Tej Pratap Yadav demands action against RJD MLA Bhai Virendra over anti-SC, ST remarks
Taking to the social media platform X, Tej Pratap wrote: "Will RJD also take action against its MLA Bhai Virendra, who made shameful remarks against the SC-ST society, contrary to the ideals of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, and threatened to kill? I was expelled from the party under the conspiracy of Jai Chands... Now it remains to be seen whether the party will show the same strictness on those who create a ruckus or not. Respect for the Constitution should be seen in conduct, not in speeches."
This direct attack has stirred a fresh political storm within the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and has brought simmering factional tensions and alleged organisational bias to the surface.
Tej Pratap's statement doesn't just target Bhai Virendra; it indirectly criticises the party's top brass, including RJD chief Lalu Prasad and Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Tejashwi Yadav, his father and brother, respectively.
By referencing his expulsion and calling out "Jai Chands", Tej Pratap accused the leadership of double standards, suggesting selective enforcement of discipline within the party.
The controversy over Bhai Virendra's remarks has sparked outrage on social media, with several Dalit organisations and civil rights groups labelling the comments as anti-constitutional.
They have demanded an unconditional apology and disciplinary action against the MLA.
After the threatening call from Maner MLA Bhai Virendra, Panchayat Secretary Sandeep Kumar, posted in Maner block of Patna, lodged a formal complaint against him in the SC and ST Police Station on Monday.
Kumar alleged that the four-time legislator had threatened him during a phone call.
Bhai Virendra confirmed the authenticity of the call but defended his actions.
He admitted using "harsh words" but accused the Panchayat Secretary of showing disrespect and not following the protocol.

Internal quota: Parameshwara appeals to groups to not protest
Home Minister G. Parameshwara here on Sunday said that the Congress government was committed to implementing internal reservation for Scheduled Caste communities in the State and appealed to those threatening to stage protest seeking implementation of it to not do so. 'We had made the declaration on internal reservation in Chitradurga and we have also committed to it in our manifesto. Whatever we need to do should be done according to the procedure and guidelines issued by the Supreme Court. We are committed to implementing internal reservation; procedures have to be followed for which we need some time,' he told presspersons. His statement comes in the light of Dalit left (Madigas) groups threatening a protest from August 11. Dalit left leaders from the BJP, including Govind Karjol and A. Narayanaswamy, have also made such a threat. The Minister said that the commission, headed by retired judge H.N. Nagamohan Das, would submit its report to the government on August 4. It would discussed in the State Cabinet and steps would be taken to implement the recommendations. The A.J. Sadashiva Commission report was not accepted by the then BJP government because of data issues. On the meeting of Ministers from the Scheduled Caste community that he had convened, Dr. Parameshwara said that it was decided to have a common voice on the internal reservation. 'If there are any issues with communities, it was decided to talk to them.'

Alka Lamba slams BJP-ruled states over rising crimes against women, alleges protection for culprits
New Delhi Aug 3 (UNI) The All India Mahila Congress today expressed grave concern over the rising crime against women in BJP-ruled states and accused the state governments of trying to protect the culprits. Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters here, All India Mahila Congress president Alka Laamba expressed grief over the death of a 15 year old girl from Odisha, who was set afire by three people. She alleged that the police had initially given clean chit to the accused saying they did not have any role. The girl died in the AIIMS Delhi after struggling for life for several days. Lamba cited several cases from BJP-ruled states where, she claimed, crimes against women, especially those from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities have been steadily rising. She said that between 2022 and 2024, 7418 women belonging to the SC/ST community were raped in Madhya Pradesh. She asserted that this was happening mainly in the BJP-ruled states as the culprits were getting protection from the government. She also mentioned about a "Gujarat Police poster advising the girls not to get out of their homes during the night hours". "It only showed the BJP-ruled state's mindset that instead of providing safety and security to women, it was asking them to stay indoors," she said. Welcoming the conviction and sentencing to life of former JD-S MP Prajwal Revanna, Lamba congratulated the Congress government in Karnataka for conducting the trial in a fast track court. She said, while the Central Government had helped Prajwal flee to Germany, it was due to the efforts of the Congress government in the state that made him face the law. Rape accused engineer moves Supreme Court over Rajasthan HC's ‘erroneous' travel order
A software engineer, accused of raping a woman on a false pretext of marriage, has moved the Supreme Court challenging an order of the Rajasthan High Court which directed his wife to be present in the country if he wished to travel abroad for a job. The plea, filed by advocate Ashwani Dubey, called the HC order erroneous and a violation of Article 21.(HT_PRINT) The petitioner in his plea said the high court, in a clear violation of the "procedural impropriety" and without hearing or impleading his wife, who is currently employed in the US, and ignoring that she is not a part of the criminal case, directed her to remain in India. The petition, filed through advocate Ashwani Dubey, submitted that the said impugned direction passed by the high court was "erroneous" and violative of the fundamental rights under Article 21 of the Constitution. The matter is listed for hearing on August 8. The counsel argued that the direction suffered from procedural irregularity and legal perversity, having been passed without affording a hearing to the person affected. "He will be going for a specific period and he undertakes a specific oath before this Court that he shall make himself available for trial as and when directed, therefore, there is no question of delay in trial and also there is no question of his absconding," the plea said. The engineer was booked for rape at the Christianganj Police Station of Ajmer. Accused and the woman met online According to the petition, the accused and the woman met on an online matrimonial site and had a close acquaintance for a period of approximately four years. It was alleged that the man entered into an intimate relationship with the complainant, promising her that he would marry her. Under apprehension of arrest, the engineer moved an anticipatory bail application, which was allowed. He then moved an application before the trial court to allow him to go abroad to the USA for employment. The trial court dismissed the application, which was assailed before the high court, which allowed him to go abroad but imposed a condition that his wife must remain in India.
