Kate Hudson's 'Soul Reset' Vacation Included This Bestie Who Is Still Mending a Broken Heart
Hudson described it as a 'soul reset,' which might be the perfect way to describe her BFF Dakota Johnson's year. The 35-year-old Materialists star called off her engagement to Chris Martin in June after an eight-year, on-again, off-again relationship. A People source said, 'It feels final this time.' So far, Johnson and Martin have not reconciled, and instead, she went on a horseback-riding adventure.

Hudson's photo dump on Aug. 7 showed off their outdoors holiday filled with fresh air, mountains, and plenty of sunshine. Johnson slipped into the second image of the carousel while cuddling Hudson's daughter, Rani, 6, in her lap while Hawn stuck her tongue out and Hudson grinned mischievously at the camera lens. It looked like the perfect way to end the summer season.

Johnson has been leaning on Hudson during her time of need. In July, the dynamic duo was spotted on a yacht off the coast of Ibiza, Spain. They were sporting bikinis while they relaxed in the blazing sun. The women became lifelong friends after growing up together in Hollywood. Hawn was close with Johnson's mother, Melanie Griffith, so their sweet bond makes sense.
It doesn't sound like the Fifty Shades of Grey actress is sitting at home dwelling on her Martin split when she isn't vacationing with Hudson either. She's already announced that her next project will be behind the camera as a first-time feature film director.
'I think I will direct a feature, a very small one, hopefully soon,' Johnson shared at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in July, per The Hollywood Reporter. 'We're making it with Vanessa Burghardt, who played my daughter in Cha Cha Real Smooth. She's an incredible autistic actress.'
'I've always felt that I'm not ready to direct a feature. I don't have the confidence,' Johnson added. 'But with [Burghardt], I feel very protective, and I know her very well, and … I just won't let anybody else do it.'

Colorado YouTuber Basho & Friends releases new educational album for kids
What started out as a small venture has grown into 175,000 YouTube subscribers for a content creator in Colorado. He's teaching kids new words and different languages. Boulder native Basho Mosko has been making fun educational music for kids for over a decade. "I was teaching a mommy and me kind of Spanish course, and they didn't have good materials," Mosko said. "And I was like, 'I can help you make materials.' So I started writing songs that taught languages and put them on YouTube." In the YouTube world, he's known as Basho and Friends. Mosko is completely self-taught and does most of his work right here in Colorado. "I'll do a lot of the scratch tracks here. I'll lay stuff out. I'll punch some stuff out and sort of set a framework for it. And then my producer lives in Brass Valley, California," Mosko explained. Mosko's content has garnered more than 100 million views across platforms, and, while his songs are pretty catchy, Basho and Friends remains a passion project. "This isn't my full-time job," Mosko said. "I have a job at Google doing a broadcast production." Making a difference in a kids' lives, including his own, is what keeps Mosko going. "I had a couple of parents actually emailed me saying that their kids were non-verbal, or they were working with disabilities, and singing my songs was one of the first ways that they started producing language," Mosko shared. Now, the popular YouTuber for kids is dropping a new album with new meaning. It's called "A Way to Be," and it was released Friday on Spotify, YouTube and other platforms where music lives. "With this album, it was going to be another one of those 20 things you need to learn before kids start kindergarten," Mosko said. "But it kind of evolved into something more personal about 20 things that make you a good person. You know that kids around the world universally can learn about and perfect in order to be positive contributors to the world."
