RM48.873 Billion In LKAN Not Leakages Or Losses, Says Auditor-General
Auditor-General Datuk Seri Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi said the total cost of the audited programmes, activities and projects amounted to RM48.873 billion, and this amount does not represent any leakages or losses, as reported by several media portals.
'Such statements have the potential to create confusion and unfounded negative perceptions of the country's financial management,' she said in a statement today.
She said the scope of this audit generally takes into account the performance of programmes, projects and activities that have been implemented over several previous years (legacy issues), as well as any efforts or initiatives introduced by the government.
Accordingly, each finding presented in this report is accompanied by constructive recommendations aimed at helping ministries and government departments and agencies enhance operational efficiency and strengthen internal systems and compliance, she added.
Wan Suraya said a total of 44 issues reported in the LKAN have been uploaded to the Auditor-General's Dashboard (AGD) on Monday for follow-up action by the relevant ministries and departments.
'These same issues will also be discussed at the Auditor-General's Report Follow-Up Committee (JSLKAN) and the Serious Irregularities Action Committee (JTKS) meetings, which are jointly chaired by the Auditor-General and the Secretary-General of the Treasury,' she said.
For the period from 2024 to June 2025, she added that audits conducted by the National Audit Department (JAN) have successfully helped the government recover RM157.73 million.
'This includes collections from penalty claims, outstanding rental, liquidated ascertained damages (LAD), land lease arrears, as well as the collection of duties and taxes,' she said, adding that the report will be debated in the Dewan Rakyat tomorrow.

Saifuddin Nasution said Malaysia appreciates the determination and willingness shown by the leaders of Cambodia and Thailand in seeking a resolution to their conflict. "In today's meeting, the heads and members of the delegations from both countries truly upheld the principles long practised at the ASEAN level, namely consultation and dialogue based on trust and mutual respect," he said. He said the meeting reflects the shared understanding that a ceasefire is not merely a pause, but a promise to protect lives, to uphold dignity and to prevent further suffering. "That promise must be honoured through our commitment, effective monitoring and sincere political will from both sides. KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- The implementation of the Pandasafe programme, a new initiative by food delivery company Foodpanda, has the potential to cultivate a culture of safe riding among delivery or p-hailing riders, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke. Not only did the minister laud the initiative, but he also said that the programme can encourage comprehensive risk management and raise awareness of road safety within the food delivery system. 'Pandasafe uses telematics technology to assess how riders ride and collaborates with insurance companies and other stakeholders to instil a safety culture. 'This is the kind of initiative that should be emulated. Safety must be integrated into the corporate systems of all platform-based companies,' he told reporters after launching the initiative here today. Loke also warned against business practices that may pressure p-hailing riders to compromise safety for the sake of meeting delivery quotas or tight deadlines. 'We don't want systems that punish riders for not meeting strict delivery times, which in turn could lead to dangerous riding habits like speeding, illegal overtaking, or taking unnecessary risks to chase more trips. This should not be happening,' he stressed. He said statistics show that two-thirds of fatal road accidents in Malaysia involve motorcyclists, with delivery riders being among the most frequent users of public roads. 'That's why we're strongly pushing for safety to become part of the working culture across the delivery sector,' he said. Earlier in his speech, Loke noted that while the government can create policy frameworks, lasting change can only happen if the private sector also takes responsibility.
