Minnesota Vikings legends Brian Asamoah and Jordan Addison to visit Edinburgh to mark Scotland's cultural ties
The Minnesota Vikings are all set to bring current players Jordan Addison and Brian Asamoah and wide receivers coach Keenan McCardell with them to Edinburgh on July 3 as part of a cultural tour to mark the franchise's historic Scottish connection.
The National Football League team, which is named after the Norse explorers as a nod to Minnesota's strong Scandinavian heritage, will greet local fans and experience traditional Scottish culture during the visit.

flair to Edinburgh for cultural exchange with Scottish fans
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison, linebacker Brian Asamoah, and two-time Super Bowl champion Keenan McCardell, now a coach with the Vikings' receivers, are to spend two days on a cultural and fan engagement tour in Edinburgh.
The July 3 visit is part of the team's broader effort to strengthen global ties and acknowledge the Norse heritage that exists between Scotland and America's Midwest.
The Minnesota Vikings are named in recognition of the state's strong Scandinavian heritage. As there were Vikings who arrived in Scotland over 1,200 years ago, the team's name is a resonance with similar historical origins in Scottish life. The trip is intended to honor these shared roots in a manner that counts and enhances the team's already passionate UK fan base.

'Our organisation is honoured to have such a passionate and growing international fan base, many of whom call Edinburgh and Scotland home,' say the Minnesota Vikings. 'We are excited to meet as many of our Scottish Vikings fans as possible during our stay and hope this visit can become the first of many in the years to come. The players and Coach McCardell are hoping to soak in as much Scottish culture as they can over the course of the two-day visit, from sampling haggis to creating tartan.
I know all three are also looking forward to spending time exploring Edinburgh, so our plan is to also take in as many sites around the city as possible.'
The game marks the first of three such overseas games this year for the Minnesota Vikings, who have the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns in scheduled games played in Dublin and London later this year. The Steelers await the Vikings at Dublin's Croke Park on September 28, while the Browns are scheduled to play the Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on October 5.

'He'll do everything': Jake Guentzel blasts Sidney Crosby's stardom, says fame became toxic in Pittsburgh
Jake Guentzel, reveals the challenges Sidney Crosby faces due to his fame (Getty Images) Sidney Crosby's name still draws crowds, cameras and conversation two decades into an elite NHL career. But fame has its trade-offs — and former teammate Jake Guentzel offered a blunt portrait of what life looks like for the Penguins captain when he spoke on The Cam & Strick Podcast. Guentzel's comments lift the curtain on how constant attention shapes Crosby's daily routine and the discipline behind his longevity. Fans, photos and no easy exit from the spotlight Jake Guentzel didn't sugarcoat the reality: 'I mean he has to,' he said, referring to the difficulty Sidney Crosby faces moving around Pittsburgh without being swarmed. 'It's got to be tough for him. I mean, everyone wants to be all over him, it seems like.' Jake Guentzel talks Crosby, Kucherov, 4 Nations and more That public magnetism demands careful management — something Crosby handles by keeping his private life tightly controlled and remaining approachable yet guarded when fans approach. As Guentzel added, 'Whenever you come up to him, he's so friendly. He's such a nice guy; that's the good thing about him. He'll do everything for everyone.' Lone work ethic: how Sidney Crosby sustains elite production Behind the celebrity is relentless preparation. Guentzel and hosts pointed out Crosby's near-constant training, with Guentzel answering 'Never' when asked if Crosby takes time off. The veteran's solo sessions — often with a single trainer — underline a commitment few can match: Crosby has delivered around 20 seasons of elite play, three Stanley Cups and the kind of scoring output (more than 600 goals and roughly 1,600 points) that cements a generational legacy. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 20 Legendary Cars from the Past Undo Also Read: Connor McDavid's top-six gets a boost as Oilers secure Andrew Mangiapane on $7.2 million deal For Pittsburgh, Crosby's profile is both an asset and a management challenge. Even as the Penguins chase playoff relevance, Crosby's example — balancing public demands with private discipline — remains a blueprint for sustaining greatness in a spotlight that never dims. Now, a single-train ride will take you to airport from Shahid Khudiram stn
1 2 Kolkata: Once full-fledged commercial operation begins on the Yellow Line, commuters who take the metro on the Blue Line will be able to travel straight to the airport without having to switch trains at Noapara. Metro Railway is planning to extend every third service on the Blue Line beyond Noapara to the airport on the Yellow Line, thereby enabling a passenger who boards the train at the airport to travel 35km seamlessly to Kavi Subhash without changing the train. With services to Kavi Subhash currently suspended, trains will operate between Jai Hind station at the airport and Shahid Khudiram for now. Sources in Metro Railway said planning was underway to operate one train to Dakshineswar, the next train to Noapara and the following train to the Airport once the Yellow Line becomes operational. While the original plan was to start commercial services from Monday after PM inaugurates the stretch on Friday, a host of observations made by the Commissioner of Railway Safety may force Metro Railway to push back the commercial operations to a later date. The Blue and Yellow lines are the only ones where seamless operations are possible at present. Though the Orange Line will also terminate at the airport, it is unlikely to allow a seamless journey on the onward Yellow track to Barasat via New Barrackpore. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Indonesia: New Container Houses (Prices May Surprise You) Container House | Search ads Search Now Undo In the existing scheme of things, Blue Line commuters have to switch trains at Esplanade to board the Green and at Kavi Subhash to board the Orange Line. The latter will eventually span 22 km to Barasat. "Every rake has two motormen, so the train can be driven in either direction. When the train reaches Noapara, the doors will open for Noapara-bound commuters to step out. As the doors shut, the rake, with only airport-bound passengers on board, will cross over to the other line," a source said. "The train from the airport will switch tracks here and continue along the North-South line, stopping at the various stations en route. It will terminate at the Shahid Khudiram and start its return journey afresh," he said. "Airport-bound passengers will travel on the same train they boarded from any of the North-South (Blue Line) stations with their single tokens for travelling across two lines. They will wait inside the train while it switches from the Blue Line to the Yellow Line, using the crossover at Noapara," an official said. The initial timetable was based on a 15-minute frequency for airport-bound trains via Noapara. "We are reworking the timings so that trains to and from the airport are available every 12 minutes," the source said. It should take around 30 minutes to travel from airport to Esplanade via Noapara. From Esplanade, it will take another half hour to travel to Shahid Khudiram station.
