Mamelodi Sundowns have received a message of support from international music mogul DJ Khaled as they prepare to take on Pyramids FC in the CAF Champions League final.
In an initiative facilitated by Roc Nation Sports International, DJ Khaled's message to the club can be seen in on digital billboards plastered around Gauteng.
The message on the billboards showing DJ Khaled, who has voiced his support for the Tshwane giants on numerous occasions, reads: 'Good luck Mamelodi Sundowns, let's go. The sky is the limit!'
Two further digital billboards will be flighted at the iconic Nelson Mandela Square and on Katherine Street – both in Sandton – to celebrate Sundowns clinching an eighth successive league title, as well as to build further excitement for the club's participation in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

Four-week break recommended as player safeguard: Fifpro soccer study
A four-week off-season break should be mandatory for professional soccer players, with two of those weeks to be a blackout period with no communication with club or national team, according to a new study. Seventy medical and performance experts agreed on 12 safeguards as part of the study released on Thursday by global players' union Fifpro to protect players from calendar congestion and excessive workload. The safeguards include a minimum four-week retraining period after an off-season break before a return to competition. 'Decoding the human body, performance and sport-related injuries will be a lifelong scientific exercise for all of us,' said Darren Burgess, chair of Fifpro's high-performance advisory network. 'However, the results of this study show there are certain minimum standards such as adequate rest between matches and proper off-season breaks that are common sense, aligned with scientific evidence and, above all, required by global occupational health and safety standards.' The study's release comes days before the expanded Fifa Club World Cup kicks off in the US amid player welfare concerns after an exhausting European season. Fifpro are calling for the immediate implementation of the safeguards which also include a minimum four-week retraining period after a close-season break before a return to competition and travel fatigue management which would mean rest periods after long-haul flights. Players should also have a mandatory one-day off per week during the season and there should be a one-week midseason break with no club or national team travel, training or media commitments. Fifpro are also calling for specific workload safeguards for academy players under the age of 18. More than 75% agreement was required among participants to establish each recommendation. While some safeguards exist under the collective bargaining agreements of some countries, international football lacks standardised regulations, Fifpro said. The study's Delphi methodological approach was an electronic survey conducted from February to March, involving experts working in the performance or medical team in men's professional football. Seventy-three percent of the experts are employed by football clubs, with 27% working for national teams. 'If we can agree that health comes first, then we should take steps to implement these safeguards,' said Fifpro's medical director Vincent Gouttebarge. In October Fifpro, the European leagues' group and Spain's LaLiga filed a joint complaint to EU antitrust regulators, accusing soccer's global governing body Fifa of 'abuse', concerned about the effect of the expanding football calendar on player wellbeing.

Three Orlando Pirates players who should be given a fair chance
Orlando Pirates have released four players to make space for more ahead of the new season. The Buccaneers finished second in the Betway Premiership last season and also secured their third successive MTN8 title. Under Jose Riveiro, Pirates won five trophies in three seasons, but the Spaniard has since departed to join Egyptian giants Al Ahly. Looking ahead to the 2025/26 season, the Buccaneers are without a coach and have released four players in the past weeks. With experienced players such as Makhehlene Makhaula, Olisa Ndah and Tapelo Xoki, Orlando Pirates still have experience and could build on next season. With Mamelodi Sundowns competing in the FIFA Club World Cup, this is the perfect chance for the Soweto giants to go into the transfer market and sign top players around the continent. With more signings to come, the Buccaneers have to ensure they don't release impact players. Tshegofatso Mabasa Mabasa only scored seven goals in the league last season. The 28-year-old striker needs to be backed ahead of Evidence Makgopa ahead of the new campaign. An in-form Mabasa is more lethal and can score atleast 15 goals in the league alone, given the right service and backing. Thabiso Lebitso Lebitso played 13 matches across all competitions in his debut season for the Buccaneers. He famously scored in the Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs last year, helping his side to a 3-2 victory at the FNB Stadium. Unfortunately, injuries halted his season and forced him to watch from the sidelines. This past season, Lebitso played just two matches and all his appearances came in the CAF Champions League. With Deano van Rooyen having secured the right-back position, Lebitso is a perfect replacement. He should feature more, given how many matches the Sea Robbers will play next season. Karim Kimvuidi Kimvuidi is no doubt one of the Orlando Pirates players who have impressed when making an appearance. The Congolese attacker only made eight league showing but many Bucs fans feel like he should be given a fair chance.
