed to have worked more NFL games as a sideline reporter, according to Front Office Sports.

NFL wife Kelly Stafford reveals weed gummies ‘make me a better parent'

Kelly Stafford shared her ultimate parenting hack. Kelly, who shares four daughters with husband and Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, revealed in the latest episode of her podcast she "sometimes" enjoys taking THC gummies. "Gummies are great," she said on "The Morning After" podcast. "Sometimes I feel like gummies make me a better parent. They calm me down. It's like the glass of wine." Kelly, who has four children under 8, said she does feel "a little guilty" admitting it. "I feel a little guilty saying it, and it's not like I do it every night, but sometimes I'm like, 'S--- it has been a long day. I don't want to rip my hair out or their hair out, so I am going to just top it off with a little gummy.'" Kelly added that she does have the support of her husband. "This is what Matthew always tells me. He's like, 'As long as they're in bed, fed and happy and feel loved, who cares how they get there?' Just like, just get them there." A recent study by researchers at UC San Francisco determined that eating edible cannabis, such as gummies, has the same cardiovascular risk as smoking marijuana for long-term users. The risk stems from reduced blood vessel function, according to the study, published in JAMA Cardiology May 28. The Stafford family faced uncertainty this offseason amid trade speculation and stalled contract negotiations between the veteran NFL quarterback and the Rams. In March, the sides agreed to a restructured deal. "This is where we both wanted to be, and I'm just glad he gets to play for the team and the coach that he wants to end his career with," Kelly said on her podcast in March. The NFL Network reported last month that, under the new restructured contract, Stafford is due to earn up to $84 million over the next two years. Under his previous contract, that number was $58 million. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.
