Texas Rangers put outfielder Evan Carter on IL, recall outfielder Alejandro Osuna
The 22-year-old Carter went 0 for 4 with three strikeouts during Friday night's loss to the Seattle Mariners, and had gone only 4 for 34 since the All-Star break.
He also missed time this season because of a right quad strain. Carter is hitting .238 with four home runs and 21 RBIs this season.
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy lamented the loss of Carter ahead of Saturday's game, especially in conjunction with third baseman Josh Jung continuing to miss time because of calf soreness.
'Yeah, it's really incredible,' Bochy said. 'You look at the number of injuries. I mean, it hasn't stopped.'
Osuna, 22, has appeared in 29 games for the Rangers this season, hitting .164 with one home run and five RBIs. Additionally, first baseman Jake Burger, who has been sidelined since July 12 because of a left quadriceps injury, was sent to Double-A Frisco to begin a rehab assignment.

Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill has oblique injury, out of joint practice vs. Bears
The Miami Dolphins have shelved Tyreek Hill because of an oblique injury, holding the team's All-Pro receiver from participating in Friday's joint practices. It's unclear when the injury occured, though Hill sat out of Wednesday's practice with an undisclosed ailment. Other injuries to monitor include that of edge rusher Mo Kamara, who suffered a concussion and did not travel with the team, and fullback Alec Ingold. The 29-year-old fullback traveled with the team despite sustaining a concussion in the final moments of Sunday's practice. 'If he would have been the fastest protocol [clearance] in the history of America,' McDaniel said Friday. Ingold must participate in at least two practices without feeling the effects of his concussion to be cleared from the NFL concussion protocol. 'This turnaround for a joint practice wouldn't be best for a fullback.' Coincidentally, Hill sustained last year's wrist injury during a joint practice with the Washington Commanders. He was also limited during the joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last year because of the wrist injury, which needed to be surgically repaired at the end of the 2024 season. His absence forced starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to lean on Jaylen Waddle and the rest of Miami's receiving corps, which features three receivers — Malik Washington, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Dee Eskridge — whom Tagovailoa need to develop better chemistry with. All three are pushing to earn significant roles in Miami's offense this season.
